Read somewhere it was love, respect, and probably a little jealousy. Respect because Dean was one of the few who didn't kiss Frank's butt, in fact telling Sinatra to "f-off" on more than one occasion, and jealousy because Dino had the wife and loving family, a joy that seemed to elude Sinatra during his lifetime.

As much success and undeniable talent as Frank Sinatra had, privately he envied the other two gents in this video greatly for the one thing that he lacked, impeccable comedic timing. Comedic timing was something Bing and Dean honed to a knife's edge by working as straight men for two of the wackiest comedians in history, Bob Hope in Bing's case and Jerry Lewis for Dino.

    • @lindashelley3635
      @lindashelley3635 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

Scott Carroll There’s definitely something in what you say, but even Jerry in later years admitted that Dean always had an inbuilt comic timing and wonderful sense of humour right from when they first met. But working with Jerry for all those years must have helped Dean to perfect those skills, at least in terms of having to ‘think on his feet’ to in order to cope with Jerry’s crazy antics onstage!

    Lyrics!!
    [BING CROSBY:]
The Biltmore garage wants a grand
But a grand we ain't got on hand
    [DEAN MARTIN:]
And they now got a lock on the door
Of the gym at P.S. 84
    [FRANK SINATRA:]
There's the stock room behind the McCloskey's bar
But Mrs. McCloskey ain't a good scout
    [DEAN MARTIN:]
    She dropped her cookies!
    [FRANK SINATRA]
And things being how they are
The back of the police station is out
    [TOGETHER:]
So the Biltmore garage is the spot
But the one thousand bucks we ain't got
    [DEAN MARTIN:]
Why, it's good old reliable Nathan!
    Nathan, Nathan, Nathan Detroit!
    [FRANK SINATRA:]
If you're looking for action, he'll furnish the spot.
    [BING CROSBY:]
Even when the heat is on, it's never too hot.
    [TOGETHER:]
Not for good old reliable Nathan!
For it's always just a short walk
To the oldest established, permanent floating
    Crap game in New York!
    There are well-heeled shooters everywhere.
    [FRANK SINATRA:]
    Everywhere!
    [BING CROSBY:]
    There are well-heeled shooters everywhere.
    [TOGETHER:]
And an awful lot of lettuce
For the fella who can get us there!
    [BING CROSBY:]
    Tell 'em about it!
    [DEAN MARTIN:]
Why, it's good old reliable Nathan!
    Nathan, Nathan, Nathan Detroit!
    [FRANK SINATRA:]
If the size of your bundle you want to increase
    [BING CROSBY:]
He'll arrange that you go broke in quiet and peace
    [TOGETHER:]
In a hideout provided by Nathan
Where there are no neighbors to squawk.
It's the oldest established permanent floating
    Crap game in New York!
Yes, it's the oldest established, permanent floating
