- I bought this cheap VW Transporter T5 a few weeks ago for £3000 and it has over 250k miles on it, we have some big plans for this van including a media vehicle, a motorbike transporter, a tow vehicle AND a camper van! So we have a long way to go as we have some big shoes to fill.. let's get started!
Today we are updating the entire look of the T5 and are doing a full T5.1 facelift upgrade, otherwise known as a T5.1 conversion. So we are taking the full front end off a T5.1 which is a newer facelift transporter and putting it on our older T5!
IT LOOKS AWESOME! Now lets get on to the other jobs...

Yes transporter .. my t5 has had the t6.1 front end conversion and if u contact transporter HQ and purchase the t6.1 rear style lights for the t5 they look sick.

Got to add a wrap and have it fade from the grey to white with some kind of cool design graphics.
I've taken my T5.1 bumper off so many times that I've become an expert with where all the bolts are.
Lockwood still saying nuts instead of bolts and insread of screws 😂 never gets old
There's a sub harness that sits on top of the driver's side light that carrys power and ground for the coolant bottle
My vw t4 has 6 bolts holding the bumper on and 4 of those are missing 😉🤣🤣
You had a real dry spell with content a while ago but it does seem like Lockwood is back ... great video ...keep it going Lee

I’d facelift the rear lights and then wrap it all grey like the front
Should have got a t4, better engine. 4 bolts hold my front bumper on 🤣

Where did you get the front end from ? I've looked at reg plate king but only see number plates

My drive is literally the same as yours 😂 a t5 and an e46 convertible 👍👍. Looks decent to be fair. I'm keeping my pre facelift as its a caravelle one.

@3:34 “what is the point” The point is it’s a workhorse designed by German engineers to be a workhorse so they built it well and built it to last. If you want something with 3 bolts holding it on then that’s when it’s time to look at an Italian or French built wagon 🤷🏼♀️

Did you manage to put all 4 headlight bolts in ? Am told you need a T5.1 slam panel for the headlights to bolt down . Ive watched your video over and over but dont see anything, am bloody stressed here . Got the slam panel but dont want to go that far . Please advise

Swap the new loom over to the other light, had the same type of issue with my Audi a3, I put the offside rear into the near side etc. and all the lights were not turning the correct lights on

Make it easier on yourself and just wrap the lower half gunmetal grey to match the front end.

Just wrap the roof the same colour as the bonnet and call it a day. Or paint it.
This brings back terrible memories from when I had to change the intercooler and radiator on a t5 😂
