Several times you suggest that you could play Angrath’s Rampage to make them sacrifice a Witch’s Oven, like 40:40. However keep in mind that, when they have food tokens, you can’t make them sacrifice an Oven. It would have been a devastating misplay every time you thought about doing it.
My initial idea with Allure of the unknown was to use it with teferi, so the opponent could not cast it. But then...what jank card is not good with him?
You can also use Erebos's Intervention when the return-cat-to-battlefield ability is on the stack, which makes them sack a food for nothing. Very fun card, I was running it in esper control in the early days of theros and it ruins dance of the manse decks
You could play it with creatures that you return to your control. Prince and that legendary 1/4 could be fun. That would use the negative and turn it into a plus.
This deck is so much fun omg. Played it on ladder all day and was very satisfying I also added a one of Amplifire in my version and boy howdy. Nothing feels better than suddenly getting a 12/12 and having access to all kinds of removal to ensure it gets through for damage
@@tjdragon7993 Honestly it only happened once in all the games I've played, since its only the one of. But when it did happen I had mana available to use a kill spell on it immediately. 2 things: angrath's rampage would not have forced them sacrifice an oven, they had food there to sac. Also, when you played kroxa you said that if they held the land they would have saved 3 life. Kroxa still takes life if they discard a land to his effect.

@@haveiszalfaroqie1628 yeah, therefore I'd cut it. Gates Ablaze, Gatebreaker Ram and Glaive of the Guildpact would be fine though. Glaive is great with Fervent Champion also

i commend you for that first game. you have the patience of our government not trying to give us all checks even though half the country is going into debt.
I played around with this a little and it was fun, but I noticed that smart opponents used my Allure of the Unknown as a great way to exile my own Kroxa, decline to cast him, and leave him in exile. That 'may'-clause on Allure is a real weakness of the deck imo
Beautiful!!! This is the kind of Jank I live and subscribe for :) I would NEVER have thought Allure of the Unkown would actually be "decent"... mad props! =)
okay so erebos intervention is actually just an amazing card. that graveyard exile is just backbreaking in certain circumstances, and when it's not useful you got a nice little stack of lifegain on the back of creature removal that can hit theros gods
You can also remove the cat after he sacrifices the food and the cat is about to enter the battlefield (like if you were gonna counter it). That way he loses the cat and the food
Honestly you're one of the best Arena TH-camrs because you are very vocal of your thought process. Not only that, but you have fun while still being very methodical and strategic in your plays! Keep up the good work, and thanks for a great video to watch on my birthday :)
Made a Grixis version of this today after watching. One good thing to note is that they need to play the card they exile at that moment, so if they exile a counterspell, it literally just gets discarded (found that out just now).
The big advantage of Erebos's intervention is to x for a lot to gain you a lot of life so you should never cast it for x less than 3-4 except if you're dying or you want to eliminate 2 creatures
I was playing with you last 2 days, and you were playing this deck. I was playing a similar Rakdos Kroxa deck and knew who you were when I played with you (was an honour!). Cheers from down under.
I'm not sure about the colorless lands, with how color intensive kroxa and bedevil are, and how swamp loving locthwain is. Field of ruin in particular seems like a terrible trade-off between color screw and marginal benefit
This is some of the best played magic. It's easy to get behind a strong deck which pressures your opponents with constant power and value. Here, you take a weak deck and battle much better ones and nearly come out undefeated (2 perfect top-decks from one opponent spoiled it). Even with the understandable advantage of surprise, I couldn't help but feel like each opponent should have beaten you but got thrown off their game with good strategy. While I would never consider making much less playing this deck, I appreciated watching you play it.
It might have been better as mardu or grixis control. There's a lot more controlly stuff you could get with either blue or white that the opponent wouldn't want to cast against you. A lot more board wipe possibilities as well, especially down the mardu path, but probably a bit more spot removal with grixis
I don't know if she's in the deck (I haven't yet watched the video), but Lavinia would make fun 4-color (or maybe make it 5-color just because) jank with it to turn off the spell casting.
40:14 I wish you would have seen sacrificing field of ruin for an immediate kroxa play. It could have kept up your winstreak with this otherwise crazy deck. Love it!
