+Barry Oh you very biased Irish people. I'm kidding - for all I know you may not be Irish! I've visited Ireland twice and absolutely adored everything about the country.. The people were wonderful and I loved the fact that the country was saturated with music. No matter where we visited, we always managed to find a pub/club with someone playing and singing live music. Love Hozier. He's so humble and talented. Wish him much success in the future.
It sounds more like he's been taken to the head teacher's office for an apology rather than an actual interview with an amazing and genuinely nice person.
I'm sorry but it annoys me when interviewers get things wrong, the song is called 'From Eden' not just 'Eden'. It doesn't take much to have a quick check of that before going live...
yes but to be fair they interview hundreds of people and also if they weren't conscious of the issue then how on earth would they know to check on google to correct themselves of the issue that they didn't know existed?
What an immensely talented and soulful singer/musician! Good god, his song "take me to church" struck a VERY familiar chord with me, and even made me cry.... oh man, he is an Indigo!!! Awesome, just totally awesome. :)
plumlogan Oh, the term is fully expressed as "Indigo Child" or "Star Child". It refers to special children being born starting in the 1950's/1960's who have an indigo aura and special gifts. Supposedly the amount of indigo children or star children have increased with each passing decade. They have been specially sent here at this point in time to help humanity.
KaleidoscopeMagic Interesting. I assumed it must be something along those lines, though I had never heard the term before. I have heard of a star child, but only in relationship to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey
I think it's a great message he sends in Take me to church. I can't say I get every line in it but what he talks about in this interview is so true. Sex gets soooo shamed in society and I think it needs to stop
The video for Take Me To Church attempts to shine a spotlight on the horrific treatment of LGBT people in Russia. Thanks to their "Don't Say Gay" bill, it's not a crime to even discuss homosexuality. If you speak out in support of your gay brother, sister, or neighbour you could be fined or jailed. If you're actually gay, the punishment is much worse. This law, and others like it, are insidious in that the message they send is this: Gay people are "less than" and don't deserve any rights. Which in turn leads to homophobes thinking that anti-gay violence is okay. And in Russia it is. If a gay person is attacked or even killed in Russia, the police don't investigate. They might even participate. Take Me To Church told the entire world about the evil Russian law. Thank you Hozier!!
It's so awful to think there live people in this world who make up rules like this. I would call them animals but animals would never behave like this. Thank you for telling the story.
+suvariboy do not post anything you're not aware of, please. This is such a ridiculous lie about Russia that the police does not investigate a murder of a gay person... Your words are soooo exaggerated...
I came to know and appreciate the song "Take me to church", just a week ago. I "knew" it, from the first time I heard it that he must have been inspired by gospel. Dang! Let all semantics aside; put the song in your own context and focus on the sentiment of it and you end up with a powerful artistic achievement, meant to last for decades to come. Well done👌
This cat's very talented. It was love at first sight n sound. Sigh. Those Irishmen. Just saying "Emm..." sends me. (Brings to mind Larry Mullen, Jr.) We have our Latin Lovers. There are Italian Stallions. But those Irishmen...I can't even type without smiling. Got a grown-ass sista blushin' over here. =-P
Hahahaha girl I am right there with you. What should we call these Irishmen? Along the lines of Latin Lovers and Italian Stallions.. how about Irish Poets?
Start of the interview, two very British hosts wonder why they have to interview this Irish Country bumkin.. End of the interview, they are captivated by this enigmatic man.. Preconvictions destroyed in minutes..
No. He didn't grow up in Bray, he went to school there at St Gerards or Geralds or something. There's a small town in Wicklow called Newcastle which is where he is from.
Regardless, with dad a drummer/banker/sound engineer, mom a fine artist/former restauranteur, brother a filmmaker and academician, and he a product of posh private school where he rubbed elbows with Chris DeBurgh's and Caroline Downey's kids, the country bumpkin appellation definitely doesn't apply.
while I agree to an extent, I think the original message of the song is very important, and he wrote this song to get a very specific message across to people.
His smile!!!!! What a charming, eloquent and smart man, not to mention incredibly talented
Such a class guy. Irish people are very talented another amazing artist from a fairly small country.

can they actually acknowledge his answers instead of quickly moving on or inturrupting him?
Start of the interview, two very British hosts wonder why they have to interview this Irish Country bumkin.. End of the interview, they are captivated by this enigmatic man.. Preconvictions destroyed in minutes..
If they had heard him sing at all, then they were never wondering.
***** hes actually from bray which is in wicklow
His family actually lives in Newcastle, not that I have any idea how rural or urban that is. Went to school in Bray.

She does that a lot.

So awkward without music xd
the only thing that bugs me about this, is that no one pays enough attention to Cherry Wine and Like Real People Do
Omg he so hot and gorgeous ❤️
He's a big dude
YES, THE SONG IS ABOUT SEX. OKAY? can we chill now?
I have never heard anyone pronounce “controversy” that way.
That’s how we pronounce it in the U.K.
I wish he wasn't interviewed. He should let people give it their own interpretation.
while I agree to an extent, I think the original message of the song is very important, and he wrote this song to get a very specific message across to people.
per favore tradurre in itliano
