    Just learned the difference between an arch and a line. Awesome!

    Wow. This just makes sense now. Been fishing for 10 years with fish finders and had no idea what I was seeing. I only used for depth and water temp. Thanks. This helped me a lot

    In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens th-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

    Thanks so much. I bought my first real fish finder this summer and have been wondering how to decipher what the screen is telling me. Thanks for clearing it up. 👍🏻

    Great video. Have heard of guides here in Oregon salmon or Steelhead fishing and tell the client a fish is going for your bait or lure. Also guides, the really great ones, are using side image to locate salmon and Steelhead especially in the rivers. Show we watch mentioned guide Brandon Glass fishing for Winter Steelhead using side imaging and notices fish on the opposite side of the river. Tells clients to reel in moves to the other side and hooks a fish. This spring I am looking forward to having great side imaging to troll for Spring Chinook. They can be in 10' water one day and 30' the next. With good side imaging I hope to locate where the Chinook are traveling and move in that path.

    Great video.
    All you said is true but only when your boat is anchored/not moving. If the boat is moving then you won't see any lines on the Screen but only arches. Unless the fish move with you at your boat speed and direction lol
    Thanks for sharing this video.

    Just fyi there is a dead zone 0 to 8 inches from the bottom the sonar does not see. This is easy to prove through the ice with a camera . I have shown this many times to unbelievers. What I would like to know, using the trolling motor with the transducer mounted on it or in it, do have to shut your Hummingbird off when it's not in the water, Will it fry the sonar if the transducer is sitting in the air while the unit is on Thanx

    I use my Humminbirds to fish vertical all the time. You guys should show a brother some love. My birds get a lot of TH-cam screen time.

    I was wondering what if it is the down imaging. Will the fish appear the same line underneath or just keep ......... something like that.

      Use a drop shot rig and drop drop shot rig below transducer. Turn sensitivity up until dropshot rig shows. Thank you.

    My hummingbird helix won't show my lure, i even tried using my anchor and still don't get it to show anything. So how is it supposed to show a fish if it won't even pick up a 20 pound anchor. Ive spent day's trying to figure it out.

      Hope you get an answer on that by one of the experts on here. Seems odd for sure. Have you done a reset of your unit? Does the unit ever see anything on the sonar? Could be a defective transducer or something as simple as a setting. The reset would undo any changed setting that might be causing the problem.

    • @TurboRanger351
      @TurboRanger351 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bob Askey i have done the updates, and tried resetting to factory settings. It does seem to be picking up all the correct depths according to charts previously used from my lowrance. Do you know what setting i should try as a good starting point. Thank you

      I'm not sure exactly what would cause depth readings but nothing else. I would go into the Sonar Menu and see what Sensitivity is set at try mid range. Under I think settings you can change from Normal mode to Advanced. That will give you more settings. If you did a system Reset I would think your unit would be back to default settings. If all else fails I would setup the unit powered on and call Humminbird support. Out of the water Humminbird support told me the Sonar should be Off. Probably have to be on the water for actual readings. They could check some settings and verify if the transducer is bad or just a setting.
