I have that same pistol and I've never had any feeding problems with it except for flat nose bullets. Mine will eat anything except those. I fired several different brands of ammo in it and my own reloads and never had a problem.
I have the exact same gun in .45 ACP, has never failed to feed or shoot great regardless of brand ammo.Magtech is the ammo mine likes the best (most accurate).
I've got a Tangfoglio Elite Pro 9mm (Oustanding Weapon)! Next on my list is the Witness Match (like this Gentleman's but in .45) as well as the Witness Steel Compact .45acp. The Tanfoglio and Witness Pistols are all on the CZ Platform and VERY Fine Quality firearms. They are Imported by E.A.A. (European American Arms) in Florida.
The problem with ALL Witness's, Compact or full-size, is that they are boat anchors. I like that the polymers are much lighter, but they feel too awkward for me. I LOVE the balance of the Compact, but I couldnt carry it all day long. I pretty much carry nothing but my Kel Tec PF-9 now. I want to get me a KAHR PM40, but that will have to wait because of the price!
and I agree with him. Steel frame more balanced better accuracy less recoil more durable better shooter so long as you don't carry and it's for home defense in at the range it's much better than any polymer. totally agree!!
Im looking at the Limited Pro 10mm.4.75 Barrel. One thing with a Witness Fullsize, there boat anchors. They work better being carried in a shoulder rig,if you can get one.Esp for a 4,75 barrel. But the grip is unreal and very accurate.
I suspect you've had no problems feeding FMJ rounds and when you said it would only feed Hornadys you were talking about defense rounds. Polish your feed ramp with a Dremmel tool and some Flitz or MAAS metal polish until it shines like a mirror. Once you've done that, it will feed hollow-points all day long. This is the first thing I do with all of my pistols, plus a good cleaning and lubrication job. You'd be surprised how many people buy a gun, take it out of the box and shoot it, without P.M.ing it first. Makes all the difference.
Heavy is fine. With the inside-frame slide mount, the barrel is lower, and with the weight of the steel frame, recoil is more manageable. People talk about the CZ design as if it were a stand-alone invention, but one look at a Browning Hi-Power blows that claim right out of the water. You can still see the DNA of the Browning in the (cough) "CZ clones," and that's a fine pedigree. Trigger pull on DA is somewhere around 12lbs, then drops to neighborhood of 5 on the short, crisp SA follow-ups. Solid gun, well made. Some aftermarket CZ 75b mags are claimed to fit, and EAA mags are said to be pricey, but that's if you just get one. On EAA's website, for the 13-round 9mm compact with manufacturer-recommended part number, the price drops from $40 apiece to $25 each if you buy multiples. $25 bucks is a great price, so just get 2 or 3 and you're good.
So have you found a holster for it? I like it, been thinking of buying one in 10mm to carry in a hybrid IWB holster but haven't found anyone who makes one.
i love me some handguns. i have everything from a $90 lorcin to a $1500 colt, but have never owned or shot a tanfoglio. i was interested in the 10mm but after reading these comments im scared. do the poly frames have problems like the steel? these are kinda a difficult gun to get info on. any suggestions, good or bad would be helpful. great video
U still "carry" this thing? I love mine and Its bullseye at 20yards but it feels like a brick. Best for my glove box or near the bed. But edc? Maybe open carry in allowed states but concealed, nah. Def agree it Does Feel great in the hand tho
eaa is the importer. tanfoglio is the maker the witness line of guns. I have the same gun got it 4-10-15 in it shoots everything I put in it. maybe back when you got yours they had problums with feeding who knows lol
Actually, I got rid of this pistol about a week or so ago. I know I gave it a decent review, and it IS a decent gun. But DAMN is it heavy! For the price, I would maybe recommend a S&W M&P .40, or even a Kahr PM40. They are a LOT lighter, and are the same caliber. I have installed just a couple of upgrades in my Match, for now. I just have a lighter spring and firing pin. I haven't done more to it because I have been converting a Saiga 7.62x39. It's done, so hopefully I can do more soon.
Thanks for informative video. I am a huge CZ fan and seeking a non-1911 10mm, and the EAA Witness / Tanfoglio seems like an affordable option. You mentioned you got rid of yours due to weight. I prefer heavier guns, especially in larger calibers (above .357) as I feel it reduces recoil. This is why I prefer Ruger Redhawk 44 mag over S&W Model 29 (beautiful gun that shoots like crap), and why I chose CZ 75 and Sig P6 over any all polymer Glock, or half polymer half aluminum.
That EA Witness is the first handgun i bought about 2 days after I turned 21. And i sold it lik e an idiot. I could robinhood all my rounds at 25 yards with it. I sold it like an idiot. Wish i still had it
Nah, never measured it. I actually got rid of it. It was just WAY too heavy to carry. I carry my KelTec PF9 everywhere I go now. Want to get me a Kahr or S&W. Weight and carryability is more important to me now. lol
"the only ammo that you can find that feeds correctly" what the hell are you talking about? i have the identical pistol and i fired everytjhing from hornady to shit fed premies. easily 2000 rounds and never had any sort of issue. great pistol , nice and heavy, accurate you really feel it on your side. like you said makes you feel like a man. cxan't relate to the feeding issue though.
I have this gun in a 10.Those rounded slides suck.EAA per my request replaced with older square slide as rounded off ones have less metal and crack. However,i would not recomend this particula gun in a 10.It will work, but only right with mild 10 loads and lack of getting stiffer spring.Slide mass just isn't there for the real 10 round.Go with a Match on up.
if you like old school police holsters search ebay for GOULD GOODRICH SMITH & WESSON S&W 4586 ....fits like a glove..same size frame as the old s & w's
I don't really have any knowledge for you on the Poly frames. Either way, if you plan on carrying any of the Tanfoglio/EAA's, get something else. They are great guns, but there's only like one aftermarket company that makes parts, including holsters. I would just buy something else, honestly.
The barrels on the compacts with the rounded slide are poor quality. The rounded slides are of poor quality.Sent mine back requesting the older slab slide, explained FTF issue.Recieved older slide, black, cool touch and a smoother barrel in feed ramp. They went down hill changing their product and appear to be getting away from those crappy light slides. Also compact should be feed med loads,no heavy.14lb dual spring only.
I bought the EAA Witness compact in .45 ACP and have had at least one failure to chamber a round in all but one single magazine full. This is absolutely unacceptable in ANY handgun. The excuse that "oh, the gun just doesn't LIKE that particular ammo" is, in my humble opinion, bullshit. None of my Ruger pistols cry about what sort of ammo I shoot in them. Neither do my Bersa pistols. Not even my Taurus pistols (and everybody loves to bash Taurus). So I am unimpressed with the Witness.
Frederick, How long have you had your SAR. I am thinking of getting one, will it eat all types of ammo? and is it reliable? Also it is a full size? Please let me know. Thank you.
dewalt1799 I have SAR B6 Compact stainless slide mag holds 13 and it shoots 115 124 and 147 grain 9mm but in the manual it states plus P not recommended. I have heard that people who used Plus P ammo and rapid fire tend to have the firing pin or the guide rod break but with regular ammo rapid fire is fantastic but I usually practice double tap when at the range
dewalt1799 I have had mine for a year now and it is reliable I also carry a Kahr CW9 single stack 9mm great pocket conceal carry pistol made like a Glock nicknamed baby glock
NO unfortunately not. the Tanfoglio mags are "proprietary" as IHCTerra said Buds has them, you can also get them from EAA but buy the 2 pack they're $40 for 1 or $25 if you buy 2 or more
If you can only shoot Hornadys why would you want to keep a pistol like that??? There could come a day where you are in a "pinch" and don't have your Hornadys. Then what do you do??????
"This gun makes me feel like a man"
I love your honesty, brother. Best of luck!
I have that same pistol and I've never had any feeding problems with it except for flat nose bullets. Mine will eat anything except those. I fired several different brands of ammo in it and my own reloads and never had a problem.
Problem is, nearly all .40 S&W is flat nose projectile. Ive polished my ramp to no avail. It will feed projectiles with a more rounded profile.
I have the exact same gun in .45 ACP, has never failed to feed or shoot great regardless of brand ammo.Magtech is the ammo mine likes the best (most accurate).
what holster do you use for it. Just bought the 45acp steel compact and I'm looking for a holster. I'd love recommendations.
Ive got the same gun but its in 10mm.. Its a beast!

Found a 9mm new. On layaway. Very excited.

5Ring 600 grit, 1000, 1500 grit sandpaper, water, gun oil and a lot of patience also works to polish the feed ramp. That's how I did mine.

I use a Dremel on low to medium speed, a soft bullet-shaped tip with Flitz or you may even use toothpaste in a pinch
Beautiful weapon! I have the 9mm and being solid steel it's an easy balance!
Heavy is fine. With the inside-frame slide mount, the barrel is lower, and with the weight of the steel frame, recoil is more manageable.

thank you very much for your honest opinion and saving me the money.
Very nice, I love my EAA Witness Elite Match! Great gun.. I was looking at this model as a carry gun. Have you got any mods for your match?
i have the same pistol chambered in 45 acp. bought it used, and it shoots low, hopefully E.A.A. will fix it or change out the slide.
The Match is 51.0oz LOADED, and the Compact is 42.6oz LOADED.
Thanks for watching!!
So have you found a holster for it? I like it, been thinking of buying one in 10mm to carry in a hybrid IWB holster but haven't found anyone who makes one.
alien gear holsters...
+1 on the Alien Gear. I rock mine OWB but the shell will fit the IWB backer also. Mine has a rail. That is a lot of gun to stuff in your pants.
So even Winchester white box won't feed?
i love me some handguns. i have everything from a $90 lorcin to a $1500 colt, but have never owned or shot a tanfoglio. i was interested in the 10mm but after reading these comments im scared. do the poly frames have problems like the steel? these are kinda a difficult gun to get info on. any suggestions, good or bad would be helpful. great video

Just bought the 45acp steel compact and I'm looking for a holster. I'd love recommendations. What did you use when you still had it xMrPopeyex?

The sar b6pc has two recoil springs. Does this one have two recoil springs as well?
That EA Witness is the first handgun i bought about 2 days after I turned 21. And i sold it lik e an idiot. I could robinhood all my rounds at 25 yards with it. I sold it like an idiot. Wish i still had it
Is there something like an adjustment that can be done to make it feed other JHP ammo? If so, I might look into getting one
Horna-DAY?
+Sherman Hovermale... Poly-MER!?
Nah, never measured it. I actually got rid of it. It was just WAY too heavy to carry. I carry my KelTec PF9 everywhere I go now. Want to get me a Kahr or S&W. Weight and carryability is more important to me now. lol
feed problem replace ejector spring
I think EAA has it at 35 oz. Not too concerned with unloaded weight.
dry firing should be integral in your training. tactical training should include a great deal of dry fire.
"the only ammo that you can find that feeds correctly" what the hell are you talking about? i have the identical pistol and i fired everytjhing from hornady to shit fed premies. easily 2000 rounds and never had any sort of issue. great pistol , nice and heavy, accurate you really feel it on your side. like you said makes you feel like a man. cxan't relate to the feeding issue though.
you know every gun even if its the same isnt exactly the same...

Yeah, I'nn never buy another compact one. Compared to my Match, it's just "odd." lol
Trying to find a good OBW holster. any suggestions?
The price of that gun ??????
+Andrew Meekins, he said at 2:16 it cost about $460, which is a bit high for what it is.
For a steel gun, that's a decent price.
Andrew Meekins it's may 2017.. Buds has these for $ 330.. he waayy overpaid
u know he bought that 5+ years ago right....
Andrew Meekins just picked one up in Indiana for 485
if you like old school police holsters search ebay for GOULD GOODRICH SMITH & WESSON S&W 4586 ....fits like a glove..same size frame as the old s & w's

U won't dry fire it but ull drop the slide on an empty mag... smart.
It is said polu-mer not poly-mer
Get Hornady XTP 124 or 147g4 not 115 & one less in the the magazine.
Going to make us guess the caliber.

put wood grips on it and buy your ammo online
Mrs Hudson < what she said
Get the EAA SAR B6 that's a nicer and lighter pistol well made too.
Frederick,
How long have you had your SAR.
Thank you for your input and appreciate your reply. I think I will go with Kahr CW9 looks really nice and clean.
Have a great day!
Its too bad the italian citizens can't carry these these guns are just as well made or better than any beretta made in italy
do cz or baby eagle mags fit?
NO unfortunately not. the Tanfoglio mags are "proprietary" as IHCTerra said Buds has them, you can also get them from EAA but buy the 2 pack they're $40 for 1 or $25 if you buy 2 or more
CRUSHMACHINES yes
i know the sar cz75 clones take cz mags i was assuming the eaa would as well but not sure now
No they will not. I just tried.
yup. You are way better off with actual CZ guns. Better build without the MIM knockoff parts.
I no longer have this pistol.
If you can only shoot Hornadys why would you want to keep a pistol like that??? There could come a day where you are in a "pinch" and don't have your Hornadys. Then what do you do??????
Doing so hurts nothing. Dry firing CAN affect the firing pin. Do a little research and learn your weapons homie.
