- From the outside, it might seem like Sir David Jason’s journey to becoming a national treasure has been seamless, but it’s been just as chaotic as a drive in Del Boy’s three-wheeler. From starting out as an apprentice electrician to being haunted by the ghost of Del Boy, reconnecting with his long-lost daughter, and revealing his biggest showbiz regret - Sir David Jason lifts the lid on his latest memoir 'This Time Next Year: A Life of Positive Thinking'.

The man is an absolute legend. God bless him for bringing so much joy to so many people 🙏 ❤️
So good to have him in our lives but it's sad to see him get old because just wish people like him lived forever, what a bloke definitely a legend
So good to see him again. Such a special man. I love the fact he's taken time away from fame to live his life too. Some people don't know when to stop. ❤❤
If anyone has not seen "A Touch of Frost" ... Then, watch it... The whole thing! You completely forget he was delboy, straight away; and it really shows how good he is... Great series.
That's what I was thinking.
Absolutely!
It’s brilliant. I adore Sir David.
I watch it regularly. It's actually one of my favourite things that he's done 😊
100% agree there 😃 absolutely fantastic show 😃 a touch of frost all the way! 😃
Literally the only celebrity that makes me sad seeing him older. I’m 26 I love only fools my dad loves only fools, my grandad loved only fools. My nephew 12 years old loves it. Point is it’s timeless anyone with British humour loves it. The acting at times was also excellent too.
I know he's great) I'm 54 and I remember watching the very 1st episode of only fools and horses: It seems like yesterday.
@@jah5076 same. I’m 26 and obsessed. Every couple of years I come back to it. Absolutely timeless.
Top man. I've loved everything he's done.
When I was much younger, I did some extra work on Only Fools & Horses. I can absolutely confirm what a lovely man he is. Both Lyndhurst and Sir Jason were true gents, and never looked down on anyone. On one morning, I was making myself some tea, when I heard, “Morning!” I turn around to a warm smile from Sir Jason. He is such a class act on every level.
Wow, that’s excellent. Can you remember the episodes you were in?
Ex-Yugoslavian here! It is fair to say all of us salute you Sir David Jason 🖖
Mucke!
Da...mislim da su Mućke na Balkanu najgledanije ikada. Generacije su odrastale uz ovog divnog čovjeka. Meni lično najuticajnija ličnost, i gromada ljudska.
I will always remember being in Egypt on holiday and when a street seller realised that I came from England , quoted the famous Del Boy phrase “ Lovely Jubblerly ! “. .lol So we are obviously characterised abroad by this famous character
This happened to me in Tunisia as well.
i Grew up Watching David in Danger Mouse, Count Duckula and Watched him in Open all Hours Too and Only Fools and Horses, So Thank you David for the Memories
@@jmg2023ie don’t forget ‘Darling buds of May’ outstanding acting.
Me too loved count duckula
And the darling buds of May, outstanding acting
@@Annomous-58as good as “darling buds of may” was he was essentially still playing Del-Boy a lovable rogue who was a wheeler-dealer,the only thing that was different was his appearance, but the character was the same.
@@garethwilby4033 yes the character was similar, the time on DBOM was set post war time.
What a great man, only fools got me through a bad time,I still watch them,I must off seen them a tleast 200 times,so good
I was born in 84. So grew up in the 90s watching it. Such a lovely man and he did lots of other great stuff. He is a legend.
What a generous man in his talking about Ronnie barker he should write a book about his best friend
Thankyou for all the laughs David ❤❤❤
Still as sharp as a pin 👍❤️
Sir David Jason is a true star and a wonderful gentleman. It always fills my heart with warmth when I see him appear on TV. We are blessed by his very being.
A national treasure ❤ Long live Sir David .
Wait til the truth comes out when he's gone. And remember this comment.
@@undercoverbrother67 yes indeed.
@@undercoverbrother67 Please elaborate...or are you just garnering attention?
I'm 33 I've watched this man since I can remember, Only fools is the greatest comedy of all time and David is one of the greatest actors of a generation also, I love the man !!
@@ekspatriat look up David jason allegations.
I love Touch of Frost and Only Fools. My child also loves it. A new generation is discovering the magic.
My children love them all to my son and I watch ofah and have great laughs says the best
@@BusWill2006 wouldn't let my kids watch him.
A true Legend, he's so so amazing, love Sir David Jason, been an only fools and horses fan, never met him, would love to. So much talent over the years.
100% with you with you comment
You could tell just how much of an influence Ronnie Barker had on Sir David's work, you can see it in his speech patterns, hand gestures and body language. Two geniuses.
Love to meet him. What a British icon. Sir Del Boy.
Oh my word I love this man so much! He's such a sweatheart and insanely talented. He's one of the greats of British acting. Love you David!
He was amazing as Granville in open all hours, excellent actor wish him the best in life!
David and Ronnie - magnificent!!!!!
Love sir David. Jason. From animation to so many roles frost darling buds only fool and horses and porridge to name but a few loved him and Ronnie. Together as well just fabulous 😊
Oh my so good to see ❤ from Australia
What a legend ❤
Wonderful. Humility and kindness. A true great.
Thank you for the memories Sir David Jason
My late mother in law disliked only fools and horses. When asked why she gave a great rundown on the dodgy antics of the characters especially what Dell boy got up to. She was a lovely woman and I loved how she was so immersed in the 'reality' of the characters and storylines. She gave testament to just how good it was.
Bless you sir David well deserved ❤
Danger mouse 🐁🙂. Growing up in the 80s it was danger mouse to only fools and horses. Then watching old eps of porridge in my twenties. True legend!
Also the BFG
Also Mr. Toad.
Same iconic voice, David Jason you're the best!! And thanks for sharing your talents and amazing fellow actors 🎉😂Night night 😅😅😅😅
A National Treasure ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤always loved this man ❤❤
I adore David Jason
He's a fantastic actor ❤
Proud to say I was born on his birthday! Legendary talent we won't see again for a very long time.
Looks like both Ben and Cat are genuinely interested in what Sir David has to say and that they look like they respect him too !
❤❤❤❤ love him since childhood ❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍
I could listen to David for hours
Also, it's so lovely to hear about what a decent bloke Ronnie Barker was. The Two Ronnies was one of my favourite shows when I was little. It's reassuring when those on screen that you have so much affection for are decent peeps off screen too.
Aw, his super sweet and seems so lovely ❤
How wrong you are.
@@mazybee9149 he has a dodgy background.
@@melgrant7404what do you mean?
I thought the same until I discovered the truth anout him over a decade ago.
@@jennynott3841 read up David jason allegations.
This man is an absolute legend!
Not many legends left but David is surely one of them.👍👍
I remember him in Lucky Feller in the 1970s.😀
Nice to see Del boy on good form - what a guy. Btw not seen good morning for years - ben and cat are perfect hosts.
A true Legend 👏👏👏Only Fools and Horses, Frost, open all Hours the list goes on 👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️
Granville…. Fetch your cloth lol
Lovely Jubbly!
He is so humble x
True legend.David & Nicholas were just magic on screen together,we couldn’t have grown up without you. Open all hours.porridge .Frost .... October 2024🌻☀️🙋♀️
I love you david jason, i remember watching only fools and horses with my grandad when i was a kid and i remember him smiling
Personally I always remember Sir David Jason as Pop Sidney Larkin & D.I Edward "Jack" Frost.
Yes, Del Boy is an iconic character but I'll always remember Larkin & Frost before Trotter.
Loved Darling buds of may! Catherine Zeta Jones was so stunning it was unreal! 😍
I find it so funny and a bit bonkers at the same time, because when David was younger he played an old man when he was in Porridge, and he eventually aged to look like the actual character he played years ago. The make up artist must have had a crystal ball 😂
I always think about those early years , he very much looked up to Ronnie Barker
@@dazzp2 I agree, that was very obvious when they worked together. There’s a video on TH-cam but I don’t know what it’s called but it shows all the outtakes, which really aren’t outtakes because of the cast, just the production team making sure the cameras are in the right place and asking the cast to move a little over to one side, react in a certain way, all the niggly stuff. Ronnie Barker was an absolute gentleman to the crew, responded to them all as ‘sir’ and came up with little ad libs while waiting around on stage, which were hilarious… the man had true comedic talent. We lost an icon when he passed away
What a legend he is always will be big up David Jason
From Danger Mouse and Count Duckula to Open All Hours and Only Fools and Horses, David Jason was a massive part of my childhood in the 80's. So good to see him looking and keeping so well in his later years, long live the King of comedy.
Darling buds was my fave David Jason TV production.
Yes! He just has a nack for creating, warm, charming characters that you can't help but love.
Perfick!
For me Sir David is the BFG, Danger mouse and Toad. I love his voice work more than anything. Open all hours though is my favourite acting role.
I love OFAH, and there`s abit of Del-Boy in me, and rightly so too after 43 years of watching them.
No mention of Touch of Frost which brilliantly showed David’s ‘straight’ acting side!
They could have mentioned it but he's done so much, it would be tough to even cover just the big stuff.
It's not as well known as Frost but I first saw his straight acting in Porterhouse Blue. The mini-series itself had a lot of dark humour but he played it pretty straight.
@@Elwaves2925 Porterhouse Blue was brilliant!
I love him x
Love david soo much hes consistantly made me laugh for 40 years every episode of only fools is just gold standard comedy.
I'm not sure people understand just how popular Only Fools And Horses was in Ex-Yugoslavian countries. I grew up watching it as a kid in 90s Croatia and I still watch reruns to this day.
The best sitcom of all time!
Legend off a man ❤ absolute gentleman!!!!
I adored Ronnie Barker, he was exceptional ... but David Jason was brilliant in Porter House Blue/s? yes fantastic !!!
Porterhouse Blue and yes, he was fantastic in it. It was the first time I saw him in a straight role, even though the series itself was dark humour.
Bless him ❤
My favourite person growing up thankyou sir 👏
Such a lovely man. In touch of frost he really made the character come to live.
I saw the only fools and horses musical in London, in feb 2020,it was excellent, i had such a good time
What a brilliant man he is. Love him!
Legend
Thats PMA, positive Mental Attitude, and image!!
A pure legend , dell boy was one of the funniest people on tv ever
A touch of frost is enough for me. I just love it. Thats my cup of tea.
Mental he was 40 in only fools my age!. 80s. Before i was born. (84) and he is 84!!!🤯 time... is crazy... what an icon and a legend
I sooo loved him in Darling Buds of May… amazing actor
While most people will know him as "Del Boy", to me, he will always be Count Duckula and Danger Mouse! David Jason was my childhood ❤
Absolute legend ❤
I love him. He's fantastic. I hope he will live forever.❤
As a youngster in New Zealand many years ago, I really enjoyed the Darling Buds of May.
What a legend ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sir David you are a legend very talented . In all you do the best love you 💙
The expression “ a national treasure “ is often over used but Sir David Jason is mostly certainly a national treasure and I predict that this country will mourn him when he’s gone
But not in the way you will think.
@@clare6249 you are clearly naive to his background.
So say it. Don’t be part of the problem and say it now when he’s alive. You’re just a coward orherwise
Cooey! Duckyboos want some Chocy Bickies? I hope I spelled that right. I'm from the US and I grew up watching Count Duckula on Nickelodeon. Such a part of my childhood, love him. Not to mention the BFG, had that over here too.
Danger Mouse haha .. thankyou for all the laughs , over so many years David :)
Toad in wind in the willows
Genius
I love only fools and horses...but he will always be Pop Larkin to me, Darling Buds of May is one of the best feel-good shows to watch ❤️
WOW Fantastic ❤
God help us when he goes , brilliant actor
Del Boy will live on forever!
Now he is getting on in years would love to see him play King Lear.
He was my childhood and even growing up he was a massive part of british society.
If they ever do a new Porridge episode, David could revive his Blanco character. The makeup dept wouldn't even be needed.
Bless him. A national treasure
Legend is an understatement
The iconic SIR David Jason. Del Boy, Granville, also the voice of Danger Mouse and Count Duckula to Detective Jack Frost. A British legend along with Sir David Attenborough.
I switch off halfway through his interviews but he still is a great man always will be never boring or dull I have a disability can't take too much info in Iove Only Fools that will always be on tv in many generations to come at least I hope so
Shame they didn’t ask him about his friends at the ‘gliding’ club.
The best British comedy ever.
For me he will always be Pop Larkin. Perfect!
He's still so sharp!
David Jason is a national treasure
@@adamsimmons631 we all know what national treasure means.
@@melgrant7404What does it mean? Come on, say the quiet part out loud.
loved all his proggames, such a talented actor, shame fools and horses did end, I guess all series come to a end,
My first impression of David Jason is Granville (Open All Hours), then Pop Larkin (Darling Buds of May) then Edgar Briggs, Del Boy from Only Fools and Horses, I also remember A Bit of a Do, and I think A Touch of Frost?
