You lambs looked fine why trim if no need its just extra time / work that wouldn't have made you any money , i always gave information out in the ring such as 2 injections hep p and only ever been on old grass , no feed , this give buyers confidence that they will go on and thrive . You need to buy a set of Burdizzo's or get better at ringing the 13 rigs etc lost you about £ 260 , you may have been better keeping them on your best grass and giving some nuts to finish them for £120+ in a month or so
The ewe with stubby ears had yellowsis (photosensitization ) when she was a lamb . So Rosie wants a more uniform flock but will keep non white faces if cute ??? . When you talk about breeds , Lleyn come in different types great big leaner type or shorter stocky type , Cheviot has Lairg type ( hill northies ) southies ( hill cheviot ) Border type and Caithness type all slightly different in size and ability , so first settle on type of both breeds . As an example you could have flock A pure Lleyn using your best shaped and producing ewes only keeping lambs from twin birth' s that require no assistance with surplus lambs going to flock B pure Lleyn crossed with Border type northie rams to produce x ewes for flock C ( the largest group ) which go to suffolk rams for prime lamb . A quick ear notch after birth would define ewes for flocks A B either left or right for ever
Thanks for your comment - we really appreciate the advice and will look into the breeds a bit more before we decide to buy more tups. No I was just joking about keeping non white faces if cute. She just wants to keep some of her ewe lambs that are Suffolk cross as a bit of an experiment and potentially try lambing a wee flock in-doors slightly earlier on.
Great video the lambs done well 👌
Cheers pal! 👍🏼

Thanks for the suggestions Robert, really useful! You better brace yourself though, there’s more rigs in the next lamb video 😅😂
Texel x mule is better in my Opion that is all I had always had good luck with them
Interesting, thank you!
@@ewansimpson4736 mule would not suit their system. Too many lambs and needs too much food
