maybe i would also add that you can do the hockey stop by lifting your back foot (stoping on the outside edge) to position it properly... it works for some ppl aswell :) I did my first hockey stop like that like a week ago and it worked for me flawlessly... first i managed to do that hockey stop on one foot and after that instead of turning both feet simultaneously i just turned the front foot and lifted and added the second foot already positioned on the outside edge :) and ALSO you missed a very very important thing... you need to have your weight on the front to the middle side of your skate because you are stopping on the front to the middle area of the skate blade and not the heel part. Another thing I realized :D

Do you have a designated place in NYC to get ur skates sharpened ? I usually go to prospect but I feel there are better spots

For skaing does it matter if I use hockey or figure and what's the difference between the skates for goalie and players?
Yes it does matter. Depending on where your passion goes
@niklausprosper so if I just want to mess around and kind of freestyle/have fun, is there a preference for it? Not looking to play hockey at all or do any figure skating competition
If you don't want to figure skate and you're not taking lessons, hockey skates all the way. If you are in class you will need figure skates to learn waltz jump and other jumps. If you are doing any figure skating or class, I can tell you it's best to go with figure skates from the start because once you get used to hockey skates figure skates are annoying and you will view the toe picks as enemies whereas figure skaters love them. Freestyle skating uses hockey skates. Figure skates will not work well for freestyle skating.

Yes you can but it’s best to have your own skates
Hockey stop is easier with dull skates.

I cant seem to put enough weight on my front foot but when I do I dont stop fluently, any help about this?
You have to lean backwards slightly but maintain the weight on the front foot
@@niklausprospercould also be that my skates barely have edges since the rink sharpener messed them up and there isn’t a skate shop anywhere near me
