    That's a lovely country scene to just watch the trains go by, it looks great. I tried and failed with the seafoam, your trees are very impressive.
    A couple of suggestions from my humble experience. Maybe add a fence between the tracks and the stream to add a little more interest and variety from the stone walls. I discovered Tasma Products or TP for adding detailed plants to my country scenes - its a very easy way to add some very effective interest. They're a little pricey at full RRP but are often discounted on ebay,

      Thanks for those kind words, I'm glad you like the scenery and trees. The trees took a while to make, but well worth it because they are a good size and in my opinion they so much better than the ones you buy. I know exactly what you mean about the fence alongside the track, but I wasn't sure if the stream would stop people and animals getting to the tracks? I've got to buy fence anyway so I'll offer it up and see how it looks. I'll look up those products, so thanks for that. Also thanks for watching too. Best regards, Lee

    Great video mate. In the hunt couplings, I use the Hornby produced magnetic couplings. They come with the Mk3s but are available separately. My East Midlands set just flows around the layout.
    Cheers 👍

      Yeah someone else said they come with the mk3 coaches. I'll have to have a look because id be happy with the hornby ones. Knowing me they're probably sitting in the boxes and I haven't seen them. Thanks for watching and commenting. Lee

    'Owdo Lee. Only just got the electric back on so didn't see this any sooner.
    The country scene is looking really good. Love the placement of the tree behind the field barn, very real life. I don't think that type of landscape calls for many more trees or even bushes, it seems too 'upland' for that, but if you do put some at the back try making them more windswept for a bit of variety. Also a bridge up there would look wrong, like the ex-road bridge it would be pointless.
    The stream is a great idea well executed and the N gauge tunnel mouth looks brilliant. Extending the scene in front of the stream, even a few inches, would certainly be good especially with the quality of landscaping you're doing.

      Hello Ozzy, how are you? It's funny because everytime I post a video, I always look forward to hearing from you because you've supported me for a long time. What happened to the electric? Was it a power cut?
      I don't really know what to say about your comment because I totally agree with everything you just said. I'm glad you mentioned the positioning of the tree behind the field barn because I was actually really chuffed with that myself and I knew I'd got it right. Yeah deffo no bridge, it'll be too much of an eye catcher and look forced, and as the great Alan Watts once quoted "force nothing. To force something is to make it unnatural". As for the trees, I also agree that too many would ruin the look of the scene I was going for, so I'll keep them minimal, but enough to hide the back as best I can without going mental. Glad you liked the stream, although it wasn't dry in the video, so still cloudy, but I'm gonna get up in loft later to see if needs more gear poured into it. As you know Ozzy, I don't do too many videos and won't do one unless I've got something to share, but when I do, you're always there mate, so thank you. Best regards as always from a cold wet and rainy east London. Lee

    Hi Lee, firstly wow! The country scene looks brilliant especially with the trains running through I bet you’re well chuffed! Isn’t it annoying having to go back and correct something, it made me chuckle, not at your mistake with the track, but because it’s something I would do. I just can’t wait to get on with the next bit and race off without thinking! It’s bloody annoying but you’ve done a great job sorting the track out, the ballasting really does look the business.
    I think you’ve done the right thing taking out the road tunnel and putting the stream in, bet you can’t wait to have a go with the Mod Podge and get those ripples in! I can’t wait to do stuff like that! Good idea to use the N Gauge tunnel mouth too.
    The trees look superb, I agree about the seafoam the WWS stuff isn’t anywhere near as good as the Noch. It’s how I’m going to do my trees Lee using the armatures and seafoam.
    The grass looks great too, not overdone with static grass, I don’t think I’m really going to use a lot of static grass on my layout. Being N Gauge there maybe a bit but I think it’ll look good just using the Woodland scenics ground cover.
    All in all a terrific update and I’m looking forward to the next episode and perhaps meeting up soon, cheers for now mate, John

    • @leewhall2504
      @leewhall2504  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      John, you of all people know how painful that was mate, ripping it all up, but like said, I got too excited and raced off without checking the essentials. Glad you like the outcome (ballasting) etc, especially after the destruction! John you read me like a book mate, yes, I can't wait to get the ole modgepodge out and start rippling, I looking forward to that part before I even started making the stream! Lol. Glad you agree with the road tunnel going, I know you was in big favour of a water scene because mentioned the large pond/lake in the previous video. My viewer from the last vid, really hit the nail on the head with suggesting the use of an N gauge tunnel mouth for the stream, I'm so pleased with it, and because its n gauge it looks more realistic. Yeah John making the trees the way I have is time consuming, but so worth it mate, decent trees to buy are so expensive and doing it with armatures, gives those lovely large realistic sized trees, but you also get the bonus of gifting yourself with hot glue burns too. John we will defo meet up soon mate, your only up the road from me, and we'll have a beer. Thanks as always John. Lee

    Hi Lee great layout and explanation of what you've done. I think the scenery is great and the sheep always keep the grass cut short so that definitely looks right. Great to see big trees more realistic size. Only just come across your layout channel and have I subscribed. I'm building my layout in the loft too. Just got it habitable and insulated with the boards up. How big is your layout. Well done, will follow with interest.

      Hi there thanks for subscribing and your kind words, means a lot. Yeah the grass would be short from the sheep, and totally agree that it looks nice. Still got some shrubs to add, but I don't want to over do it. The trees, although time consuming are definitely worth doing because like said, they are realistic size, and buy decent trees works out so expensive. I can't remember the size of the layout, its roughly 14ft long, 12ft wide and 2ft deep (I think). Good luck with your new build, you'll have to message me your youtube channel name if you do one so I can follow you. All the best, Lee

    Hi Lee- Good work on sorting the track out !! The country scene really looks good and yes the stream is an improvement . You could have some people fishing too. I really like those trees , I have some seafoam so will get the armatures and have a go , I agree do not go for the bridge as the low down shot might be spoilt.

    Hi Lee , nice update from your layout . I have a HST set with the old D type couplings which are ok for running but I recently bought a restaurant car with small NEM couplings , this does have issues when being reversed into a siding and derails simply because of the difference with the couplings . I don't think it will be an easy fix to fit Hunt couplings on the older ones ............Peter

      Morning Peter, glad you enjoyed the update. I also have an old hst full set with the D couplings and it runs fine, but probably because like you said, they are all the same. Those old hst set are great, you can do so much with them. I did a video a few years back named 'is this exceptible fot the oo gauge layout' and you'll probably enjoy that because I take the old hst and fit a cd motor and really facelift it looks. Thanks for watching Peter and your comment, much appreciated. Lee

    Greetings again from the Antipodes Lee. I think the rural scene is coming along nicely. Experimenting with different materials and techniques until you are happy with the results and confident in your ability is the best way to progress. The stream looks pretty good and no doubt you’ll tweak it over time just as you have other features. I’ve seen Lou’s of different uses of resin to provide water features and not just by rail modellers. Nearly all at some stage have problems with leaking and or bubbling etc problems. One interesting alternative that avoids this is to paint directly onto the base. Have a look at Boomer Dioramas for the method and materials. It doesn’t provide a way to show much “subsurface” detail like fish but it has its own advantages and can be relatively easily reworked and tweaked.
    Great to see what you’ve been up to. As I’ve said before I don’t need frequent updates to appreciate your work and it would only slow you down to report every change immediately. Your a busy fellow and you can wait till you retire before you indulge in daily updates‼️😉😂😂 BTW ❤ the brown dog 🐕
    Regards Ian

      @leewhall2504  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Lol! What a great message, thanks Ian and not just for this, but all the support you give me as a frequent viewer. Yeah, the resin was a pain, but I think the 3rd pour might actually nail it because I think the other 2 pours sealed it up, if that makes sense. Thanks for your patience and understanding with regard to my video frequency, I don't want to do videos for money, I just like to share it with people like yourself and comments like yours, make it all worth it, so thanks again Ian. Thanks for the kind comment about my dog, he's Kye, my XL Bully (big dougnut) lol. Take care Ian, Lee

      Hello Al, hope your keeping well mate. Yeah, I've done all the buildings on the countryside scene in bachmann resin because all that scratch buildimg in paper and card is all very well, but it breaks your heart when they get destroyed and not expensive, but it's all that time put into doing it, so thats why I'm looking at painfully rebuilding upminster in plastic. love the stream, with roads I like them country style, single track with passing places. Regarding the higher section and road, you have options to create a scenic area for walkers etc. Bridge across the track, again I'd go for a countryside option, barrow crossing with a path across the hillside .

      Yeah, I quite like those ideas, keeps it very countryside too. I'm totally with you, prefer single track roads if I were to have any sort of road. Yeah funny enough I considered weathering, it would be the easy option too, but there's just so much damage done, that the weathering might look over the top. I think it's going to be a re-wrap and this time matt varnish to protect it. The signal box has damage too but I reckon weathering will cover it as it's not too much. Thanks again Lee

    Allan from Dragon Junction suffered from attacks by wood-lice on his card buildings and he used varnish which solved it for him. I like the stream, looks great, but the bridge idea could be a bridge too far :) Less is more and I think you have got the balance just right. A walk way across the tracks, just to the right of the house on the hill might look good, even if it only goes to the steam... :)

You've gave an idea, do you think that because the weather will be changing soon (here in the uk), if I were to get some decent soil in a pot, and place it on the window ledge (south facing so plenty of sun), do you reckon it'll grow? It'll be kept indoors? Just curious?

      Yeah, it's a good point, hopefully it won't pass on the skinny genes if like. Also, I'm wondering if like most plants, male and female are different? In which case, plant a Noch version and a wws version in different pots? Might be worth it. What is your youtube channel?

      I couldn't imagine ripping the track again and doing all that ballasting and weathering. I do really like the peco 75 concrete sleeper track, but I thought keeping to the normal, means the countryside scene is era free, if that makes sense. So it doesn't look out of place with steam or diesel. Thanks for the suggestion and also for watching l. Best regards Lee
