    Thanks Chase! I'm in my sex education unit of health class and while the information about STIs is pretty much the same as what you presented, it's taught with a very cisnormative lense and as a tactic to demotivate teens from having sex. This video will be very helpful to any trans men and non-binary afab people who usually experience dysphoria when these topics are discussed!

      I don`t usually like sending my opinions about certain things, however the cold sore treatment *4HerpesCure .Com* is simply too good to not share due to its quick and efficient results. Two days was all it took for the treatment to work. This early morning, the sores were almost unseen and cured.

    Holy shit.. Just now realizing that the vaccine that the doctor wanted me to start getting when I was 12 was for HPV. She had said it was three shots and it was for an STD that's really common. My mom turned to down because she said I wouldn't have to worry about it because I'm not going to be sexually active in high school or college and that she doesn't want me getting a shot for something she doesn't think is necessary... We'll I'm 16 now, I'm not sexually active but I'd like those shots ASAP

    i've been a fan of your channel for a few weeks now, and i guess all i really have to say is: thank-you so much! all the videos you post are so informative an helpful, and you're so much fun to watch! it's been a bit over a year since i discovered i was trans (i'm currently 17) and your videos have helped me a lot! my whole life i've been trans, i just never really realized it and i just sort of lived with the horrible dysphoria without even knowing what it was, but since discovering your channel i feel so much better and more confident! watching you talk and learning about experiences and stuff has given me so much hope for my future and every time i watch you i feel more and more comfortable with possibly coming out to my friends/family. i'm excited to one day get to a point where i can start the process of starting T and getting the necessary surgeries, and seeing someone like you has motivated me to start planning everything out and has helped me make important decisions. so again, thank you so much! :) i love what you do and i'm so happy to have someone that i can look up to and turn to for my questions (and it's pretty cool we're both canadian, makes me feel a bit more hopeful about the process of starting hormones!)

  • @jamienotprovided8806
    @jamienotprovided8806 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some stuff I'd add about HPV: Fun fact! The kinds that give you warts are not the kinds that give you cancer. Depressing part of this? People (including me) are soooo squicked out by the idea of 'genital warts' that the 'just potential cancer' is a relief. Also: while it can take a while, you do eventually 'clear' the virus.The age limit for the vaccine is somewhat arbitrary, but it does basically control what you'll be able to get insurance to pay for. Also: you probably have (or have had) one or more strains by the time you're too old to get the vaccine covered.
    There is such a thing as too much testing. Why? Because the monitoring / interventions are... at best uncomfy and overly frequent, even as someone who didn't have bottom dysphoria while I was dealing with all this. Most HPV infections that you get when you are young are going to clear up with no medical intervention at all. (The testing recommendations have changed to match - my gyno didn't do a pap at all this year. I'm NOT saying 'don't get tested'. But the recommendations exist for good reasons, and lots more testing is clinically shown to be worse than the potential delay in detecting cancer.)
    Now, some of the adverse results are entirely about fertility. So for trans guys already planning on having a hysto... make sure your doctor is not just going through standard follow-ups intended to catch it at the early stages to minimize fertility issues due to treatment.
    Dentists (at least in the US) now do some monitoring for oral cancers. You don't have to smoke to be at risk. If you can get vaccinated it is an important way to protect people you care about (which hopefully includes yourself).
    Why not tests for cis men? It's not because it's totally impossible, it's because the information is basically useless, will make you freak the fuck out, and because disclosing the risk to people is shitty the first few times. The reason for testing at all is to monitor potentially abnormal cell growth from pap tests. It's a lot more like chicken pox and shingles risks... and not so much like gonorrhea or HSV. (btw - over 80% of people are exposed to HSV, and part of the reason that doctors don't want to run the test is that often there's nothing useful you can do with the information at all... the type doesn't even tell you whether it's on your junk or your mouth, and many people never have an outbreak at all.)

    Well done! You should also mention that PREP reduces the risk of HIV transmission but it does NOT prevent any of the other STD you so cleverly described. For most people, it is easier to have sex and than to talk about it. STD should be part of your health strategy, talk to your doctor about it. And please do have as much as as you want. Thanks Chase.

  • @dylpickle422
    @dylpickle422 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Chase, I absolutely adore you and I'm so glad that you made both of these informative videos. In the United States, most to all of the sex education is abstinence-based (which is ridiculous because people are going to have sex no matter what), so people don't know what to do if they do decide to have sex and how to protect themselves and others. Thankfully, my girlfriend and I are quite educated about STI's and the ways that they can be spread and we try to inform and help others if they have any questions or concerns about this topic. I hope that you continue to spread this wonderful information and resource to inform people about the possible risks and prevention of STI's. I applaud you and you're honestly my favorite. Ok this got a little long and sappy, but I just think you're wonderful.

    Random “fun” thing about the HPV vaccines: they can make you feel lightheaded! (I think it has something to do with blood sugar or blood pressure??) It seems to be uncommon but it happened to me on my 3rd shot even though I never had any adverse reactions to the first two shots. The doctors said it could be stress-related and I think that’s what it was since I was going through a lot of stress at that time.

    Gotta be honest, I didn't get my hole checked for two years because of dysphoria and in those two years, I only had 2 sexual partners. But recently found out I contracted HPV. I had to get some biopsies done (it hurt like a mother fucker and it's left me dysphoric) and I'm still waiting for the results as to how far along it is. I went to a Planned Parenthood. They have been wonderful about the tests and super affirming. I honestly wouldn't trust any other GP to do my pap. Even my doc that I just started seeing knows I'm trans and I overheard her misgender to me to a nurse. AND she's had trans patients before.. so there's that. So honestly, I get that its dysphoric ya'll but a PP is your best bet!

      I would like to talk about my encounter with this herpes treatment method *4HerpesCure .Com* In the beginning I was skeptic but slowly the results proved that I was wrong. I had been reluctant; it`s difficult to imagine that it can cure something such as this and make yourself look much better. I did, and you could, as well. Once you start performing the treatment method in hopes of getting better and not stopping, you`re already halfway to getting rid of the cold sore for life.

    Kudos for the video, lots of information that people don't know about - especially in our community.
    One question, will you make a video in your series on HOW those various STIs can be contracted and what are the risks? e.g. for people who don't have front-hole penetrative sex, or who use a prosthetic, or who have had phalloplasty. (I'm personally very interested if you have any info on the last point because we obviously can't look at data from cis guys and I couldn't find anything)

    For the HIV quick test...If only 90% of people who have developed antibodies to HIV have enough to test positive on the quick test, wouldn't that mean that a negative result would need to follow up with a blood test? If you test positive with the quick test then you have the antibodies and therefore the infection. It seems like it would be easier to get a false negative than a false positive. Please correct me if I'm wrong or misunderstanding something.

    I agree with you that PEP and PREP are wonderful ground breaking feats of medicine. People also need to be aware of the reactions that people have from these Drugs. Anyone that has taken PEP will tell you about the side effects are awful, PREP is a similar drug. My concern is that people will take it as you said like a contraceptive, which will have pretty nasty affects on your health. It's also worth mentioning that neither of these will not treat any other STI's that may have been contracted, They Will only treat HIV.

    Me and my boyfriend are both FtM and we do have sex. He has had multiple sexual partners, both with penises and vaginas, but he's the only person I've had sex with. Im about 99% sure he's clean, but I'm still scared after watching this video that he /may/ have something just because of how many people he's had sex with. I've only touched his genitals with my hands, but he's touched mine with his hands and mouth (scandalous I know).
    Speaking in worst case scenario, how high of a risk do I have of having some sort of STI at this point?

    Hey there are vaccines for HPV. Many clinics may offer it for free even if you are above the covered age of 26.

    Can I message you on some things please? I need to talk to you about some things. Did you know skylar has a STI last year? Ever since I heard that he got is I stopped using the gym locker rooms and I clean every thing at the gym too! I got tested 6 years ago and I don't do any thing at all when it comes to sex of any thing! But even if your not having sex you still can get some thing. One of the places is the gym you really don't know who have what and some times I don't even want to go to the gym because of what is floating around in the air. As a trans guy I feel that I want to have a partner and live a happy life! But there are things like every thing you just said and more. I feel that if you going to be with some one you need to be open with how your sex life is. Because you don't want to make some one really sick. I was with some one years ago and this person was a jerk! This guy was with 3-6 other girls. I feel that he really has not care in the world if some thing ever happens and I feel sorry too all the girls he played and did things too. We no longer talk or any thing really! But no matter if you are not doing any thing please be safe when it comes to any kind of sex. I have a friend that is a sex therapist and I talk to her some times about things.Plus they are the kind of things I can never talk to about to my mom or dad about. You and my friend have the same what about teaching about safe sex and I love that you are teaching people about safe sex. Can you talk about getting sick from gyms please for a video? Love yah chase and am starting a new youtube channel tomorrow ok really today! But it is about FTM, non gender and more! I have started supplements. Don't be mad but I'll be doing a video on why I am not going on t! But again thanks you for being such a start, brave and cute guy to be starting some thing new on youtube. Love you why to fn much! HUGS!

      Hey, you're not going to get an STI from going to the gym/gym locker room unless you cut your foot on something and someone else also cut their foot and you are touching each other's feet. Same goes with any other type of cut. This stuff is very scary, but you cannot "catch" any of it through air. The closest thing I would say would be if someone is talking to you (and they have herpes) and a little bit if saliva comes out of their mouth and lands in a cut or your mucous membranes, the % is lower than if you have direct contact with a sore, but you may contract herpes. But you're ok going to the gym

      Oh good! Thank you dr chase! I'm going to do some deep research on this whole trans bath room thing and might do a video for it soon. Can you do it too for canada bath rooms? I want every one to be able to pee! Because we are dorks when it comes to getting up and stop working for a minute to go or to freaked out to go in to the males bath room. I went in to the males bath room in canada last summer and I passed from the back but when the guy at the store saw me he gave me a weird look! Can you do a video or just give me some advice on coming out to my mom. She might know but I don't know. You need to be a sex ed teacher. You are really smart and you learn fast! My friend she goes to schools and talks to the teachers and parents about sex. I think she talks to the teens but I dont really know. I love that your starting this and because your the best teacher I have ever gotten to ever. Plus you dont make things weird unless you need to. HUGS and thank you your every thing and more with cuteness being one!

    Can herpes be transmitted through saliva?

    • @uppercaseCHASE1
      @uppercaseCHASE1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Max Muse Hey! It is possible for herpes to be transmitted through saliva, most likely when the person has an outbreak but it can also be transmitted if the person doesn't have an outbreak.
      "herpes through saliva happens as a result of kissing. Those who kiss others during a herpes outbreak especially risk spreading the infection. It is even possible to spread the virus when an outbreak is not taking place, but it may be harder to do at that point."

    Okay I'm asexual and I'm not going to have sex but would I benefit from getting tested?

    • @jayfirefang
      @jayfirefang 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may benefit from getting tested if you are put in certain situations. Any form of contact with another's body fluids could potentially be a risk for contracting an sti. More than likely blood to blood or blood to sore contact is what you should worry about. As far as i know you are very unlikely to contract most diseases from things like sweat and saliva. But say you are put into a situation where someone needs help with a cut or something and you do not know their status it will benefit you if you go to get tested. Usually it is just a simple blood test and urine test it takes maybe 15 min max.
