I couldn’t get this idea out of my head and a lot of you seemed interested in it so I thought I’d go through with it! I thought the themes of this really fit the 7yg and Phoenix before the ending of aa4 especially burnhams thoughts that he thought he would be done with his project before turning 30. I imagine that Phoenix thought his disbarment would be done before he turned 30.
This animatic was drawn all on notecards and overlaid with colors in procreate. Sorry some pics are a little fuzzy I have a very old and broken phone.

Never heard the song before, but from the first line "I used to run for Miles" I understood that this song is a perfect match XD
I think what hits so hard about it is that Phoenix _did_ do amazing things in his early 20s, unbelievably amazing, but then all of a sudden his life gets thrown in a ditch and he's stalled out for nearly a decade. And all of the hurt in the song is just little things he regrets that build and build until it's overwhelming.
I do like interpretations that post-reinstatement Phoenix's life is richer and happier than it was pre-disbarment because he has damn well earned that happiness, but I don't see 7yg survival mechanisms and trauma going away altogether.

I love how clearly you differentiate Pre and Post-disbarment Phoenix, his turmoil and regret, the moment with Kristoph and the snake, Phoenix at Mia's grave, Phoenix with Maya as the Master,,,, just. everything. angsty and so well drawn and i am for no particular reason absolutely obsessed with how you draw Phoenix's hair post-disbarment ahhhh this is lovely!

Teenage Cody is the best thing ever. Ur design for him is so top notch. The shot w Phoenix at Mia’s grave and Kristoph n Phoenix and the snake gets me every time,,, when the old cast flashes over the AA4 cast makes me cry. Like fuck. those r some feelings

i love how the passage of time is also illustrated in how the people around him change and grow (especially the people younger than him).. and the use of the yellow & blue for past/present!! and the bit with the stupid children ohh it works so well.... the Really Rough Stuff is also executed so well. The part where he's inside the bottle? godddamn that hits

This is amazing at capturing Phoenix's emotions and burnout, how he's lost his way and is tired with life after losing his badge and peaking in his relative youth, and showing that despite the love and support of those around him he isn't able to rise out of the haze of loss and depression that's seeped into his life.
But (and I recognize that this is entirely me being pedantic) Will Powers is actually younger than Phoenix.

Man I think about this animatic a lot…. the first chorus at 0:40 showing Phoenix’s friends moving forward with their lives while he’s feels stagnant and trapped (in a wine bottle!) … and then the changing of the guard at the end makes me so emotional 😭

Haha thanks. That actually really means a lot to me. I try not to let views or stuff really get me cuz if I chase the algorithm I’ll go insane, but it was pretty disheartening to other artists get more attention
@@easternCriminal If it means anything at all your work inspired me a lot :,) There are several videos of yours that really left an impression in my mind, I think it's because how you focus on conveying interesting ideas instead of polish, if that makes sense. Not to downplay other artists work of course, but I really liked how you make "making animatics" seem a lot less intimidating in that way. anyways keep up the good work👍

I don't know anything about Phoenix Wright but for some reason I have been randomly watching a lot of animatics and comic dubs of it. Maybe I should play a few of the games... They are games right?
That is how it started for me as well and I don't regret getting into the games, they are amazing. Although you should have a bit of time on your hands, there are a lot of them.
Lol watching ace attorney animatics is what I did to try and determine if I wanted to play too! It is a game. I’ve only played the first trilogy on Nintendo switch and then watched play through for the others :) highly recommend
