      So, I have a shoulder issue...so this won't work for me. But I still want to keep my bra straps up. I've been properly measured & have already purchased (4) brand new bras, they fit perfectly in the cup & the band...but the straps have been shortened as much as they can, and the straps still work their way to the shoulders edge. Help....ugh🤦

    Fantastic hack! Anyone with rounded shoulders will appreciate this. In high school my mother, an excellent seamstress, taught me to make a strap holder for my garments. Basically a thin strip of fabric under each shoulder seam. One end is sewn near the outside edge of the shoulder seam; the other has the female end of a snap. The male snap is sewn to the other side of the shoulder seam (nearer the neck). Your hack is so much better!! I had to do mine to each of my garments because of sloped shoulders. Your idea makes a product that can be used for multiple garments. I bought some of that stretch elastic in different colors but no idea how to use it. All I need are those little hooks. Thank you so much for sharing. I always appreciate your videos. Short and to the point, well made, and always helpful. ❤

    @cindyhappel7376 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That is GENIUS!!!! I have been trying to solve this problem for years and had a couple of ideas, but I think I’m going to try this! Since you were in the swimwear industry, I was thinking just to take the swimwear elastic that the industry uses to prevent things from moving in the bottoms. Just to sew to the underside of the strap to see if that would keep it in place, but I have not been able to find this elastic. Going to try this for sure!!! Thanks so much!!!

    • @StreamlineSeamstress
      @StreamlineSeamstress  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Cindy, the rubber used in swimsuit elastic is supposed to be made for chlorine. I never used it in our factory because it has a tendency to 'bite' and be uncomfortable. I think the same rule applies here too. The ribbon elastic is perfect, effortless, easy to sew and you'll forget it's on! No more sliding straps! Yay! Thank you for watching - let me know how it works out for you!

    i have an issue i need a solution to. my mother in law and i were discussing this recently. we are both large busted and our straps are constantly sliding to the longest point, causing the straps to fall. while this doodad would keep them from falling, how do you prevent the straps from sliding in the first place? its the weight of the breast that causes them to slide. so what do we do, short of sewing a tack in and moving them as the strap stretches over time; or putting a safety pin in for the same purpose? thanks for this idea.

    • @debrahunter7130
      @debrahunter7130 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wish there were a good reply to this question. I have safety pinned mine, but that was a fiasco when the pin undid itself!!! I'm considering putting a permanent tack in the two layers of the strap above the no good holder, so it won't be able to move up anymore!!! I always say , "this is 2021, you would think they could have solved this strap falling issue years ago, it must be men who created bras"!!!!

    • @StreamlineSeamstress
      @StreamlineSeamstress  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there sewing angel! My first advice to you would to be 'more personal' in your videos. I watched your intro video and you never mentioned your name or talk to the viewers as people. You need to build a community of fans and friends and you do that by befriending them, by connecting with them. Asking for 'views and subscriptions' without letting people know who you are - what you're about and what you offer is like asking someone to hire you without an interview, or a resume. You're asking for a reward without offering a gift of meaning. Think about it, there are tens of thousands of creative content videos on TH-cam. What makes anyone stand out over the others? It's the connection people have with the person in the video. If they feel no connection, the don't watch. Work on your connection through meaningful content. Be well, and good luck.

      As a swimsuit pattern maker and designer with more than 30 years of experience, I can assure you two things happen. Your bra/swimsuit will never fit the same as the day you bought it, and your breasts are likely to change size and volume with age and weight loss/gain. Though in great shape, a bra you bought a year ago will never fit the same as the day you bought it. This strap gives your bra longevity.
