A summary to the inception of this video: Vale gets sucked into a new fandom, catches one of her notorious "sympathy for the devil" cases, ends up only really rooting ship-wise for the one ship in said show that eventually explodes into a supernova of angst, and suffers for it. See a pattern? Because I do xD when will I ever learn, honestly.
I can safely say I'm never regretting finally picking up Voltron though -- granted, I might have wanted to pick a less crazy season to culminate my episodes-marathon with ^^' but this show is amazing in every possible way. Multi-layered, relatable, diverse and engaging characters at every corner, deep themes and amazing art style make it the real virtual heir to ATLA that LOK never quite was to me. After seeing so many gorgeous edits around it's so exciting to be able to join the fray!
There are so many things and people worth vidding about in the show (makes me wish I didn't suck so much at general videos) and I have a lot of favourites, but these two had to take precedence because...after seeing s5 and s6 one after the other I needed some serious elaboration of feels. This is the result, which I hope doesn't show too much how new to the fandom I am ^^
As for Lotor himself, who is a bit of a hot topic at the moment...I have lots, lots to say about him and I'll thank the stars forever for Anouk and Becca, aka the ones who prompted me to finally dive into VLD, to have born with my ramblings these past couple of weeks in which I have annoyed them to no end (and especially Anouk, who doesn't even like him all that much ^^') -- here I will just say that, however you see him, he is amazingly complex and one of the most fascinating antagonists in recent media, I think. Despite his terrible deeds, I still believe he has it in him to do right by the end of this story and deserves to have a shot at freeing himself from the shadows of his upbringing, but I suppose only time will tell which reading of him is correct and if he really is just a charming, crafty bastard (for which I will probably love him no less) xD. In the meantime, I was overly glad to hear the producers confirm his feelings for Allura as very real -- a tiny bit of vindication as a shipper, and perhaps a clue that he really isn't 24/7 manipulating people. Aren't shades of grey better in a character anyway?

I actually just caught up on Voltron, watching s5 and s6 back to back this week and I came out with the same feelings. I didn’t trust Lotor the whole time, but I could see a genuine, feeling person inside him and it broke my heart to watch everything fall apart. Great video :) and welcome to the Voltron fandom!

And yeah, I totally agree -- could easily see Lotor's partnership with the Paladins blow up over morality differences at some point, but it still hurt because I still feel their overall goal was the same and I felt like he truly cared about bettering the universe. Also, imo there's something truly heartbreaking in watching a brilliant logical mind, good or evil, completely unravel and go nuts -- I've seen the parallel with Azula thrown around a lot where Lotor is concerned, and I've never thought it 100% accurate, but in this case the hurt when seeing them break apart is the same :(

Great work, I see this as the real true ship for Allura and I feel the writers were just trying to please to many Fans and it all fell apart so they just gave up on the series. *sigh* I wish they had given him another chance and not of done him dirty, same for Allura.
I completely with you right there (T＿T)💔 this could have been such a great plotline when comes to romance with a large tint of angst. These two are truly the star crossed lovers of Voltron. The Space Romeo and Juliet in this story(╥_╥)

I'm really glad you liked the video -- and I agree sm, to me Lotura will always be the one true ship that made Allura happy, energetic and empowered like she should always have been. Where the team constantly doubted her judgement, Lotor supported her; where team V couldn't possibly 100% understand how she felt re: her lost culture and link to alchemy and people from her past, Lotor could...I honestly think I'll always struggle to understand why they decided to throw him, her and the ship under the bus in such a lazily written way, after proving they're capable of creating this incredible connection between them. It feels like such a waste :(
@@irydionlover it's alright, The holidays are always a busy time of the year. I feel like it was such poor writing to just have her right after they kiss to toss him across the room like they never had anything and her just listen to some girls words. I feel like they all should of talked about it because he really did love her and didn't want to fight them. (spoiler) Not to be rude to anyone that ships Allura with Lance but that ship has always been so one sided from the very beginning so her ending up with him just to go and die was a huge slap in everyone's face. I don't want to disrespect anyone but i feel like so many things got changed for the toxic fans of the show, Shiro becoming Gay out of no where shocked my gay and straight friends and upset us with how they said it was "always planed" I think if it was, Adam would of been shown a lot sooner or Shiro would of shown some kinda sign that he had a lover and missed him, then they killed him also made it seem Shiro had aids...and because of a huge backlash they gave Shiro another random lover and his life goal is getting married..What? Lace became Altean for some reason that i can only explain buy the writers trying to give fans what they wanted again because before this season I kept seeing Klance art with Lance being Altean. In truth I think the writers and even cast were getting so worn out by the toxic fans because they are the more vocal of the fans sadly that they just starter writing the story that was planed and just gave in and lost heart.
@@kushu9797 it absolutely _is_ poor writing, and a lot of it! Despite s8 having some cool moments, I'm afraid the bad outshines the good for me too, at least for the moment. The fact that now in s8 Allura was very willing to talk and reason with and give second chances to Honerva, who has been nothing but an enemy to her until the very last minute (unlike Lotor!), throws even more nonsensical shade to the team tossing him out without even bothering to think twice about it in s6. As for Shadam, I was quite happy with the concept as they had initially presented it tbh, but the fact that they killed Adam off without a care (after speaking of him as some pivotal character) and then gave Shiro a supposed happy ending with a random character we have spent 0 time with is nonsensical too -- couldn't they just have kept Adam alive then? And maybe I don't know, make an arc of them getting over their differences and breakup and being the stronger for it in the end? Instead, all we got for Shiro was further receding into the sidelines and, like you said, the less impactful life goal of the whole team (without even the gratification of having rooted for this couple to get their happily ever after). He was my other favourite character beside Lotor and Allura and...yeah, I just got wrecked on all sides by this ending it seems xD. As for Lance's Altean marks, yeah, that looked taken straight out of fanfiction realm to me as well, it was...so random. I'm not sure where the real fault lies -- writers, execs, Dreamworks, fandom...I just know this show could have been so much more. And even if I think they belong together, I would have been fine without Lotura, I really would have -- if only they didn't toss characterization and plot coherence out of the window as well.

THIS WAS JUST AMAZING!!! first off, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when I saw this in my subs, I'm like she's back!!!and then secondly, HOW DO YOU DO THAT? how do you captivate me with your amazing videos and even when I don't know the fandom I was entranced and was captivated with the scenes and the characters and what a beautiful fandom it's gorgeous!!! the voiceovers worked so well to the song and you captured the storyline of the characters perfectly! WELL DONE!

Wow, I don't even know where to start? You know how I feel about them but they have such an interesting story and connection, and you captured that so well! I can see all the layers of them as characters and their relationship in this video so clearly. It's such an interesting exploration of them and it shows so clearly how you feel about them. In fact, I can see everything you wrote in our meta convos in here, which just goes to show how absolutely amazing this video is! It is an essay on its own and makes it argument so well. I really love all the parallels you used and how you tied their story to the history between their fathers. Honestly, I love every second of this and I am in awe of your talent!
