Just bought a GSG-16 today and I’m impressed with the build. I actually wanted a 9MM PCC but this 22 caliber will be much better at the range and the ammo is plentiful and cheap!
I’m on the fence right now with the same. I really want a CZ pcc but for less than the price of that new I can buy this, 500 rounds, a red dot, two extra mags, and a vertical foregrip all from the same site at once for $520.55. I think I wanna do that, I have plenty other toys different calibers but I want something cheap to shoot and fun, quieter than a 5.56 too for sure.
Got one for my Grandson. He paid for most of it ( under age). As it was his gun I made the mistake of just letting him take control and clean it him self. Every time we used it it seemed to jam too often. Last time he used it he was having light strikes and then a round went off in the chamber. A piece of shrapnel hitting him in the leg. Decided he was done with it. You Tube research revealed there is a problem with magazines. Got him a 10/22 and I took over the GSG. Cleaned it and oiled the Bolt generously. Filed out the opening on the Mag and took the sliders off and sanded them for smoother operation. Has been working fine for me. He put 10 rounds in a 1 inch group at 25 yards at the range with his 10/22. Yes the GSG is fun!
From what I’ve heard, they’re pretty hard to clean. I’ve watched reviews and it said to be careful to remember the orientation of the springs because if you put them in backwards, it will malfunction. Maybe that could’ve been the problem, but like I’ve said I don’t own one of them.
The plastic magazines open at the seem, they tend to double feed jam. have to run good high velocity ammo like cci tactical. Buy something better. TM-22 all metal 22 lr is a excellent choice for around 199.00 or less. great gun for the money.
Enjoy it! I will say we started having feeding issues when loading the mags to full capacity. This seemed to not happen with 10 or less. So it is mag related. Just be sure to store them unloaded to reduce spring fatigue.
I just bought this gun for hunting coyotes at night around the ranch. I'm going to put a small scope on it and a Commander NV100 clip on night vision scope attachment. How do you think it'll perform?
www.amazon.com/shop/gearsofguns/list/1RLDZO5NBAE89 We have a few bipods we like in our shop. The one that is on that gun is a bipod that is not made anymore but the Caldwell is the closest to the price and brand seen in the video.
It is not cheap plastic, feels good. I got cheap plastic guns, this is not it. Although I am sure there are better materials, maybe that's what he meant.
The damn gun jams. Clean it, oil it and it still jams. Everybody I know who owns one, makes one comment…it jams.I bought the GSG -15 and it also jams.or won’t go into battery. When the rare times you can get it to work, it does shoot very well.
The “suppressor” on this Gun is just a faux suppressor so that you have a full 16” barrel without it looking “funny”. So no. This is just a standard rifle
My personal unpaid opinion of it? I think it is just a great fun gun to own. The only problem it really has for every single owner of them is that it seems there is never enough ammo to be shot in a day. What color did you get it in?
I own a GSG-16. It is what it is. It works and is kind of cool looking. A Ruger 10/22 or Marlin model 60 its not. Good toy like pinker kind of a novelty mp 5 clone. would I buy one again. NO. Would I tell anyone to buy one. NO. I would say. save a little more money....and get yourself a CZ 22 LR BOLT ACTION RIFLE. 455, 457, 452, 512 , 513, You will be glad you took my advice when you shoot the CZ
@@MARKWALTON-u6x after a long time of using this I would slightly agree. Have had some issues with it but that seems to be worn mags or ammo specific. The CZ is definitely a step above this.
I am not well verse on CA compliance laws. I know that 22s are treated differently since they’re rimfire. Like in the case of a 10/22 being legal to own there. Not sure if mag capacity has the same disregard with it being rimfire.
Yes. You can take off the top rail and change the charging handle to the other side. Very simple but you will need a T8 star screw driver to do so. Most normal tool sets only go down to a T10 size so you may need to make a trip to home depot first.
Gun is crap it jambs so much, Ive done different methods to see if i can fix the issue no luck. A friend of mine bought the same gun when it was on sale just like mine 200 rounds later just jambs like crazy. i am going to trade it in am dissapointed in it as it was my first firearm and it looks really cool also bought a 100 round drum mag for the gun to not work properly.
@@villain1m296 mag and or ammo is typically to blame. Have had good luck with Aguila with this rifle. Other 22 ammo it jams a good amount after some wear and tear. Clean it well and try different mags with different ammo. Welcome to the world of 22LR. The most finicky round on the market

I saw a back in stock notification and bought one instantly. First time I ever saw it
This will be my first gun I can't wait
Every guy at my gun store owns one and encouraged me to get one.Showed me pictures of mods they made.I love mine bought the wife one for Christmas.
For the price they’re cool toys
The clip clicks in the stock also. Pretty cool
Thanks for the review. Just got one but have not been the the range yet.
We've had one of these with a 110 rd drum on our wall at work for a few days. After this video, I think I'll be taking it home. 😅
I use cci high velocity and this thing runs awesome! I have the sand black and my wife has one as a first firearm..
I’ve been enjoying my gsg-16 for about a year now. It’s a fun little shooter. My daughter loves shooting it too
Ive watched a lot of videos and you were the first to mention that spring. Thank you!
I love this gun. I got mine about a month ago. Put a Bushnell 25 on it and had some fun..
Awesome! Thanks for the comment!
The optic is $203.00 shipped! Just bought one.
optic?
What optic?
Have to get one. Great Review.
You should!
Thanks for idea on what optic to get
I just bought this gun for myself and my daughter to use for squirle hunting.
Awesome!
Those do jam so do research on that, speaking from experience. Its a very fun gun but it WILL jam. Keep it very clean!
It's the ammo what did you use

Oh, maybe thats why they ship with the 22rd mags, to cut down on jams?
Would it function properly without stock ?
Was going to get one until I realized you can’t unscrew the barrel to put a can on it :(
Is this rifle able to be modded? Such as swapping out the grip, Stock, bolt?
Save the 110 round magazine for the Zombie Apocalypse! Load that mag on a rainy day.
i just got one for $350 new with two 22 rd mags!

@@GearsofGuns I actually ended up buying one 🙂

Do I need to have any license or send documents because of the suppressor for this gun

Is this gun good for home protection
Any gun is better than no gun for home protection
how does it run with cci stingers
Can I get this gun at 19 in Washington state
are the lower and upper proprietary? Can they be used for anything else?

Not at all

it is a cheap no name brand
