I've reached the magnum opus of collecting. I've got more games then I can play in 10 lifetimes. When I go to retro stores or game hunting I'm not coming across anything I want. I'm priced out of the market on the few games that I do want. It's just not worth it to me. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy what I have.

I have a similar feeling. And with developers focusing on remakes there isn’t a strong need to buy new games either.

Exactly the same situation for me. I’ve got everything I want, and I got the super expensive ones on a multicart. I’m set.

Tell me about it. When PS1 games were ALL under $5 I got almost everyone I could find just for the fondness of that system, then the "market" appeared out of thin air and the prices started to get crazy, stopped finding them and now done. Thinking of going back to school and sort of want to get rid of all the pricier items now, but I feel like who is buying that stuff at those prices, who is buying a $500 CIB steel battalion set I paid $50bucks for? ...but hit me up if that's you 😂😂😂

I really hope the game room tours don't go away, I just want them to be better. When I watch a grt, I don't care about the gaming plushies you've acquired, I want to see how you've set up your game room. I get ideas from others that way and it has influenced my own game room. For example, i found out about media shelves which take up a lot less space than book shelves, and the 16 port hdmi switch that I never knew about has changed my setup substantially. I'll always love watching those videos as long as I'm involved in this hobby. I think the problem comes from people that just want to show off there stuff, they don't realize no one cares.

I built my $20K+ game collection on mostly finding stuff at thrift stores, FB Marketplace, Yard Sales, Gamestop/Entertainmart, and conventions for the most part. I also occasionally buy from game stores, but usually with trade credit from things I don't want, or controllers I repair.

Love it when I find genuine video game content creators and your consistency and subject matter are very refreshing amongst all of the attention seeking channels out there. Congratulations on your channel's growth and looking forward to the next upload!

I spent a good chunk of time and money buying PS2/Xbox games and tried collecting GameCube games but those were always hard to find, I still have hundreds of games and have no plans on liquidating my games anytime soon.

I agree so much about game tour videos. If I may add, I’m not a fan of videos where the TH-camr opens their mail and does a show and tell of all the games their subs have sent. I appreciate the videos you do that are off the cuff and you talk about a topic.

I like KodywithaK because he has an actual goal with his challenge.(To get 10,000 dollars of value) A lot of these 5 or 10 dollar game collections don’t really have a clear goal of what they want to get or accomplish.

Phoenix Resale was never really interested in collecting video games. The whole GameCube Gambit was just a front to gain views. If you watch his older videos, you will see that he frequently said he was never a "GameCube guy", he just played into people's nostalgia for views. The interviews he is doing is about building networks he can source, sell to, nothing more, nothing less. He was always about growing his business, profit margin. Riff from Pixel Game Squad has gone on record saying that Caleb is calculated, he knows what he wants to get out of his videos. So, there you have it. Phoenix Resale is not someone who you should look up to, because he only has his own self interests on his agenda.

Have you ever seen a video by Kody that tells you he’s actually a gamer and not just a flipper? Dude sold his whole collection at the end of the last season lmao.

Kody with a k is trash. He is local to me and has multiple Facebook accounts with different names and just tries to take advantage of people by trading ps5’s lol our city is all resellers and almost no collectors so that’s why he has to go extreme. You can make a deal with someone and then people like Kody will come along and try to snake the deal by offering more or telling the person it’s worth more.

I agree most will but I’ve made a connection with my son with NES and SNES and believe he’ll keep a lot of my collection not all of my collection but I think he’ll keep a big chunk

I see what you mean man but honestly I think most collectors aren’t watching the only reseller retro game hunters who don’t collect and for the most part watch the videos where it’s collectors who find great deals for the collection like the game chasers so I don’t think it will die but I think it will start to die with the reseller game chasing Channels and if it stays it will stay with most facebook pickups and not thrift stores garage sales or flee markets

I agree most retro videos just don't do it for me anymore. I used to love Metal Jesus, but there are only so many hidden gem videos you can watch before you know just about every game. You'd have to bring up some extremely obscure title to show me something new. You're right about charisma too. I'd watch KodywithaK bake a cake if he did it with the same style and personality as his collection challenge. My primary gaming channels at this point are Spawnwave and maybe Asmongold.

Collecting goal videos are nonsensical now, everything in the wild has dried up so you're basically just having to pay up at conventions or on Ebay. Hunting for like a complete NES collection is not going to happen. You can still FIND great deals hunting but it won't be the certain games in particular you were going for.
