Pretty cool watching this... I grew up in the '70s and my sister adored Tony and The Franco family. People today might think this is cheesy but the '70s were pretty great! I grew up in the best time in human history!

Seems like a really nice guy with his feet on the ground , not ego driven or resentful . I assume he and his siblings had well grounded parents and that makes all the difference . Kudos to him and his family .
I used to read Tiger Beat and that's where I learned of the Defranco family. I got the 45 single "Heart Beat It's A Love Beat" for Christmas at my elementary school Christmas party. Spent the Christmas holidays in front of the old brick gas heater with my turntable listening to it, over and over again. Great memories. He's still handsome!! ❤Beat!
He still has a beautiful voice! I grew up in Scandinavia, never saw them on tv, read about them in youth-magazines and heard them a few times on the radio. I was an Osmond fan but Tony was just as good as Donny! When I got my first computer at the age of 37 in 1980 I hurried to find The Osmonds and De Francos, and finally see them "live" dancing and singing🥰
I really do wish that Tony DeFranco was still singing because i think he was really Great at it. I really do miss him but i guess its just the way it goes. I really do wish him well and i will never forget him ever.
I and Tony are about the same age. The family music was happy, uplifting, inspiring and just made you feel good. He had said in some interview? That their contracts with music was not the most beneficial to the family? Thanks Tony for make a sad child happy for a little while. My Respects to You Sir, and your very Talented Family. RH DSD
Tony grew up to be a handsome man!I had a huge crush on Tony Defranco when I was ten."Heart beat it's a love beat"was the first Defranco Family songs I'd heard. And my fave!I like "Save the last dance for me also.Hi Tony&Defranco Family!thanks for making my life fun!🎸🎤😊
The dude can still sing well! Looks like he kept himself fit and healthy too. Good for Tony. I hope the rest of his brothers and sisters did well too into adulthood.
I was 9 yrs old when i watched all of De Franco Family perform at a Bob Hope OSU tour 1973 Ft. Worth Tx. Cotton Bowl Stadium. 80000 thousand other souls watched also :-)) 50 star studded night and it was Grand.
So much Talent and beauty 🎉❤❤❤ I made my mother buy everything with their pictures! I makes my heart skip beats to see him. I always wondered what happened to them. I am very happy they're healthy and have a family!!!!🎉❤❤❤❤
Doesn't appear that childhood stardom messed him up in the slightest. Seems like a level-headed guy! I'd love to see these guys in person today! Great memories of their music in grade school. I should say Thanks DeFrancos!
I grew up listening "Time Enough for Love"..usually the radio played very early in the morning when my sisters got prepared to go to scholl. THANKS VERY MUCH TONY!!!!
I was only like 2 yrs old when the DeFranco Family hit it big with Heartbeat it's a Lovebeat, but I remember that album being in my older sibling's collection and it's one of the earliest songs I can remember hearing in my childhood. I heard it on the 70s station on XM today and it just blew my mind, such a blast from the past, really stirred up the nostalgia for me.
What a wonderful memory! I was one of those 11 yr old girls that subscribed to Tiger Beat Magazine and LOVED Tony & the DeFrancos! Thank you so much for this update! ❤
November and December 1973. Loved this song. God bless Tony DeFranco and the DeFranco Family many more years of good health. The World needs more singers like them today. Being a Niagara Falls, Ontario born and grew up in kid we quickly knew who Canadian music acts were first before the rest of the World became more familiar with them. It was a top hit at around the first time in my life I fell in love with the opposite sex a few years before I ever knew what sex is. This song reminds me even as a 9 year boy a Family neighbourhood girlfriend the same age as me and I played the song when we were together when she visited my house. She also hung around my sister. What do I remember about the Fall and Christmas? My sister's 45 RPM Records I played: Elvis Presley "Burning Love", The Rolling Stones "Angie", Led Zeppelin "Dyer Maker", Edgar Winter Group "Free Ride", The DeFranco Family "Heartbeat It's A Lovebeat", Todd Rundgren "Hello It's Me", Loggins and Messina "My Music", Helen Reddy "Leave Me Alone", and the Carpenters "Top Of The World". For the second Christmas in a row in 1973 like 1972 I had a box of 64 Crayola Crayons With Built-In Sharpener and 24 Case of Venus Canada Laurentian Pencil Crayons given as gifts. Also Evel Knievel Toy Bike, hahahahahaha
Love that you remember all those songs. Some of the best from those years. I was 15/16 and they are indelible parts of my high school memories...would love to go back, if only for awhile..
That was so much interesting to watch that was an interesting interview of Tony DE Franco as great to see him sing that song after so many years and see and Benny with them
I was an Osmond fanatico, Tony was a little too young for me but I did love the Heartbeat song. Glad to hear he's had so much success behind the scenes.
I would love to see a video of this entire thing... but thank you for this clip. I have never seen it. OMG.. that is my YOUTH right there. And that is my heart. I'm still eleven when I look at his beautiful face. I used to literally about pass out when I would see Tony on tv. Every month I would wait for bated breath until the new Tiger Beat hit the stands. I finally got to see him at Six Flags over MidAmerica. My parents took me and my mom was his second biggest fan, next to me of course. She told the story for years... that he came out to the crowd and said, "Hi, I'm Tony." And the girls went into hysterics. She talked about him yearly until her death in '95. In my life, my youth.. he was IT. No Elvis, No Donny, Nobody else.. he was IT. *sigh.. such great memories Gawd, I miss my youth. lol
I use to get mistaken for Tony in shopping malls Ironically my last name is DeCarlo lol. Still remember them in the 70s growing up close to where they lived in Ontario.
I really do think Tony DiFranco is Great and I would love to meet him I have always thought he was a great singer and I wish he was still singing. 😅 🎉 ❤.
@@DebbieUnderfinger I knew him at Walter Reed JHS in North Hollywood California in Los Angeles. This was between 1971- 1974.He was a just a regular guy.He wasn't famous yet.😁
I wonder if Tony would think it was ok if I cover "Heartbeat" but in an adult deeper voice, like sort of how Elvis might have done it..I will do it, what do you all think?
I was in Central Music in Welland when some of the DeFranco family came in to buy some microphones, if I remember, Shure SM 58. However, that is an easy guess.
BECAME FRIENDS WITH THESE GUYS WHEN THEY APPEARED ON THE MIKE DOUGLAS SHOW WHEN MY AUNT WAS HIS PRODUCER AND I REMEMBER THERE MOM TALKING WITH MOM THE WHOLE SHOW WHILE I WAS BONDING WITH TONY AND THE GUYS. ALL OF US HAD GREAT PARENTS WHAT BETTER BONDING THAN THAT.
Only Tony DeFranco's voice was actually used on the records. All the siblings really sang during their sessions, but afterwards the background vocals were substituted with session singers. The same session singers who "augmented" the Bradys, Jacksons, and Partridges. It was in effect Tony DeFranco and the Partridge Kids. The Defranco Family was unaware of it. The Tiger Best man was frustrated over not receiving a cut of record sales from all those faces in his magazines. He simply created an act to make that money.
Still handsome a very good looking family. Sweet had the 45s unroll I moved to Florida the movers stole my records. Except my Beatles albums that were my mom's. I left them with her.
