If AI was really intelligent it would say "oi, human, stop writing articles on chocolate chip cookies, there are too many already. Find something original to write about". A lot of the articles I write are unusual and sometimes unique combinations of a STEM topic and a programming language. Admittedly they are often very niche but I'm surprised how many people are actually interested in them.
My typical workflow is to research a topic to the point where I can explain it in an engaging and easy to understand way, usually with manually created graphics and diagrams, and then write and explain some code. I can't imagine AI being able to do that for a very long time.

Great video, Zulie! I've been using AI in my SEO blog posts for over two years and have had a lot of success getting AI-assisted content to rank. The key is using a collaborative approach with AI in a way that leverages its efficiency while still capturing your unique ideas, expertise, and experience. That's why I'm not a big fan of "one-click" article generators, especially the ones that create content in bulk, because there's no way to insert yourself or your ideas into the process.

Thanks for sharing! Also, huge fan of your articles on MEdium -- I recently used your lowfruits/ChatGPT+ combo process for keywords very successfully!

Hi Zulie - I think you nailed the truth of using AI in writing and SEO's. And that is its use as an outline and/or idea generator. AI is in early development in terms of its public use and it seems magical in its abilities. These abilities will only improve. But I think the human desire to read work written by humans is akin to the human desire to read a printed book. There's a kind of real, visceral experience to enjoy. And people love technology and robots and all that stuff, but there is no substitute for humans. As you so wonderfully explained, AI is a tool. And your stats on increased hits on your website just affirmed the reality of AI's limitations. The desire to gain an advantage with little or no work is an unfortunate reality. At least with SEO's and AI, it's not the hoped for advantage. Thank you for your clarity.

❤ the outside setting! This is great info. Thanks for sharing and validating my grumpy angst on being a content mill.

Hey Julie, wow, hank you so much for your content. I love the humanness of it! I love the humour, the interesting genuine opinions. You really calmed me down with real educated common sense on this topic.

    Hi Zulie,
Thank you for this post. You did an excellent job explaining AI and SEO in more detail than most videos I’ve viewed. While AI can help, at the end of the day, you still must be a good writer and do the hard work. Don

My 2 cents on AI, like you hinted at in a few places, is that it can only (beyond outlines and such) provide and regurgitate what has already gone before (Stop! Thief!). So far at least, AI’s ability to create completely unexpected ideas, at least in the creative / arts field, other than some rather interesting yet utterly random stuff, has seemed non existent. I’m sure AI can copy a Joni Mitchell but I doubt it could ever have created one. And yeah “race to the bottom”. If people like reading robotic text / crap, this is just going to be a more efficient way to provide it to them. I think, possibly, the biggest discussion we need to be having is whether people actually read or not… and if not, how do we get them to. Super video.

It can do all of those things that Kyle said it can't (like tone etc). It's kind of meh at SEO but it's better than the average blogger by far which is super helpful at leveling the playing field. It all comes down to quality of prompt and context provided.
You made an interesting point though. Personality is hard to fake, what makes you uniquely you is what captivates a lot of readers, depending on the topic, and you definitely need to edit and add in your flavor.

This is such a great piece. I agree with your assessment for today, and LOVE the scientific approach.
I would push back on what the guest shared about AI not being able to “do tone” - it absolutely can, with the right prompting. Not perfectly, but it has to be prompted using positive and negative examples or it WILL be that generic word salad style.
Where do you see this going 6 months from now as these AI tools improve?

With the MPP addition/changes how have your earnings been affected? You've seen a big drop too? Please if can be honest, it just doesn't seem Medium has good ROI or return on my time invested compared to other platforms like making educational YT videos. How are you doing on Medium these days big change?

Hi Zulie, have you read Tony Stubblebine's new article about their attempts to block Medium articles from being used to train AI? If not it's very good, maybe worth another video?

SEO should be seen as both a tool and a teammate but it has its limits like everything else for sure. Also unrelated but on medium is it possible to charge writers a submission fee if you made a publication of your own?

    • @ZulieWrites
      @ZulieWrites  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Technically, it's possible to charge a fee, but I think that misses the spirit of publications on Medium. The beauty of them is that they're free to all voices, all writers. IMHO it should be the quality of the writing, not the amount of money that gets people published.

Can you talk about Medium delaying the partner program to 60+ countries again.
