Never in a million years did I think that I’d grow up watching Evan, and then end up enjoying his father’s TH-cam channel later down the line. Love how the John Romita sr. Art style translates into these sculpts. Great content! 👍
Should one have to perform additional feats on an expensive statue to ensure its preservation? Maybe ask the guys who are in charge of the upkeep of the Statue of Liberty. 😁 Joking aside, every time we spend a lot of money on something (house, car, expensive collectibles) there is a hope that we won’t have to pour additional time and money into that object. But after a while, we realize it’s just part of the territory.
@@LoochMindReaderYes, there were definitely a few oversights on this one. At the end of the day, you just have to ask yourself if putting in some additional work is worth it. I’m sure some people would say no and forego ownership. For me, I’d gladly do it again.
Amazing Statue and I’m glad you were able to put it together after I came apart at the end of the first part. Love the videos and big fan of the channel!
True, it should be on them. But that's sort of the game we play. Sending huge statues back and forth is just not feasible. Sometimes it's better just to fix things yourself, if you are able.
The color green was used for the majority of Spider Man villains & in early Marvel Comics in general is because green was one of the few colors that showed up consistently on the paper as bright & eye catching
looks great once you did the bush mechanic job on it. But this piece is why custom dios scare me, they always seem to have significant issues. Well done
It's a little hit or miss with QC from both custom and licensed companies. I think it really depends on how the folks at the factory feel. But having big dioramas definitely leave room for a lot of errors. Probably why we don't see many 1/4 scale dios from licensed companies.
Very cool. Good fixes. Something of this size really should have some hidden screws to anchor together better, as you touched on. Kind of think it'd be neat if Mysterio's fishbowl had a light in it. .
Only in my imagination can such a piece exist. All the trouble was definitely worth it. I could stare at that statue all day. It's great to get up on a Sunday and come across this marvelous video. I can't thank you enough. Keep making those fantastic videos. Have a blessed day.
The attention to detail of the six is indeed spectacular but for us sticklers, if you're going to display the Ditko book it "Amazes" me that the figurine of Spidy has the Romita Sr. (and so many other artists afterward) lack of wrapping the costume webbing around his arms (consistently, and thus) incorrectly. Romita Sr. drew spidy with the webing facing the reader no matter what the pose. Ditko's webbing came off the back and wrapped over his shoulder and behind his elbows. Check out the Annual. One would think that a sculper charged with authenticity on such a beautiful and ambitious project would notice such detail. Also, if the Kraven character had been in the Mysterio position his face would be visible and if Mysterio had been at the base (as he was never known for flying to begin with) the immensly heavy smoke could have been held to a minimum and been part of the base sculp. Since Mysterio never had an exposed face to begin with there would be nothing lost in his position. Lowering Spidy and creating a larger building footprint with variable tiers could have supported Kraven (who was known for dropping from above). Electro who was also not known for flying could have stood flatfooted and the bowl effect of villians coming at Spidy from all angles could have added to his danger and precipitated a lower center of gravity for the whole work of art. Other than that, it is a work of art.
Thanks for checking it out! Height isn't as much as a concern as depth is. I build most of my display shelves/podiums and can make them lower if needed. However, I only have so much walking space in front of a statue.
Kind of scary, but it’s an insanely ambitious statue so makes sense. Your rod was a very smart idea and seems to be working out well. Kraven, Vulture, and Sandman look the best.
Thats what I like about the channel. Honesty. Thanks for the review this is an amazing piece. Only downside imo besides the engineering part a bit is dr octopus, the lines at the arms, seemlines? How are they called. It looks like a figure from Hasbro now. Same for the big gap at the vulture arms. Because Kraven, Electro and mysterio are beautiful. I also love that spider-man pose. Still besides these minor points 9/10 imo
Yeah, the seams on Doc Ock should have been patched prior to painting. Also, the fit on Vulture should have been better. Both are fixable but not really something a collector should have to do. Luckily, this piece is so massive that the little imperfections aren’t front and center.
If you consider the price of getting each of these characters individually, the price wasn’t that bad. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the duplicate characters I have.
Great video. What an ambitious diorama. What does the commissioner say about the issues you had with this piece? At the end of the day it’s a great piece, probably the best Spider-Man I’ve seen.
If this was something with moving parts, I would be very scared. But because it just sits in one place and nobody touches it, I’m comfortable with its current state of stability.
@@DTsGEEKSHOW I think once you find some added supports for those potential leans you'll be set. I have 3 little ones. It would be an accidental bump waiting to happen. I hope XM does a sinister 6 like they have done with the DC line.
@@PetervanDijk-bm1dl yeah, I know. But, I like the more compact design. For a dio containing this many characters I'd prefer 1/6. Just my personal preference for a number of reasons.
Thanks for making a part two and I have this statue still in the boxes and have been waiting for your video review and ideas on helping to stabilize the statue. I'll reach out to Jason to see about getting the pics he sent you about placement of the rebar around the statue.
Just watch watched both videos, didnt know this custom was out there. Awesome fix. But your right to continue to find a way to definitely have more support. Hard to see from pictures, i would like to come up with a way to support the smoke from from where you pinned the structure to the base somehow (like some kind of stilt looking beam to blend in to the piece). Also a pin where you have the "gap"....just some thoughts.....there is someone here on the east coast thinking of selling, i really don't have the room, but thinking about it, its all about the price i'm willing to afford.... but hey congrats and thanks for the doing this!
It really is a nice piece, if you can work around the engineering. There are a lot of ways to add support to the back of this piece without it being very noticeable (if displaying it back against a wall). I could have inserted similar pins to other connections, but felt like doing this main key was sufficient. If you can find the space and the right price, I say go for it.
Man I'm a BIG FAN! this just makes me speechless. You generalle made me fall in love for these big statues, with lots of details, paint, and my favorite the changeable parts to make it as different as possible. And spidey vs Sinister Six couldn't be better. Every single design is classic.... well maybe except Kraven pants since he has those funny shoes and leopard pants. But it's not bad at all. Cause the whole piece is just phenomenal. I would love to see something like this but maybe with spidey fighting green goblin or venom, but battledamaged, lots of wounds and bruises. I would like to buy something like this but..... well as you said I wouldn't have found any place. It's really delicate, and if it would have fallen down I would be heartbroken. And it is very expensive. That's why I stick with Marvel Legends from hasbro, good articulation which is letting us pose any character how we want and use our imagination. Different accessories, good sculpture which can be visible for 6 inch figures, not that expensive and lots of place for these. But If I could I would definetly buy some of these LARGE statues.
Thanks for all the support! These statues are nice and definitely can be expensive. Key to collecting is to collect what you love and works within your budget. Responsible collecting is key. Figures are a great way to collect and break the bank. If you want to get your feet wet with statues, you might want to try out the smaller scale offerings. They would display well with an action figure collection.
