Agreed 👊🏾✊🏽. When I was in high school, Billy Idol hit the scene like a sledgehammer against the biggest artists. Us young guys were all into guitar players and this guy was definitely underrated. This solo was mesmerizing. Astonishing that more people don’t rave about him. I even heard a little Roy Clark homage in there. Fantastic player

Steve also played the instrumental theme song on the movieTop Gun, and he Played guitar on Dirty Diana with Michael Jackson. Steve also played with Vince Neil for a while, and had his own solo albums. Steve Stevens also greatly admires the guitar virtuoso that passed away today. None other than Eddie Van Halen.

Obviously by the so called unlikes , what a miss out . If you are truly a musician at heart if not actually one yourself , then you’ll never understand the meaning of just tunes without words . Also all hard working efforts from band members who do not get the recognition that they do well deserve most of the time . I've been a fan of Steve Stevens ever since the beginning of the Billy Idol band. I've always believed that he is one of the most underestimated guitarists of all time. He didn't even make it in Rolling Stone's top 250 guitarists list. A real shame he was overlooked because he is easily in the top 100!

Absolute mastery of a rich and multi-cultural musicality and instrument. What he can do with his synth-guitar is breathtaking but it is the emotion that prevails. The public spends a moment floating above space-time ! A great master that all and any guitarist should listen to.
Yes he can shred with the best of them ...but the best thing about SS is his musicality and ability to come up with killer, epic, guitar parts that make the song in many ways. He’s a Legend!

@rollin stoned and wildcatter63 what gets me is how many people actually go by polls, then argue that the poll is evidence of some opinion being facts. Peoples opinions are based purely on ignorance. Nobody can claim one player is better than another, because they never sat down in a room with the players they are comparing and observed a live demonstration by each player based on their skills. The truth is Steve stevens and many other great players that do not have the credit they deserve are better players than any of their own best performances because they never stop improving everyday.
The way I see it is nobody is equal, nobody is better, there are great players and they are all great for not being equal to anyone but rather for being who they are. No two should ever be the same. It is a fools job to rank them in any sort of order, class or category. great is great period. lets accept that and enjoy the greatness each has to offer.

was checking out some billy idol videos, steve stevens interviews. When this video for SOLO came up at Hamburg show, i was expecting some wild , electric, whammy bar effects guitar solo. I was blown away ....on a classical guitar!! This is so cool.

I never realized how good he was till I saw him play at the Live Aid show in Philly. They played The Beatles Revolution and Steve just tore it UP!
