    As a mom of 3 teenage daughter’s every single thing you said was 100% spot on!! The relationships I have with my daughters are far better than I had with my parents! One of the big ones you mentioned about not taking thing’s personally, it took me some time to learn that but once it clicked it changed my perspective greatly!

    This made me cry and the reminder I needed that I’m not a bad mom ❤️ I do all these things with my kids and I also have really bad days most days because I’m recovering from trauma outside of parenting. I’ve clinged onto a habit of picking up my phone because I’m overwhelmed and I know I should put it down and shut it off but it’s hard. I do my best to work on it. I apologize to my kids, I let them know I’m learning WITH them and that im getting better. I try not to say “no” if it’s a reasonable ask, and I explain what’s going on at all times. I needed all of this, thank you for being my 2nd mom ❤

    Always such sage advice! My 14 y/o grand is really struggling with behaviors that I swear stem from her phone addiction and it is an ADDICTION! Fortunately, her grades have not been affected, but she lives in a world of isolation unless her parents intervene. Her school allows phones, so it is a constant. Hate it for this young generation who will most likely be socially inept. Love you Nat!

    • @natnonsenseasmr
      @natnonsenseasmr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s hard to watch and even harder not to step in but we walk such a fine line with what we can even say or do :( and whyyyyy did schools start allowing phones in class? Then they wonder why kids are not learning the basics, -knowing how to interact or communicate in real life? I’m growing more and more concerned. Love ya Eda!!

      As a teenager I whole heartedly agree with this comment about my generation haha

  • @camillelcr1553
    @camillelcr1553 ปีที่แล้ว

    That’s very good advice!
    What’s crazy is that as a kid I really felt like my parents had raised me well, that I received a good education, etc. and that I was going to do the same with my kids. But it’s when I became a mom myself that I realized how many things were not ok in my upbringing, and it was kind of the epiphany I needed to finally understand why I am the way I am. Unless you’ve been actually abused, I feel that a lot of us need to become parents to really see through a whole new lense what our parents did that was not ok.
    I love how you mentioned you have to show interest in what they love, my mother didn’t care one second that I was interested in some of the things I was interested in, and she would say it out loud and that’s typically one of the things I grew up thinking it was ok when it really wasn’t and it hurt me more than I would realize at the time.
    The one thing I really don’t want to do to my kids but is hard resisting when it’s all you knew, is telling them they annoy me or that they’re a pain in my behind, I heard that more times than I can count while growing up and even though I understand now that as a parent sometimes you find your kids extremely annoying, they trigger you for some reason but a kid should never hear from you that they’re kind of a burden to you, because again it really hurt me more than I realized before being a mom and learning about childhood trauma, and I’m doing my best to avoid reproducing it, but it’s so hard at times when it’s so ingrained 😩
    As for the budgeting part, I agree 1000%!!
    My family didn’t struggle with finances but my parents always wanted my sister and I to have an idea of budgeting, and my husband and his two brothers were raised in a poor household and their mom never tried to hide from them that they didn’t have a lot of resources, and they grew up to be the three most financially responsible adults I’ve even met, I always tell myself I’m lucky that my husband is so great at dealing with finances because even though I’m not so bad, you can definitely see I grew up having almost all I wanted 😅
    I’ve told you many times already, but I’m going to say it again, your kids are lucky to have you as their mom! ❤️

    • @natnonsenseasmr
      @natnonsenseasmr  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much Camille!!! I was thinking about the “annoyed” feeling and really when I’m feeling annoyed I’m actually feeling overstimulated or exhausted so it’s really a matter of using words and communicating “mom feels really overwhelmed and Needs a few minutes” 😂😂 can really make a difference. Which is what I’m currently struggling with - since Cruz is essentially an “only child” with his siblings being so much older he’s looking to me to be his 24/7 playmate so I’m definitely searching for phrases that don’t hurt his feelings but also encourage him to do independent play or to give moms body a little space. As you know “playing” is not my strong suit 😂😂

    • @camillelcr1553
      @camillelcr1553 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@natnonsenseasmr You’re giving a great idea when you say it’s just about the choice of words, sometimes I forget I can do that, I want to say « you’re annoying » but I know I cannot say that so I end up not saying anything which doesn’t really help me, it’s true that I could tell them I need some space or something similar 😅
      Same, playing is neither my strong suit nor my cup of tea and when their dad is not there they’re expecting me to replace him by playing with them. My husband needs to leave for two weeks to go to Japan for professional reasons and I already have so much anxiety when I think of how I’m gonna keep them entertained 🥲
