What an interesting introduction to Bo! Would LOVE to see you react to more of his stuff. Just so you're aware, Inside is a Netflix "comedy special" that he made completely by himself in his 1-room guest house during COVID. So in addition to performing it, he wrote, directed, filmed, produced, edited, and composed everything himself! It's truly a masterpiece! This song is from the Inside Outtakes, an hour-long bonus video he put out on the anniversary of Inside's release that is essentially behind the scenes material and songs/bits that didn't make it into the final special.
Not even sure what I should recommend for you to react to next! He's got so much material! Maybe start with the Kanye Rant and Are You Happy from his previous special in one video for some context. Then Content and Comedy together. They set up the premise of Inside nicely. Cheers! ✌️
I skipped ahead to the reaction and then went back when I read your comment.. What an ABSURDLY good/odd first Bo Burnham song to hear. Like... It's amazing but... wow.. everything else is gonna seem so weird.
He outtakes are the songs that didn't make the special. I would check out those that did. I would start with "welcome to the internet."
Bo is a comedian who started when he was 16. He stopped performing when he was 25 because he started having panic attacks on stage. He came back with the masterpiece that is Inside, which he filmed all in one room alone for over a year. He's hilarious but also an incredibly talented musician, writer, actor, and director. I absolutely love his voice especially in this song. He's one of the best songwriters/performers I've seen, but also a fairly underrated vocalist.
This song is probably the most tame of all that he's released, the more you watch the more you can expect some pretty heavy but hilarious stuff.
I really like your technical commentary on his skills. It adds a lot of context and helps me appreciate his work even more.

Yay! I love watching people see Bo for the first time. Awesome reaction! More Bo! He’s such an insanely talented artist.
This is Bo as he is now, a fully fledged auteur who’s worked out all the kinks in his writing and performance. This is from the outtakes of his special Inside that just won 3 Emmy’s and a Grammy. He did it all in a single room over a year or so from early 2020 well into 2021.
He got his start on TH-cam at age 16 and became the youngest person to sign a record deal with Comedy Central as well as get his own special.
This song isn’t really a great example of his “comedy” but it is a great example of his ability to hide existential themes between the lines in his music. Even back when he was young (and very edgy) he had a knack for writing thought provoking, multi-layered songs. One of the biggest things that separates him from damn near anyone else is his openness about mental health and his struggles with it.
There’s so much material to go through but out the gate I recommend “All Eyes on Me”, directly followed by “Kanye Rant” and “Are You Happy”. They’re all interconnected thematically and will give you a hell of a birds-eye view into who he is as an artist.

Treat yourself and just watch the Netflix special so you can get the full experience and hear the songs in context.
A lot of people react to the songs individually, which doesn’t ruin the special, but the special is so incredible that it really deserves a complete first watch. (Some people have reacted to the special and uploaded it in parts. That is probably the best option)

One of the most interesting things about BB is the path he took (and that took him) from a 16 year old shameless, offensive edge lord posting his funny little songs and vines on the internet for his brother, to the artist he is today
(The early stuff was still crazy good lol Whatever else it was, it was still good)

Just so you know, watching ANYTHING from Bo's newest special "Inside" is like watching Avengers Endgame without having watched any of the previous Marvel films.

Dude, I don't know if you realize how many "singer / musician / whoever reacts to songs" videos I've watched, but it's turned me very jaded towards the reaction side of TH-cam.
And you ... You found a way to say "There is a form of comfort in his voice" and got me to actually not skip the part where you comment on the song.

You should also note that, while it is a huge play on the chicken crossing the road, it's also a huge metaphor for a human person wanting to follow their dreams, as evidenced by the idea of her becoming a dentist.
Qofy, this guy is a clever musician! His words are very deliberate and clear. His older stuff as a teen was way out there in terms of tact and cringe, but man, was he clever even back then. No I get it, and that's great. If you look at his older stuff, his voice isn't as great, but the concepts are always mind-blowing.
Based on how much you enjoyed this one piece with no other context, you're gonna fucking love his work. He's definitely taken voice lessons while he took a "break" from performing; if you compare anything from Inside (this is from the Inside Outtakes) to his work prior to the five year break the quality of his singing is noticeably different, in a good way. I hope he feels more confident in his performances now because of it, but knowing how open he is about his depression and insecurities, he's probably still self-deprecating.
