Hypnotic percussion, strong funky bass, inventive exhilarating guitar, and Florence Shaw's charm and wit over the top. They are mesmerising. Saw them in Bristol in February and will see them again next year. These, Fontaines and Idles got me through lockdown and beyond.

I was and still am a big fan of Saint Etienne. Her vocal performance has an element of Sarah Cracknell, when she does spoken word portions of their performances. It is internal thoughts externalised, stream of consciousness, a hymn to the mundane everyday banalities of existence.
I absolutely love this! Her voice is hypnotizing. Every time I re-listen to one of their songs, I hear something new it’s like listening to the unwrapping of an onion.

My first experience with "Live From Bandcamp HQ" & I must say the sound engineers & mixing desk are on top.

I think the perfect DC form is being realized in this set. It feels committed and somewhat trippy.

Her spoken style reminds me of a heavily sedated version of John Lydon in PiL and the guitar has a little of Keith Levene in it.
It's almost Joycian at times, the way Florence keeps coming back to food, almost absentmindedly.
