I miss when gamers used to take gaming seriously like this. Had an awesome battle in Planetside 2 where people were taking platoons and squads seriously, and we were so organized that we were able to dominate continents while camping enemy warpgates.
That was incredible. I wonder if the men who fought in these wars, ever thought there would be some sort of futuristic simulation of them getting ripped apart by cannon fodder 😂

I have over 1k hours in a game called red orchestra 2, great game with squad based combat and spawning. It’s old now but my god in its day it was a blast, great teamwork was always amazing

When 40-50℅ of the kill are made from arty, it is really not fun for infantery. Pov, you follow the order, get shot by a mortar, end of the round. No kill, didn't even see the guy who killed you.
nothing quite like getting stormed in by what your squad leader estimates as 4 arty, 2 grenadiers, 2 flamethrowers, and one bare-naked chad suicide bombing your nearly destroyed bunker with either a gas canister or a grenade

its a bit ironic that theyre trying to form lines and all, but the whole purpose of having lines and keeping formation is useless in this enviroment, you're not exactly getting bombed 24/7 by artillery and have 400k men on the field
I've noticed typically in this game, holding a line has a unique and very nice effect, namely. A wall of bullets kills way better than everyone trying to make precise shots. Because you don't have to be accurate yourself, you ust have to add an undodgable mass of gunfire down range to hit what you want to hit.

How does a game that obviously has this much effort put into it not have an active reload for the musket? Musket reloads in the middle of combat we’re very involved and required lots of skill to be done well. There are numerous stories from the era of “reload duels” where opponents fire and have to try to reload before the other guy does. But you just press one button and your character does an immaculate reload while moving? Why not just have the game play itself if you’re going to automate all the most unique and interesting parts? /rant
Because it's supposed to be enjoyable, and no one wants a fucking QTE every time they need to reload, that's stupid. The closest they could get away with would be what GoW did, make it so you can reduce reload time or buff damage by hitting the reload button again at a specific point during the animation.
@@Ravnesss dude if people are willing to put up with a lengthy reload I think they can handle a quick time event to make it slightly faster. Gears of war did it and it’s fine for them
@@ultimaterecoil1136 yes but that was one additional button press, what the original comment is suggesting is something like: press one button to insert the charge, another different one to insert the bullet, another even more different one to ram the bullet down the barrel, and another different one to ready the firing mechanism. Doing that every time you want to reload would be quite the ordeal, as well as necessitating many keybinds, and I can see how most people would decide it's not worth reloading the weapons, or just setup macros to do the reloads for them and then that's basically cheating.
