there will never be a movie even similar to this ever again.this is the first and the last movie that i would call a masterpiece 100/10. I'm so grateful to my boyfriend, who just recently showed me this movie :) i cried almost through the whole thing
Film trickery has always been a thing. Lumier Bros. Train Arrival, arguably the first commercial film ever, was shot using trick shots, and From Here to the Moon used a LOT of special effects.
This what happens to Jenny at the end of the movie she turns into a bird cause she wished to be a bird in her youth and after she died God gave her her wish which explains the feather at the start and end
My opinion ,,Feather referred to forrest gump himself.. I think his brain is weighting a feather taking him on the top "successes" and the wind "life" swing him all around
+Labyrinth Fan Actually, the main point of the feather was that they fly in the air wherever the wind takes them and land on the ground wherever the wind takes them and Forrest had something in common with that feather where Forrest didn't know who in his life he will meet, where he will go in his life, what he will do in his life, etc. where he felt he will go wherever the wind takes him just like the feather goes where the wind takes it. That was the main reason he picked it up here and put it in his briefcase feeling he has something in common with it.
i just visited Savannah, GA (where this scene was filmed) and one of the coolest things the tour guide pointed out was this square and that church with the tall steeple ;)
"Why the feather? Why the feather?" Movie viewers got their answer 142 minutes later, just as the feather flew into the camera and everything went black. So masterful. A friend told me a little about this movie soon after it came out. I asked him, "Well, what's it about?" and he really couldn't tell me. (How can you properly describe it?) At times it's hilarious, at other times heartbreakingly sad. The great mysteries of life, love and loss so beautifully bound in one unforgettable movie.
"I dont know if momma was right, or if it's lieutenant Dan. I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if were all just floating accidental like on a breeze, but I think... maybe it's both. Maybe it's both happening at the same time."
Few month ago, I found a black feather with a green-red-ish edge on the sidewalk. I picked it up, and carried it in my hand, and still have it in my house, on a table.
My favorite movie by a long shot. I watch it at least twice a year. It takes me all over the emotional roller coaster.....crying one minute....laughing out loud the next. Best movie ever made!
i was born in 1957 and all of you fellow boomers i know will say it was the most incredible growing up years anybody, past or present, could ever possibly have wanted.

This score has a Japanese counterpart in the score composed for Hirokazu Kore-Eda's masterpiece "Maborosi", both are outstanding as the movies they were composed for.
Don Burgess should have won the Academy Award this year for this single shot alone. Hard to believe that he wasn't even nominated. This is right up there with Touch of Evil's opening sequence.
Tom hanks best performance of his career. Was captain Phillips. In the closing moments of that movie. I don't think I ever saw hanks act as well as he had done
@@The_Real_Slim_Shadow94 You do know there’s a community of siren enthusiasts you little shit biscuit some people like sirens okay? Now go back to what side of TH-cam you came from.
I've always liked to believe that feather is a piece of his mother's spirit coming down to give him guidance in the next year to come, in losing Jenny and gaining a Son.
+Evil Gopher Actually, the main point of the feather was that they fly in the air wherever the wind takes them and land on the ground wherever the wind takes them and Forrest had something in common with that feather where Forrest didn't know who in his life he will meet, where he will go in his life, what he will do in his life, etc. where he felt he will go wherever the wind takes him just like the feather goes where the wind takes it. That was the main reason he picked it up here and put it in his briefcase feeling he has something in common with it.
The innocent, painful, solitary, luminous, soaring, living, dying pinions of knowing, being, and understanding that make up a single feather in the wind.
The movie starts and he's waiting for a bus. Two hours later and he's _still_ waiting for his bus. That town has a horrible public transportation system for that specific route. The guy meets Elvis, gets a scholarship to play football, goes to Vietnam, gets a purple heart medal, meets JFK, meets LBJ, goes through a hurricane, gets stock in a major company...The odds of ONE person doing *all* of that is just absurd.
+B D T The main point of the feather was that they fly in the air wherever the wind takes them and land on the ground wherever the wind takes them and Forrest had something in common with that feather where Forrest didn't know who in his life he will meet, where he will go in his life, what he will do in his life, etc. where he felt he will go wherever the wind takes him just like the feather goes where the wind takes it. The music, the feather, the randomness of life, this is the kind of art that life is worth living for. When I die, I'll have this song at my funeral.
ptfunnypoet I thought of this song for my funeral to my friend
Joaquín Raúl Ramírez you are a good man.
This will be played on my funeral too, I already decide that as a young man. It's just beautiful.

A time when CGI was used to serve a film rather than drape over it.
