The mayor said they lowered it to $36M over three years lol but Fisher can’t say no to someone else paying for his things like mommy still does
They can pay Sacramento $12 million per year but could only pay Oakland $1.5 million per year? No wonder Oakland told Fisher to GFH.
Here is the problem that few will report. The JPA, which represents the County, was NOT onboard to anything the Mayor was proposing. You can't negotiate with two parties who don't know what they want, at least in a short time frame. If people honestly reported this story you would know. But its more sexy to blame "John Fisher" for everything.
News reported $60m over three years....maybe things change so fast or Oakland just can't get their
story right. Going with the latter. If Oaklaned/Thao truly cared then START with $36M over three years.
Otherwise, it just signals, Oakland BSed the whole thing. Jacking up to come down. But no bite, just left.
Of course the funny part is that i can't tell if she's making up an absurd lie or that she was willing to undercut the city's "final offer" by 62.9%.
@@user-pw3ji3rn3s and he is 🤮who ran a team into the ground so not sexy to me.
The should be called the Triple AAAs
I’m seeing triple here. Nine A’s.
You win.
The A's triple A team is better and more fun to watch than the MLB A's.
The pathetics
LOL. It really does suck though that Oakland loses their team. Their '70s and '80s teams were iconic.
The Las Vegas A’s of Sacramento Formerly of Oakland.
…, Kansas City, and Philadelphia.
Sacramento Oakland Kansas City Philadelphia A's of Las Vegas 😅
Even though I'm a Mariners fan and the A's are a rival, this is just depressing to watch. That owner may be one of the biggest jerks in sports (now that Dan Snyder is gone). To me the ideal situation is that no one can pony up a stadium and the A's wander from triple A field to triple A field for a decade, eventually ending up in Yuma AZ.
HOW ABOUT; THE WONDERING HEBREW A'S OF THE SANAI DESERT
I think Tom Gores is up there too
The team formerly known as the Oakland A's. Like Prince 😂
Samson should make more appearances. It’s interesting to hear his prospective with his experience.
Basically the only former exec who is this open and actually interested in broadcasting.
I like that guy Samson. Whats that giant right he's wearing?

I don’t know who David Sampson is, but I’ve been watching a lot of this podcast episode. He should be the primary replacement when Rich isn’t around during the baseball season. Love his brutal honesty.

vice president of the expos from 99 to 02, Former president of the Marlins 2002-2017. His stepfather, Jeffrey Loria was one of the worst owners ever
In my lifetime I've now seen both the Washington Football Team and the Unspecified Location Athletics. Incredible.
Let's not forget the Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim
Stuff like this has a long history in professional sports. Nothing really incredible about it, but in the future it seems less likely because the teams are becoming so valuable that they're being bought these days by consortiums/groups rather than individual owners, so you won't have as many idiots like John Fisher and Daniel Snyder.
It's literally the exact opposite situation of Washington's name lol
Call them the CIAs 😂
My grandfather was the president of the Californian Angels, Robert O Reynolds, the whole purpose as a business plan was to compete with the Dodgers in the Los Angeles market. It's why the Angels were named the Angels. He and the owner Gene Autry could not pull off a Los Angeles stadium deal and settled for an Aneheim stadium deal, and the California Angels were born. The franchise has been chasing this dream born from its conception ever since.
Pretty cool - thanks for sharing
The Dodgers do not have sole territorial rights to downtown LA. So that means that theoretically the Angels could build a downtown LA ballpark.
Dodgers should have stayed in Brooklyn. Better off with that then the stupid Mets
Oakland is a dumpster fire
I enjoy listening to Samson. He has very good insights on the sports business.
I'd rather have no MLB team in my city than one with John Fisher as the owner.
He's the Dean Spanos of MLB.
Oakland gonna win big time, ppl gonna trash them now, but a couple years later once the A's struggle in Vegas Oakland gonna be on the come up again and it's gonna look bad for the Raiders and A's, Giants too
@@splashnskillz37No they’re not, look at all the players they let go… the fact is A’s is still known to be a Farm system for teams.
The Oakland F's have finally done it.
You mean the City of Oakland get's an F

Watch his podcast “Nothing Personal.” M-F 8 am Eastern. Don’t agree with all of his takes outside the sports arena, but always learning something new.
Go pee pee!
I'm a Tigers fan from Detroit, living in Sacramento now, who became cool with also rooting for the A's but now I will be seeing the A's games in Sacramento just to see whoever they are playing, haha. ADIOS A's.
I love David Samson. He gives really smart takes on these issues which is rare in sports media today.
I live 10 minutes away from the soon to be imploded Tropicana casino an i will tell you now. There is no way that team will sell out 81 games. It wlll be empty unless teams like the dodgers,Yankees, red sox, phillies, braves are in town. And most locals aren't interested in the As.
Imagine being the Yankees or Mets in town with the New York casino in the background? 😂 The A’s stadium people didn’t think of that? D’oh!
It won't be full, but there will be enough casinos/hotels and travel groups buying up season tickets to make it financially viable.
Good thing they only have to sell 81 home games. LOL
I do agree with your underlying point though. Sorry for being pedantic.
@ScottNygard lol it's ok not sure why I said 82. It's been corrected. I do stand by my point though. It will be empty when some teams come to town. The royals, the rays and a few others. I do hope they have success but the owner needs to go.
I believe your comment. Does Vegas raiders have hard time selling out filling seats with ALL raiders fans?
Cool seeing Samson guest hosting. Well done David. And this whole A's scenario is just embarrassing
Rich owners begging taxpayers for money. Disgusting. Socialize the costs, privatize the profits.
I don’t blame the team owners as much as I blame the voters and the politicians
What's amazing is that the public hasn't seen through the scam. The people of Las Vegas just handing out money to billionaires.
@@gilescaver8841 Kansas City voters got a say so and voted no. Just like they would have done in Cobb County if the negotiations weren't back room.
That ring is larger than David's height
@sk1nz28 have a height advantage over Samson. 🫠
sk1nz28it’s a reference to the size of the humongous ring. What’s the problem with that? What’s your problem?
What is that ring? Is that a sports team championship Ring? University Ring? High school?
It’s a World Series champion ring from 2003, when he was president of the Marlins.
Everything this man said about this whole relocation debacle he's been correct. He's been on the inside with the Marlins so long and he gives insight of the business side of baseball.
And he was President of the Marlins when they built Marlins Park, so he kind of wrote the book on how to convince a city to build a modern baseball park.
It's hard to move a team, but it's a lot easier to relocate a team when you also don't have to pay the relocation fee
What if the Vegas stadium isn't built, though? There's still a chance of a ballot referendum in November. Then what?
The California A’s will become the Nevada A’s
BTW: The Los Angeles Angels literally means _The The Angels Angels_
An Angel so nice they named it twice.
I call them Los The Angels Angeles
It truly is a terrible name
Bring David more please
I live in Jupiter Fl, David Samson is a legend in south Florida, I've been a Marlins fan my whole life and that guy legitimized the organization
40 year A's fan and resident of Sacramento. Can't wait for them to play here
Very interesting MLB insight from David.
Weird to see Samson here and not the LeBatard Show. Also, I really want to see TJ's reaction to Jomboy's breakdown of the Mets not trying to break up double plays as a finding of the whole Hoskins slide from their first game.
Anaheim is part of greater Los Angles. Only a local would say Anaheim is not anywhere close to Los Angles.
Half hour drive to the county lines
A person in LA proper or LA county has little reason to go to Anaheim. Disney is its major economic hub, and locals in any city going about their daily life don't really like dealing with tourists. This makes the 30 or so miles feel like a huge distance. For the people who live in Anaheim, there are plenty of reasons for them to go to LA, and therefore the trip doesn't feel that big of deal.
How many times did Samson reference "in my time with the Marlins" throughout the show?
I mean It's kinda relevant lol
New drinking game
This is worse than the Brooklyn Dodgers playing in Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, N.J. Damn......I'm old.
My first thought was that Sacramento wanted this to occur because they want a team themselves. That is how Oklahoma City ultimately ended up with an NBA team because they hosted a team for a couple years and proved they could support a team.
Sacramento doesn’t have the money to build a stadium. The only difference between Sacramento and Oakland is that we know we can’t afford to build a $1.5 billion baseball stadium. Oakland is still paying for Mount Davis.
@@Dweller415 The owner is a billionaire who could afford to build one. Sacramento is actually a legit option for the A’s to stay in nor cal. Vegas will get expansion.
Sacramento would be total a$$ to play in, 105F games most of the season..screw that.
The network that currently carries the A’s already carries the Sacramento Kings. There is no “haircut”
You're wrong. Their TV deal says they must play in the Bay Area. The $70m contract they have is null and void. They will work something out but it won't be $70m. Haircut incoming.
Anyone else notice how lit this guy and Rich are when they record 😉
They could go the soccer route in the interim period and be called the Athletics Baseball Club or Athletics B.C.
The A's should just become a barnstorming team. Hit all the fringe markets during the season. New Orleans, Buffalo, Memphis, Portland, Omaha, etc. They have a wonderful universal nickname, the Athletics.
Light the beam, sell the team!!
Wake me up when Rich returns.
The Las Vegas A's of Sacramento formerly of Oakland by way of Kansas City originally from Philadelphia.
Now with the A's and Rally Cats sharing a stadium, how exactly is the whole scheduling going to work out? You can't just have the A's play there when the Rally Cats are on the road (and vice versa) because that would be a problem for the other teams in MLB and the Pacific Coast League (other events in their home stadiums, other events in the city, etc).
What we could see are some doubleheader days: Rally Cats game in the afternoon, A's game at night.
I'm sorry to be pedantic, but they are the River Cats. Not Rally Cats.
A's owner proving to be terrible. They could've had a Bayside stadium by now. Instead playing in a minor league park for years hoping for a tiny stadium in Vegas
True David
The California Angels was the best name for that club in Anaheim. If the A’s wind up staying in Sacramento, which is the capital of California, they should definitely go with the California Athletics, which gives Oakland fans an entry into rooting for their team.
They most definitely WILL want to start marketing 'Vegas a's' while in Sacramento.
I was in Vegas right before the f1 race, and the place was a wreck! Almost missed my flight because we kept getting delayed with the road closures and aces having a championship parade. I watched them drive by worrying about my flight lol
The nomadic As would be cool. Also the West Coast As
The Las Vegas Athletics of Philadelphia, Kansas City, Oakland, and Sacramento.
So, they were like 80 million apart on money for the largest construction project in the history of California . ( Howard Terminal ) then they walk away the day when more talks scheduled , then pull out for Vegas . Thank you MLB and John Fisher , now sell the Quakes to real owners , or they are next .
Howard terminal was projected to cost 12 billion dollars. That’s not 80 million dollars apart.
@@805fillmore the updated numbers make about 97 million , so , again , a billionaire couldn't afford it .
@@Sv_vic Again Howard terminal would’ve cost 12 billion.
@@805fillmore and they ended up 97 million apart , with a billionaire. It was never about staying , John Fisher could have saved the day , like he did for the giants . He was part of the group that kept them in sf . This is why the city asked for 97 million over the extended lease , when Sacramento gave them an out , he left .
As a long time A's fan I couldn't be more happy. Everyone in MLB is gonna want to play at our new yard
i like this dude 😂
I know it was many years ago and a different sport but I didn’t see nearly as much outrage when the Sonics moved from a large market, such as Seattle to one of the smallest sports market in Oklahoma City. It was also a storied organization with champion wins, and championship appearances.
Oakland is in shambles
It will bounce back
why not just put an upper deck on the stadium in West Sacramento? I was built to be expanded and the City of West Sacramento has done a great job revitalizing that area. That stadium could be made to hold 30,000 fans.
26,000 too many
It is a beautiful stadium and location too

Samson was really good today.
I’m a lifelong A’s fan, was at the earthquake World Series game and sat right behind the royals dugout when hatteburg hit that homer in moneyball. Been thru it all. From the sterroid teams, to the cheap owners to the 20 game win streak to our announcer saying “nigger”, I’ve loved it all. Well maybe not the last one lol even tho I did laugh. I miss you Kuip!! Since I live in Vallejo which is about halfway between Oakland and Sacramento them moving permanently to Sacramento would be awesome…. Feels like a pipedream tho for this ole’ fan
Sacramento trying to steal a baseball team out of this deal.
Exactly. They know the baseball park in Las Vegas isn’t being built. King’s owner is stepping in to take John Fisher’s next failure.
@@MrRicklynch57 I still think Vegas should get an expansion team. I mean, I imagine it should be a profitable team. Wouldn't be surprised if a large portion of the fans at the game are actually fans of the visiting team that happen to be in Vegas and decide to catch a ballgame if their team is in town, or a team with some star power like the Dodgers or Yankees are in town.
@@btbarr16 a baseball team could be profitable. However, John Fisher has shown in 4 cities that he wants his park 100% publicly financed. The park should be built in a location that is accessible for locals and potential future A’s fans. There are 81 home games, much of the baseball season is played when it is 110-115 degrees in Vegas. The city is much more busy during the Spring and Fall. The Summer in Vegas is dead. The A’s are also competing with the Blue Man Group, Bruno Mars, and the Backstreet Boys. If the A’s are not competitive and don’t have a draw, they will be an afterthought. An owner who wants to win will succeed. An owner looking to collect revenue sharing and rely on people wanting to see other teams will fail. If the Golden Knights were bad no one would watch them. John Fisher already said in Sacramento, come out and watch Aaron Judge hit home runs.
@@MrRicklynch57 personally, I think the MLB plays too many games. I know lowering the number of games would mean increasing the ticket prices to compensate for fewer chances at revenue, but how often do you turn on a game and the stadium is just empty, especially in the first half of the season. The upside might be that fewer stars get hurt through the season and each game means a little more since there are fewer of them to turn around a bad season. These days, the All-star break feels like the start of the season to me.
The owner will save the team and put the A's in Vacaville. Oakland and Sacramento will share and still be mostly be same fans.
I have supported the A's since I moved to California from London in 2001. Over recent years it has been like watching a real life version of Major League with the ownership determined to run the organization into the ground to earn a move to a richer environment. All I can say is I feel so sorry for the fans. Fans that have grown up supporting the green and gold. This whole notion of moving teams is a huge weakness in American sports, well that and a lack of a relegation system which if it was in place would deter them from throwing seasons to help create this situation. But that being said the owners of the A's are a bunch of money grabbing slimeballs and I hope that they get their comeuppance sooner or later.
If I were the A's, I'd just want to he called the "A's" or "Athletics. No location, because I'd want to apeal to a broader audience while not committing to any particular location. Especially if the current location doesn't work out, or if Salt Lake swoops in and builds a stadium and entices the team to move there. Its sort of like a reverse Washington Football Team situation.
"The Joke Fisher Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings". Nice ring to it. Worked for Billy Dee Williams.
They’ll never leave Sacramento!
If they make Sacramento their home I'm an instant fan for life. Ill always have my braves, but I've been to a few A's games and i have a small place in my heart for them
The actual stadium is in West Sacramento and that is a different county.
I feel bad for A’s fans despite being in our division. John fisher is the mlb equivalent to either James Dolan, Dean spanos, Dan Snyder (before he sold the team) Marge Schott and many other bad owners in various teams
They will have the same TV deal they have now which is NBC SPORTS CALIFORNIA which houses the A's and the Kings. NBC SPORTS BAY AREA houses the Giants, Warriors and 49ers.
Sacramento (unlike Vegas which I hear is Dodger country) is hardly a new market for the A's. The A's share all of Northern California with the Giants and all their games have always been available on TV and radio in greater Sacramento which includes the Sierra Nevada foothills and other outliers. Sac is about a 1 and half hour drive from Oakland. Vegas a whole long day drive.
So where would the Rivercats play. People of Sacramento love the Rivercats and have supported them with record attendance for 24 years.
I heard they will both play at the Rivercats stadium. Logistical nightmare for sure.
John fisher is a trust fund baby
Somebody jealous 👆
@@philmccracken179No. Just saying he's accomplished nothing on his own.
I can’t believe Samson is hosting this show today
The A’s already have a minor leave in Vegas…why don’t they play there?
Dave needs to teach the Las Vegas construction industry how to do it!!! ha ha ha ha
It may have shocked the West coast. But I'm quite sure they're not concerned about it in Dubai or anywhere else. Lol
IF they ever make it to LV I do think they should stay the As but as the Aces, not athletics. Yes I know another team has that name in Vegas. It's not illegal for there to be two.
Samson is good.
Ask a NJ fan about the NFL Giants.
Given Oakland is renaming their airport to San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport, just change the team to San Francisco Bay Oakland Sacramento As
Golden State A’s
I can't believe MLB and the owners are putting up with Fisher and I don't blame Nashville and/or Salt Lake not wanting to touch the A's so long as he is attached to the franchise.
Sacramento region pop. = 2.8 million; San Diego region pop. = 3.2 million
Sacramento is much stronger market if Athletics can capture NorCal region from Oakland to Ukiah. I would definitely be considering a rebrand as West Coast Athletics or California Athletics or NorCal Athletics. Also a Sacramento Athletics name would be major step back in terms of branding towards back to Kansas City A's era!!! Listen up Kings basketball. 👈👆🚗🔥
This should be the trigger to pull the antitrust exemption, and Oakland should sue MLB. That's how KC & Seattle got their teams back
My feeling is that by 2028, they end up in Vegas with their ballpark. That being said, David Samson is not a bs artist and so he knows things that we don't. If I were the A's, I would have cut all ties with the state of California and temporarily move to salt lake City
Just call them the California Baseball Team
The River City,Sacramento or the West Sacramento A's
4:37 this, people are counting on a lot of things going right that probably won't. John Fisher is super vulnerable right now. He essentially just gave notice to quit his job but his next job doesn't start for another 4 years and he has to work a part-time job in the interim. All it takes is a delay in construction, budget revision, or a new referendum for his new ballpark to put him at the mercy of Sacramento, who is vying for their own place in MLB, or others (including Oakland)
**If you oppose John Fisher (and if you don't, shame on you), this is the perfect time to act. You can start by supporting the Nevada Teachers Union PAC who is suing the state of NV for allocating state funds for Fisher's new stadium plans.
Amazing how much fun the guys have without Rich
The Golden State As? The worst ownership in baseball. Surprised MLB allows this, as there is a rule that there are no minor league teams in major league cities.
It can get really hot in Sacramento Summers. I don't think they thought this out.
There's no humidity, it's not that bad
Why do they give this conman air time.
Didn’t Samson run the Marlins into the ground?
The only way this will be a success in Vegas is if they build a baseball version of the sphere. They won’t, because John Fisher runs the team and wants a free stadium, and this will be a complete and utter failure.
How about *The Fuckin A's* !
Lifelong A's fan. Weird to think they're just roaming around the next several years...
Oakland city council & management for the A's are an absolute joke. They're both a disgrace
Though despite it all, feel bad for Vegas to have Fisher as owner GL to them
Don't blame the city. If a billionaire can't or won't pay for his own stadium, he can shove right off.
@@stevencramsie9172 Both parties hands are dirty in this MLB debacle that's lasted decades. Interestingly, didnt the Raiders leave Oakland twice? Hmmmm
I am generally against any city/county paying for a profession sports stadium. They make so much money they can pay for it themselves. I am saying this as a sports fan.
@@dustinwells4127 And left Oakland's taxpayers holding the bag to the tune of $189,000,000 for Mt. Davis. I'm sure the taxpayers in Oakland said, "never again". John Fisher is a multi-billionaire, he can pay for his own stadium.

A topic that David Samson knows too much about. Destroying a baseball team and being a conniving snake to leverage your own gain over the greater good of the organization.

Amen. You said it perfectly.
Perhaps the Rivercats can give the A's and Kotsay some tips! Even playing in a Triple-A park is insulting
to the Rivercats. Rivercats' play are much superior than the junior high school play of the A's.
