Thank you Kathleen Battle and Jessye Norman for this wonderful beautiful spiritual music and your great talents as Opera singers. When Jessye Birthday rolls around, can you guys make it Jessye Norman's month. And just play her performances. Two a night. Once a week. Her fans would be very HAPPY
Ok I have to say the Great Performances I watched on this Friday night was a big disappointment. When you guys said behind the scenes footage, I thought you were talking about Jessye and Kathleen rehearsal for the concert. Them talking about their view on the spirituals. You guys showed Kathleen at home with her family and in her hometown but not really anything on Jessye. It was a chance to make this great and memorable but you guys dropped the ball.
Agreed. Also, Kathleen Battle should have been interviewed, as she she is still alive to share her experience and perspective. But who knows, maybe she didn't want anything to do with this project. Also, they labeled the choir Met Opera Chorus, I'm not sure that's correct.
