    ive got a 95 Cheyenne bought it with 90,000 miles on it love that truck but its been hard for me to find out things bout it because they're not the most common, but of course the first thing I wanted to do was lift it, they are pretty low trucks and I just think older looking trucks with angled body styles look good picked up just a little. Anyway what I was getting at is I really appreciate your videos its great to hear things explained and to see things done to a truck like mine that I other wise wouldn't have an example of

I have videos about the wheels I got after the lift and the bumper rubbing issue that is now sorted out. There are over 60 videos of the truck. What problems were you having with the spindle and brake caliper I believe you mentioned? Any which way, I plan to do the same thing with my 97 2wdburban, but plan to be only getting the stabilizer link and 4in spindles from rough country. I plan on going Bilstein 5100s in the front, Ranchos 9000 in the back with a 5/1 add a leaf adding possibly another add a leaf as well depending on the squat. Now, what size wheel and tire are you going with? Are you able to fit 32's? 33's?

    • @BuildYourOwn
      @BuildYourOwn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I did the lift, the 15" wheels rubbed the new spindles. I had to put wheel spacers on the truck initially. I got new wheels and tires, 17" Vision D Window wheels (th-cam.com/video/-nARGFsOd7g/w-d-xo.html) but they rub. I just got a new bumper from LMC Truck (th-cam.com/video/Smsa8zxYX-o/w-d-xo.html) and it still rubs. I think I want to go to a 16" wheel which is what I initially wanted. But listening to other people (always wanting bigger everything) and I have had rub issues since day one.

      @@BuildYourOwn I got 16x8 with a -12mm offset on my truck and I prefer more tire than rim, though I am only running a 245 currently. My plan is with 265's without a lift, 285 if I do a lift. I am running 2500 series components on the front which did lift the front without buying any lift.

    So quick question, I have a 93 k1500 I've been working on and I really want to do a RC 4" lift and I have 16" wheels, do you think I would have that problem with my wheels? Great video and I'm loving this playlist!!

      @@BuildYourOwn Oh that's great to hear cause I love the wheels I have right now. Brother I'm LOVING these videos! These were the best trucks ever made in my humble opinion and I love seeing the process of a good build. I can't wait for the LS swap!!!

    • @BuildYourOwn
      @BuildYourOwn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Joel_Maverick Its certainly been an adventure with this truck! Lots of things I still want to do. And you're right, these are great trucks. I think part of that reason is the simplicity of everything more or less. That said, when it comes time to replace the motor and trans, I might keep is simple. Meaning, I like the idea of an LS swap, but I don't like the idea of the modification and the wiring harness and all of that. And once installed, you no longer have the simple truck to work on that you once enjoyed, in my opinion. The engine I'd really like these days is a 383 TBI stroker that's plug and play and a new transmission with a shift kit! Thanks for watching!

      @BuildYourOwn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your question! I believe I got these wheel spacers from a local auto parts store like AutoZone, but they were a temporary, inexpensive solution. If you're considering using wheel spacers for a more extended period, I would recommend investing in higher-quality options for the sake of safety and durability. There are plenty of reputable online retailers that offer wheel spacers tailored to different vehicle specifications. Always make sure they're properly installed and regularly checked for safety. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching!

    I am thinking about lifting my 97 c1500 2wd, but heard and read a lot about how dangerous the truck would become, and the increased wear on all suspensión, at last making it unreliable and unstable. Any thoughts about these concerns? Thank you.

    • @BuildYourOwn
      @BuildYourOwn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those are solid concerns. I've had the truck lifted for some time now and while I don't drive 10K miles a year, I have run that truck around plenty... highway driving, country road driving... the truck has felt and been solid. With it being a bit taller, it'll sometimes make me slow down a bit before a fast sweeping turn kind of thing, but the truck has never felt dangerous to me. As for parts wearing out... that hasn't really been my experience. Right now the front brakes are squeaking and it probably needs some wheels bearings. I've actually never replaced the brakes, so it's probably getting to be time. When I had the lift done, Rick re-packed the bearings. I don't know how long the bearings are suppose to last, but maybe that's the wear item? Hope this helps.

    How much did the gas mileage change?

    • @BuildYourOwn
      @BuildYourOwn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! The increase in tire size from 15" to 17" could potentially decrease gas mileage by around 2-4% due to increased rolling resistance and weight, according to general automotive principles. However, this is a rough estimate and can vary based on several factors. I'd recommend tracking your gas mileage over several tanks of gas to get a more accurate measure. Perhaps you can factor in a bit more drag with a truck being lifted... not really sure. I hope this helps!

    Do you know the kit rough country number in ebay?

      I don't, I purchased my lift directly from the Rough Country website. Maybe you can look the kit up on their website for whatever part number you're looking for?

      Thanks for the observation. Instead of laughing, it would be more helpful if you could provide guidance on the correct installation. I had it professionally installed, but it seems even professionals can make mistakes. Constructive feedback is always appreciated.
