Very similar to the 06 I tuned a couple weeks ago, The tune was acting about the same as yours, the idle was ~40% off in fueling but everywhere else was ok. Being that far off caused the ECU STFT and long term to over compensate, then when you touch the gas and you get into the good part of the map it has to compensate all the way the other direction, causing stumble and not a smooth feeling engine. It was a Blouch 18G ext. gate and BOV. Thing pulled great on 21psi, a huge wall of power came in hard @ 4k rpm. Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays my friend! Sounds like a fun car, the driveability isseus for me always ruin the car. if it wont drive nice it needs to be retouched lol
@@ConnSoIo On the few Subarus I've street tuned, Including my own, I've had to pull 20-40% out of the MAF scale area at idle and blend it up into the light throttle area. The more high air flow parts you add actually lowers the air speed in the low rpm idle area. I don't agree with leaving the idle area with more than 5-10% STFT either way and near zero LTFTs. You want the ECU doing the least amount of calculations possible. I would guess that most tuners don't worry as much about it because it doesn't hurt the engine very much if at all to be off in those areas, but it does causes some drivability issues at times and if you run a hot tune you could have increased knock in those areas because the ecu can't adjust fast enough. Be nice to your tuner and respect his/her time. :)
My suggestion is fix the car and the issues it has and get it retuned and possibly a e85 tune and feel it out. I think you will be shocked at how well the 1.5xtr does. Curious on how many miles are on the engine. That engine can handle 28psi 500whp mustang all day long only thing holding it back is better headstuds lol. If you end up building a motor for this car, then take the current motor and throw it in the RS?
Not sure how “plug and play” that’s be
Also why not keep the ecutek that’s what I’m running and it works great
Prefer to use Cobb on this one. Basic bolt on car that's still in regulation
