Im a firm believer in the utility of the racks of cheap books in front of book stores. One day I paused to inspect a favorite store's outside racks and noticed a book about Juneteenth. That name peaked my interest. I'm a preschool teacher and am constantly looking for good stories the teach. I was amazed and proud when Joe Biden made it a federal holiday.

0:19 - 0:37 I like what he said here. 'hungry for holidays, hungry for tradition'. African Americans *in Texas* kept Juneteenth alive, until it was recently made a federal holiday.
It's intriguing to me, the way that African Americans are bursting with culture. So much so, that each region of America has its accolades.
    New York- Hip Hop
    Texas- Juneteenth
Atlanta- The Regina George of African Americans
    LA- The famous cousins
And simultaneously, it is *firmly* stated, that African Americans are culture-bare. 🤔

If people are on social media speaking on Juneteenth and you come in trying to deliver a lesson on small details that had no effect on the outcome, then people might just might take a bit of issue with that. Contrary to what you think, we dont need for you all to come in to our spaces trying to school us on US. We can celebrate US without your input.

I think this would be a wonderful opportunity to pause for a moment and give thanks for the great contributions of the Black community to our society. Their peaceful and generous nature make them ideal neighbors, lending testimony to their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture. Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as a people. Real estate values are fueled by the mix of African Americans into an area due to their caring and respectful nature of these communities, an example of all they have achieved through their enthusiasm for self-improvement by hard work and a self-reliant can-do nature. Without their industrious and creative drive, we would most undoubtedly be poorer as a nation.

So in the early days, Blacks celebrated Juneteenth in Galveston with get-togethers, hush harbor sing-alongs, and even played some outdoor games they enjoyed. Maybe even the first parades too.
But in 2021--the inaugural Juneteenth, it was a bit like the 4th of July. Opal Lee, a lady whose family were related to slaves, made it a federal holiday in that year. So with that, in 2021 on June 19th, like July 4th - it had parades, sporting events, picnics, concerts, music, and special church services. In a few cases, they even shot off personal fireworks--especially on the inaugural 2021 Juneteenth. Crazy as that!

Freedom should absolutely be celebrated. However, let's stop saying the last enslaved Black people were freed in Texas on June 19, 1865. Slavery was still legal and practiced in Kentucky and Delaware until the 13th Amendment was adopted on December, 18, 1865. Plus, the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole tribes did not abolish enslaving Blacks until June 14, 1866.

Juneteenth is the real independence day for African Americans. It's still U.S. history. History is not just the good but the good the bad and the ugly....even if someone is not African American they can still learn about Juneteenth and get involved.... but some people are quick to say thats their day im not black I don't want to learn about it. I don't see why not....but some people are closed minded and only learn about culture that involves them. I love learning about different cultures and traveling. Ita educational and interesting. I think people miss the point and debate about the wrong things about how slavery evolved etc. Historically everyone only knows about what they read in the books and what they read are lies most of the time. Slavery was just not in the U.S. only back then but people are blind to that part. Why do people think there were slaves in Peru and many other countries too.

Upon being able to register to vote in the 40's and 50's, most Black people joined the Republican Party. Many may argue that the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was a Republican. The Republican Party of TODAY is full of misogynist, racist bigots who continue to create laws to make it harder for black and brown people to vote. The only Black people who claim to be Republicans are those selling their soul to the devil in order to gain political power and wealth by speaking out against the Democratic Party (who are also full of sh*t) i.e. Herschel Walker and Candace Owens. So miss me with your bs. Your underlying negative comments about Juneteenth speaks louder than your so distorted history lesson.

On Juneteenth we should all Thank The West for eliminating Slavery.
Though it was a great milestone in human history, there is still work to do.
There is Still Slavery n Asia and Africa.
We should encourage others to follow the lead of the west and eliminate slavery.
We should also eliminate serfdom. Especially with the push of the Woke Oligarchy to force everyone into serfdom.
