Thanks for showing how you did this. I have a Solo Plus 30. Built in 1995, so it's almost 30 years old. "The parts are rather pricey" is an understatement.

Great job. I will be changing my refractory insert stone and the combustion tunnel on my solo plus 30 this summer also. I will make my insert stone and tunnel. Years ago I worked for a refractory co.
One thing about refractory is it's very brittle. I always set my wood in on the fire, try not to through the wood in. The refractory will brake. Always try and wear a mask when working with refractory, its got very bad stuff in it.
    Keep making video's

I made a water trap for my shop vac when cleaning the stove / chimney
bought a roll of sump pump hose, it was the cheapest vacuum sized hose I could find, pool hose is good too
hole saw a couple openings in the lid of a 5 gal bucket, make sure the hose is a tight fit
run the pump hose to the bottom of the bucket, set the shop vac hose just below the lid
fill the bucket 1/2 or 2/3 with water, the ash and soot has to bubble through the water where almost all is caught
      empty often, dont overfill
good for sheet rock dust too

Do you have a video on cleaning the fan and fan area for the Tarm?

Hi Tony, great job replacing you tunnel and insert stone. Now that summer is here I have removed my tunnel and insert stone. I am in the process of building my own refractory parts. My insert stone looks just like your old one. Can you tell me how wide the gap ( place the fire burns down through the insert stone ) is? Looking at your new one maybe 1 1/4", not sure. Can you help please.
Looks like you have a nice farm.
    Thank Mark

I think the total was $740 with the two gaskets. Not sure what shipping will be. The job really wasn't hard. They didn't fit as tight as I thought they would, but the gaps will fill in with ash and soot. Thanks for watching!
