I come back to it and it always makes me feel so much. I want it for people so I can show them how I feel but it doesn't work like that. Gone are the days when my heavy heart is worn on my sleeve.
I discovered The Head And The Heart about 2 months ago. This song hits more than ever now. My father got divorced when I was around 3 and last I saw saw him was when I was 7. He passed away when I was 16(didn't know until 2 months ago, 6 years later). The girl I thought I was going to marry during college, ended breaking up with me for another guy. My mother recently ran off with a womanizer leaving her 17 years of 2nd marriage and our family behind in confusion. Even though she was emotionally abusive, having your own mother leave you behind is just.....hurtful. The people who were closest to me all abandoned me at one point in my life. Although it fucking hurts, I've grown used to it and more stronger. I've learned that the most important person in your life is YOU! You are responsible for your own well being and happiness. You are your own best friend, soul-mate, and mentor. Don't give up! Keep on trying and freely love yourself and others despite all the shit that has happened to your life. You are worthy and have a place to belong. Spread love and happiness! See the love you wish you could have seen and experienced in the eyes of the people you help and the kids you raise!
Wow You have been through a lot in life. Bless your heart at being so strong and keeping such a great attitude. I always agree with the saying There's always someone out there that has it worse than you. Thats always going to be true. I wish you nothing but the very best that life can bring you. Keep staying positive and make lots of wonderful memories.
I listened to this song in November of 2018 when my childhood dog passed away. Today, my second childhood dog has passed away. I only listened once, but this was the only song I listened to this entire day. It is eloquently played. I love you Murphy & Champ. I miss you both so much.
They're like nothing I've ever heard. Actually, the Lumineers are similar and that's how I found these guys and gal but my God they are amazing. I hope this Acoustic Folk generation keeps rising!
This is the perfect song for a break up. Especially one where they break your heart, but then they keep trying to stay in touch. This is the best way to say "You left,so please just stay gone."
It can also be for two people who once had a deep connection but just lost touch over the years and the other is trying to make contact again while the other is wondering where they've been all the years when they needed them. In this case my best friend moved about a year ago and this song always breaks my heart.
I discovered this band by total accident. I was searching up a song I didn't know the name of, and the song Another Story came up. I pressed it, and I was mesmerized within seconds. I've been obsessed with THATH ever since...
This song is such a rare beauty it makes this hopeless heart of mine feel in love everytime I listen to it. It's just ethereal, I cannot really find other words to describe it.
Andrew Purdum Thank you! Your comment is very uplifting and inspiring! I'm currently on my way to finish the novel I've started writing almost a year ago. It will be the first one I finish (although I've been writing since I was 10 or something), and all I dream of is seeing it published and appreciated by people! That would mean the world to me.
There were times you should have stalled As you sailed into the fog Like a dog I smelled your fear Lord knows you should have been here with me But you were gone Now these days roll sleepily by I can hear the old trains cry There will always be a moon pulling me away from you You're gone, gone, gone, gone Gone are the days when the wind would brush my face Gone are the days when you're the wind, and Gone are the days when my heavy heart is worn on my sleeve So take back your pictures Take back your letters Don't send me no postcards telling me you miss me 'Cause I'm trying here I'm trying here And fuck what they're saying 'Cause my mind is made up And they're all just starving like the rest of us And I'm trying here Oh, I'm trying here And you don't even see Gone are the days when the wind would brush my face Gone are the days when you're the wind, and Gone are the days when my heavy heart is worn on your sleeve Whether it's your head or your heart And you're too damn scared to start It's in your mind and your soul But you just don't know where to go It's in your head and your heart And you're too damn scared to start It's in your mind and your soul But you just don't know where to go Now you're gone
The first minute of this song... it does something to me. It encompasses such a feeling of completion, yet a longing at the same time. The Head and the Heart strikes the soul in a way no other band does. And Jon's voice man... enough said
I've known this band for a couple of years and they always help me through the tough times, I will never get tired of their music. This song especially.
As painful as it is living this song, at least I'm not going through it alone. Like so many of their songs it isn't just the melody or the lyrics it is the shared experience evident in the empathy they share with their audience. Truly vulnerable and yet there they are leaving it all out there for us to cling to with them in our struggles. Three years gone and I'm finally at this point, I'm trying here...Now you're gone
I have a Playlist that I play when I go up the north shore in Northern Minnesota and this is one of my songs in that list. I love this band and the beautiful music and words they create. One of many songs to the soundtrack of my life.
"Take all your pictures, take back your letters.. Don't send me no postcards tellin' me you're missing me. Cuz I'm tryin' here. I'm tryin' here. Fuck what they're sayin', cuz my minds made up & they're all just starvin' like the rest of us." Yessssss.
That particular lyric that you quote hit me like a brick the first time I heard it. It was my life and seems like it resonates with so many others. You love someone but have to ultimately take care of your own heart first. Love this song for capturing that.
A friend introduced me to the sublime "Another Story" years ago, but for some reason I never got round to listening to the album until today... and it ends on this great song! What a great discovery for a Wednesday morning. ❤
Had the pleasure of hearing this live 3 times and it is even better live! The last being at Red Rocks on June 29, 2023. If you were around us, I apologize, for you probably couldn’t hear Johnathan singing because we were singing it so loud!
The Let's Be Still album is by far my favorite album of all time, not just by the Head and the Heart, but by any artist. I'm not saying that any of the given songs are my favorite song of all time, but top to bottom this is a perfect album in my opinion. I am working on writing a master's dissertation at the moment and every time I sit down to study I cue this up and listen to the entire thing before moving onto Ice Nine Kills and really pumping up my study experience.
We broke up, and he married with another girl. So I choose to move in another city, get a new job, start over my life, make up my mind. And this is the song that I play in repeat when I'm going home after work. Tears won't stop, but I don't care because my lungs feels so heavy. Thank you for made such amazing songs. I enjoy another song too.
The new album isn't the first album that I bought out of a briefcase from Charity almost 3 years ago at Moe's in Denver, but it's all part of a band's evolution. This is a song that has evolved so well in the past couple of years. The extended version on the album gives me goosebumps. Thank you, THATH.
Generations pass and many words and songs, people are forgotten however if we do an autopsy of the song,"Let's Be Still", We would find a cure for peace Worldwide. Let yourself be lost in this masterful song and lyrics letting your heart follow the messages path. Then maybe what I've just said may make sense... Wayne F. Swanson
I heard this song September of 2016 after a break up and just recently a friend reminded me of that same person who I broke up with that year and here I am listening to this again. 💔
Hi, I'm Leandro, I'm from Brazil, I'm from the interior of ES. I have been accompanying you for some years now, I love your sound, I feel a wonderful energy when listening to all the songs, you have marked a very important period in my life, and your energy has helped me to go through the most difficult moment of my life. I would like to show all the gratitude I feel for you, to transmit this incredible art. I would very much like this message to reach you. I am forever grateful to you. Thank you from the heart.
I've always thought that both the intro and the instrumental solo starting at 4:28 of this song would fit really well in the ending of an emotional movie or something.
I miss you so much. But I know you’re too far gone now. I’m so sorry I let you go I should have never put distance between us. You were one in a billion.
Your band is the best international song for me. I want to compose a song so that I can feel it when I listen to it like this. but a different approach But for me it's hard to make a melody, if you have a trick to make it easier. Can you give me some advice? I'm just try asking , no matter what, you guys are awesome to me always thank, i am from thailand
This may be one of the most beautiful songs ever written .. glad some of us are able to truly admire it
yes....yes ....
Their music makes me want to take a road trip across the US and climb mountains

What's stopping you? I convinced two friends to drive across the country with me and we experienced some pretty incredible things. just go!
love that thought, you are so right on!! Fantastic band and song! (this is their best song by far)
Same here.. let the wind of independence felt through my skin.
@@carrieharlow435 How was it? What did you all do/experience?
I can't even remotely begin to explain how this song makes me feel.
I come back to it and it always makes me feel so much. I want it for people so I can show them how I feel but it doesn't work like that. Gone are the days when my heavy heart is worn on my sleeve.

Stay strong, buddy! 💪💜
thank you for sharing. you are not alone
Orgil Batzorig sorry, life is tough. No one said life is easy, but I wish it could be a little more understanding if not forgiving.
thank ou for this...i'm super alone but you're right...we can be happy if we want to
I listened to this song in November of 2018 when my childhood dog passed away. Today, my second childhood dog has passed away. I only listened once, but this was the only song I listened to this entire day. It is eloquently played.

This song, in fact this band helped me through a real tough breakup. Cheers guys.
They're like nothing I've ever heard. Actually, the Lumineers are similar and that's how I found these guys and gal but my God they are amazing. I hope this Acoustic Folk generation keeps rising!
Sameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Going through it now, dude. Glad I'm not the only one.
+Davit Bun How you doing?
***** I'm doing well, man. When I hear this song, I think of her and wish we could go back like it once was.. How about you?
This is the perfect song for a break up. Especially one where they break your heart, but then they keep trying to stay in touch. This is the best way to say "You left,so please just stay gone."
Baily Cresci I like the way you worded that...Please stay gone indeed....

gosh you're quite poetic. your words are beautiful
Lily Shealan Thank you Lily. That means a lot to me, as I am actually an aspiring novelist. :)
Brother- If you've got a dream, reach for it and don't take no for an answer. I ust to be an aspiring, now I'm a published novelist. You can do it!
Andrew Purdum

Davide Gambino How is your novel going? I've been wondering every time I come to this video; I'm working on one myself.
There were times you should have stalled
As you sailed into the fog
Like a dog I smelled your fear
Lord knows you should have been here with me
But you were gone
Now these days roll sleepily by
I can hear the old trains cry
There will always be a moon pulling me away from you
You're gone, gone, gone, gone
Gone are the days when the wind would brush my face
Gone are the days when you're the wind, and
Gone are the days when my heavy heart is worn on my sleeve
So take back your pictures
Take back your letters
Don't send me no postcards telling me you miss me
'Cause I'm trying here
I'm trying here
And fuck what they're saying
'Cause my mind is made up
And they're all just starving like the rest of us
And I'm trying here
Oh, I'm trying here
And you don't even see
Gone are the days when the wind would brush my face
Gone are the days when you're the wind, and
Gone are the days when my heavy heart is worn on your sleeve
Whether it's your head or your heart
And you're too damn scared to start
It's in your mind and your soul
But you just don't know where to go
It's in your head and your heart
And you're too damn scared to start
It's in your mind and your soul
But you just don't know where to go
Now you're gone
Bless you
Thanks yous verys muchs

just a shame about the other 5.5 minutes, I'd have loved a full length song like that
I love this comment more than I love myself

This song is so good it gives me chills, it's such a perfect ending to an awesome album.
i am new to this band but wow, why didn't I discover this band earlier! My top picks are this, Down in the valley and Signs of Light!!
"Take all your pictures, take back your letters.. Don't send me no postcards tellin' me you're missing me. Cuz I'm tryin' here. I'm tryin' here. Fuck what they're sayin', cuz my minds made up & they're all just starvin' like the rest of us."

This song is breaking my heart right now.
I discovered this band over 5 years ago and have been a fan ever since. They are so underrated. I got to see them in CO..Red Rocks.
From 4:29 until the end is pure gold.
Yes, epic. Masterfully written, sung, and orchestrated.
a piece by itself, just amazing
Had the pleasure of hearing this live 3 times and it is even better live!
The last being at Red Rocks on June 29, 2023. If you were around us, I apologize, for you probably couldn’t hear Johnathan singing because we were singing it so loud!
Is THATH a band? A people? A feeling? All of the above? We may never know...
Absolutely in love with The Head and The Heart. They are so magical
Such a beautiful song, can't stop listening

Gone are the days when you're the wind...
Incredibly underrated song!

I found Honeybee by accident and now I'm loving every song. 🤩
The lyrics go straight to the heart

This song is absolute perfection!
I'm so in love with this song
Always soothes my aching heart
I see all the comments and not one is negative. That takes a band that knows what they're doing. I applaud you THATH!
Still listening in 2020. Love your music, it's literally poetry to my ears
Music is poetry
This weekend is my first listen.. I'm impressed!
I heard this song September of 2016 after a break up and just recently a friend reminded me of that same person who I broke up with that year and here I am listening to this again. 💔
My dog passed away and all these songs just make me cry and cry and cry
Amazing, beautiful, unexpected.

This feels like 3 similar songs in one.

Such a wonderful band. That sound...
i started with 'down in the valley' ♡♡♡
This sound is in my soul.
They have come a long way since performing at the Oregon Zoo.
Play, Repeat, Play, Repeat, Play, Repeat, Calming to my soul
Strongly resonate.
Best THATH song!!
I love this song in the most painful way
Felt this one
Waking down the aisle to this at my wedding … speaking into existence
Here to say, I’ve been single for 5 months…. Hits differently going through a heartache
I've always thought that both the intro and the instrumental solo starting at 4:28 of this song would fit really well in the ending of an emotional movie or something.
Love them!
I feel like this should be the background music in a movie trailer.
I do too :o
Yo holy shit I literally also had the thought that this could be perfect in a movie soundtrack. lmao
I love The Head and The Heart. The vocals especially in this song remind me of Bob Dylan, but I like these better actually.
Love them!!!!
Perfect...🍃😍
I just love them
masterpiece, epic, awesome .
Im tipping this band would be awesome live.
I can assure you, they are quite spectacular live.
I miss you so much. But I know you’re too far gone now. I’m so sorry I let you go I should have never put distance between us. You were one in a billion.

It's great .. ;)

Anyone else notice that the Stranger Things opening theme sounds similar to that one part of this song (1:54)?
All love
