SIARGAO island after TYPHOON

In March 2023 we visited Siargao Island after typhoon Odette damaged it in 2021. Many people are wondering if it’s still worth visiting and in this video we check out some of the popular tourist attractions on the island so you can see for yourself the recovery of the island. This tropical island is located in the southern Philippines. This island is known as the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines” but there is so much more you can do besides surfing. In this video we check out the palm tree lookout, the Magpupungko Rock Pools, Cloud 9 boardwalk and Alegria Beach.
Magpupungko Rock Pools are natural tidal pools found in the town of Pilar, on the east coast of Siargao.
They are created from water left behind in a coastal rock formation when the ocean retreats at low tide. It’s a popular place to go swimming and cliff jumping and there is even a beautiful beach to hang out. Since it’s the best to come at low tide, it’s hard to avoid crowds but it’s still worth visiting.
Cloud 9 is a popular spot for surfing on Siargao Island. Most popular time for surfers to visit is from September to November where the waves go as high as 8 to 12 feet. When we visited in March the waves were not too big and we didn’t see as many pro surfers in the water but it’s still a fun place to hang out and learn how to surf if you’re a beginner.
Alegria Beach is what locals told us is the most beautiful beach on the island. Unfortunately we did not have the best weather to enjoy it for too long but it was stunning.
