You can do this with just wood. Just have to be fast with the last 2 wooden beams as they may break and you need to try a couple times to place the beacon on top of the wooden beams. I go into this mission with 10 ladders and 60 wooden beams.
I did this solo and I never needed the second beacon. Also there's two caves right next to the scan spots that are a bit more convenient for this prospect.
One thing I learned, if you're going into the desert, don't do anything until you made at least 10 healing potions and 10 bandages minimum. Cougars will always rip you a new one, scorpions are easy to keep out of harms reach. There are a ton of cougars and scorpions to deal with in the desert, so plan accordingly. If you start a fight with a scorpion, it alerts other scorpions and cougars in the area. I hope this helps.
up i tried to do it alone in hardcore mod but the location of the objective after i take the beacon doesn't appear on my map so i don't know if i can do the mission if its buged or not
Same thing with me, I took 1 beacon out of the drop. Nothing happened so I placed it on the ground and took the 2nd one out and still nothing changed. went to the location and saw no blue zones to place them. Just gonna say screw this mission and run back and go to space lol
