    this ended up taking me a couple of hours to do. i had to rent the steering wheel puller from the auto parts store, and i had to buy a flexible torx screwdriver thingie for $30 that came with the bit. i also had to use a dremel tool to cut a channel on both sides of the plastic cover behind the wheel to be ab le to get to the long torx screws that held it together. i got the clock spring from Jegs for $189 out the door versus $450 from my local auto parts store. thanks for making the video, it helped alot!

    Thanks for posting this video. I was able to change my clock spring in about 45 minutes. The only difference was that I need a T15 Torx to remove those cover screws rather than a T20. Thanks for saving me lots to time and money!!!!

    Watched this video a dozen times, went to the dealer and picked up a clock spring for 535 OTD. Wasn't sure if 2017 was the same as 2016 and below because 2011-2016 all had there clock spring warranty extended to 15 years. Took about 20 minutes to swap, without rushing. On the first test the steering wheel controls and horn didn't work. Found a blown 2 amp clock spring fuse, which makes sense since it didn't just go out, but had a catastrophic failure. I'm guessing the shop that installed my PSC steering last week didn't strap the steering wheel in the center position and it ended up turned 360 degrees to the right. Thanks again.

    Thank you so much for this video! My 2015 Wrangler airbag light turned on when I pulled into my driveway. I didn’t do anything else. I installed a Metalcloak lift about 2 months ago and never had a problem until last night. I’ve read it might be the passenger side seat harness. But, it only came on when I spun the steering wheel. So, yeah. Clock spring. Dealer wants 750 to do it. I’m ordering the part today.
    Have a great day! Thanks again and God bless!

    GET YOUR DEALER TO DO IT FOR FREE. For 2007-2011 Wranglers, there is a recall on this. Check the two NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V288000 and 13V176000. For 2011-2016 Wranglers see NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V288000. My dealership was going to charge me $1600+ for a new airbag on my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. I had to ask 3 different advisors to have the "technician" check the clockspring first. They finally checked and replaced the clock spring under the recall with no cost to me.

Although it fixed the issue I intended, once I connected the battery again my check engine light and traction system lights came on (they were not on before). The scanner is giving me a U110A and U0126 codes. Any idea of what this could be???

    As a long time Jeep owner/lover, I’m about at that point where I’m done with Jeep (aka Chrysler Fiat). 63k miles, I’ve had this clock spring issue, Oil Cooler housing leak, rocker arm engine tick airbag recall. Ridiculous for a vehicle with lower mileage. I’m actually afraid one day the engine will grenade because of their shitty build quality. My 2012 Toyota Tundra has 120k miles and not a single issue. No wonder the company is going downhill.

    great vid thanks! My 2010 Unlimited Sort was caught in the rain couple times this summer and now the horn sounds for a second at ignition and shut off. Do you think it could be the clock spring? Or does that sound like a short due to corrosion? Thanks!

    Great video Thank you. My left hand switches for the menu, and the rear steering wheel switches for radio control went dead in my 2015 JK last week. My cruise control still works. 2013 JKUR - I had my clock spring replaced (supposedly) under warranty years ago. It didn't take a long time for the steering wheel control buttons to stop working properly again. Do you think they ACTUALLY replaced it or is it possible the new one is crap too? Or is there something else that can make the steering wheel buttons work intermittently? Hate to do the clock spring job if it's not going to fix the issue. Thanks for the video. Not a bad job.

    I have a question for you. My 2012 Wrangler out if the blue had no turn signals, wipers,
    Light, or horn. The horn and lights still worked with the key fob lock and unlock like normal. Could this clockspring cause that or more likely whT I think based on other videos amd websites I have read be the TIPM? I had one lady say it might be the clockspring.

    • @BullGearOffRoad
      @BullGearOffRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have seen these issues with a faulty clockspring but I wouldn't be 100% correct on that. I know the horn issue pops up a lot on a faulty clockspring.

    • @BullGearOffRoad
      @BullGearOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That does not seem normal, I hear of maybe 1 every 50-80K miles.. could be something else going on. Jeeps are prone to more weather conditions that could effect it as well though.

    • @BullGearOffRoad
      @BullGearOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, its possible but it could also be the cruise control switch. The horn switch and radio control switch are wired through the cruise control switch, so if it goes bad, the other switches die as well.
