The Heljan 57's at the current bargain prices are a very good buy, I have Penndenis Castle which I run with a complete rake of the newer MK3's in FGW livery all acquired at another bargain prices, just bought another 57, Totnes Castle, which was still on sale at GBP99.95, I installed a HM7000 decoder. as no profile for the 57, I used the 67's (a suggestion from a TH-camr). Great intro to the year, like the layout changes, the Saint is one worth pre-ordering, although I haven't decided for sure, as the Blue Funnel Merchant Navy is also tempting me, . ...Drew
Great see you got update on your channel thanks for sharing the layout looks great lot Great things on layout thanks for sharing update on your channel
Looking forward to seeing what you are up to this year. I have noticed a new version of steam in lights is touring the UK preserved railways called the Boogie Express. I mentioned it to my mom and she actually wants to go on it so i am booking it for when its at the Severn Valley Railway. I think someone needs to model a steam in lights style train for the fun of it on a layout.
Hi Matt. Welcome to 2025! I too took advantage of Rails' bargain Heljan 57 sale and snapped up Penndenis Castle. Was also tempted by the LSL livered version - and by Restormel Castle, which was at an astonishingly low price - but had to be sensible. I'm very happy with it. To be honest, all 7 of my Heljan locos are smooth, quiet and powerful runners. The version you have has recently been named. Will you be doing likewise with yours? That backdrop looks rather like York. I pre-ordered the Hornby GER-livered Y14/J15, becusse they used to chug along the erstwhile Waveney Valley Line that used to run through the East Anglian town in which I now live, as well as the loco Hornby chose to model being still with us at the North Norfolk Railway, which is just about an hour north of me. Oh, and because it's a damn pretty loco. Thanks for the layout tour. Looking forward to sharing your further adventures in the forthcoming year.
Interesting layout update there as for the pond on the heritage line how about a garden any plans for access from the road down to heritage line and it'd be nice for an update on that black 5 locomotive soon plus the locomotive services class 57 is quite a nice runner.
Fantastic work Matt love the main line connection to the Clifton Valley Railway maybe The Black 5 you got can do some main line work with the LSL mk1s and do a Steam Dreams Excursion on the layout namely the Cathedrals Express returns to Jubilee Road and the Clifton Valley Railway
The Hornby 2025 range has me truly excited for stuff for the first time since 2020. Hoping to get a Lady of Legend and maybe try a railroad Cucumber. And of course, various wagons and such. If I can find an excuse to to have some tavern coaches....
Great video overall Matt, for hornbys 2025 range I have currently got one item on order and it’s the Bulleid Tavern coach pack in crimson and cream but some other ones I will likely get are the Caprotti black 5, I might get the B17/5 City of London as I already have East Anglian which was released last year and it’s quite a nice model, I will certainly be interested in seeing the railroad 800s but not sure if I will get one, to start of with on hornbys recent Q and A video for the range they did talk about it and what it will and won’t have and to put it simple it won’t have a lot of the things that the premium ones will have, for example it won’t have interiors in the coaches, the duel bogie drive won’t be in it and the lighting package is very simple, basically it will be like the old blue rapier train set class 395 models from the sound s of it, now to be fair it is railroad but I just don’t see why people have issues paying for the premium ones these days as it’s the reality some people are going to have to start accepting if they want to have models of multiple units plus there are ways of paying where your not spending the amount they cost all at once, also you get the full train for the 800 units all in one box, I have one of the very first release GWR ones. I have had a great start to 2025, first off I have finally had my KR models Bulleid Leader arrive and it’s a fantastic model in my opinion, yesterday I was at rails of Sheffield for their heljan takeover event and got to see some of their upcoming models and they have some great stuff coming up, also I have added a heljan class 86 to my fleet, in a few weeks time I will hopefully be attending my first show this year which is the Doncaster BRM show, great video overall keep up the great work.
Steer clear of Heljan, they are letting us down very badly. Their models are willing to work at first, but a few days later, they give up the ghost and won't run at all. Bet you that stinky diesel fails you after a few days. Stick to Dapol, Accurascale and Bachmann. Rapido are doing us proud as well. I've got a model steamy of Rapido status: a Hunslet 0-6-0 saddle tank engine with a very bright firebox glow. Her name was Thorne No. 1, but she didn't like it and asked me to rename her. I've renamed her Becky. Becky runs like a dream straight out of the box. Hornby aren't doing quite so well. They are announcing more new models than getting them released. This has led them to cancel many new models set to be released in months gone by. Hope you won't be waiting too long for Lady of Legend, she is beautiful and she is a real new-build engine.

Nice update, Matt. Another full plate for 2025... but it will all play out with surprises and changes! Nice to see the layout!
Yeah another busy year on the way

I wanted the LSL black 57 to go with my set of mk1s really looks the part with them
Looking forward to watching future videos, Matt 👍.
Thank you 😊

Yeah that's why I got the black 5 as I've got 9 mk1s to go with it and the class 57

Yeah much bigger range than the last couple of years

I do like the look of the tavern coaches. Don't know if I'll get any though. Got a few orders with others to go to be careful with the money
Your looking at Bristol Cathedral, with the Wills Memorial building behind it. The tower on the left is the Cabot Tower.
Ow ok thank you 😊
Do you use 2 controllers on the same layout at the same time for different locos
No I changed the controller depending on what I'm running
The back scenic is Bristol
Thank you Jack 😊
Someone is gonna be busy……. 👍 Colin.
Haha yeah just a bit
New scale? Guests? I wonder what's going on there!
Coming soon 😁
Skyline is bristol
Thank you 😊
Lincoln?
I've been told it's actually Bristol

I must be a lucky chap, as all my 7 Heljan locos are very good runners.
Dude literally do you have anything better to do than tell him what to run and what he can’t if you don’t like it get stuffed you absolut turkey
