You are absolutely right on the nurse thing. My mother, who now manages the healthcare workers of a nursing home, has been a nurse for 15+ years, and after working her whole career as a healthcare worker she often says that there are people in these professions that like the power dynamic it provides, especially in places like nursing homes where people are really vulnerable. Some people are mistreating and being real bullies to patients or even coworkers and you can see that they clearly chose this job so that they could be mean in nearly total impunity…
I feel soooo bad for the coworkers and the patients of these bad apples. I’ve seen my friends that are nurses growing frustrated And burnt out and honestly traumatized by it. The patients are a huge workload then throw in a coworker like that and it’s a recipe for disaster.
Great video, as usual! I'm considering adopting the one-hour friend rule after watching this. I have a friend who can be quite demanding. If I go without seeing him for a couple of weeks, he tends to spend the entire time we're together complaining about how I don't seem invested in our friendship. It's challenging for him to grasp that I'm married, working full-time, and attending school full-time, with a lot on my plate. Meeting his needs isn't my top priority. Enduring his company for over an hour is challenging due to his constant need for companionship. The one hour rule would be beneficial. At least to me, that is!
Nurse here 👋. Sometimes we can feel awkward when a patient is naked etc. but if you’re a professional you conduct yourself as such. I try to put myself in other ppls shoes and talk to them how I’d want to be talked to in that situation. Try to put them at ease and take their mind off of what I’m doing. I agree some nurses became nurses to assert control or because they like the way it appears to others or just wrong reasons period. And we can tell that immediately when we run across one. Nursing is not for the weak (weak physically,mentally or emotionally) and those nurses weed themselves out after a while. 😊
Oh absolutely and patients come in all attitudes as well. Did you see the recent tik tok nurse drama? Lots of nurses calling out their crappy coworkers that got into it for the wrong reasons basically having to pickup their slack. Really sad that the bad apples make so much more work for the good ones and burning them out.
@@natnonsenseasmr no I’m not on tik tok. But I believe it. Those nurses walk around like their gods gift. But Won’t answer a call light. Won’t help aides/techs when they can. Won’t help another nurses patient just because it’s not her “responsibility”. Sit at nurses station gossiping and kissing every drs a$$ that walks by. The real ones see it. On a hospital floor you have to be a team. And if you got one of these nurses the others sometimes will bully her off the floor. Nurses will eat their young. Get in line or get out. Because ppls lives depend on it and the work is exhausting
