That was really, really, beautiful man. Something special... The hours of practice, whether or not that arrangement was difficult for you when you learned it or not, the self-criticism that comes with being an artist/human being; the road you followed that's brought you to that point. No ego, no sense of anything other than just a very apparent and pure love, appreciation, concentration and connection to music. Ahh man, just got hit with a wave of random emotion a few seconds after this ended. Crying a good cry of gratitude. This is why I love the internet. Best soulful, performance of Clair de Lune on guitar. The choice of a Jazz guitar, and the Key were perfect, making this very challenging piece sound like Debussy intended it for guitar. Fantastic achievement, and thanks for sharing your talent. I thoroughly enjoyed it. 👍😎👏

9 years later, this hits so hard.
He's relating with the melody and letting it massage him, at the same time. It's immersion and a complete meditation. We place ourselves inside of his head, move from side to side with it and bathe ourselves in the complete continuing and developing moment.

oh this is the guitar academy arrangement. took me 7 hours to turn into tabs. hand movements look so much easier on electric guitar. great performance btw

You play beautifully. You obviously understand the song. I don’t know if you fully understand the theory behind the harmony, but you play it in such a way that you clearly hear what’s going on. You are a wonderful guitarist. I don’t care if you never post anything again. You play wonderfully. You bring beauty to the world.

Shit you not my friend this is one of the most inspiring things I’ve ever seen played on a jazz guitar, you’re making me wanna buy a 175 knockoff and practise for hours in the hope I sound anywhere near this, just phenomenal playing without trying to be flashy and getting an amazing sound out of the instrument. Roi, i always considered Debussy like a godfather and inventor of “jazz“ music. Just like Erik Satie and Ravel. Jazz was heavily influenced and based on classical impresionist and modern 20th century classical composers.
+Theo Martin Franz Liszt and Bach were also a heavy influence in jazz.Franz Liszt's harmony progressions are all over jazz.And Bach,well every jazz improvisation is basically a fugue.

Of course. Rag-time and Dixieland (early jazz) have european classical music form and harmony based mostly on dances (watlz, polka, marches, french quadrilles).
Many White or Black jazz musicians were classically trained and they used a lot of classical harmonies. Especially from composers like Rachmaninoff. Just listen his concert for piano number 2 written in 1900 ( 20-30 years before jazz was born). It is full with genious harmonies and harmony progressions.
