Yea getting hurt in the Woodyard is a challenge for any of us. Even with all the safety gead and thinking. It only takes the moment in lapse of judgment, and we are in trouble.😉👍

Awesome to see an elderly man in action still! But I see some major issue possibilities in this video! First one is you having your back to a pile that could let loose at anytime while being cut on, second is the pinch point your creating! If you pile does let go and come down there’s a chance your pops may not make it to the end before getting pinned !

@@NockOn1 he has all the ppe I've ever seen him wear on. He doesn't do chaps or hard hats. Not saying it's right but with almost 50 years experience I don't think I'll be changing the way he does things. I wear all my gear when cutting and think it's an excellent thing to do.

Hopefully you have learned not to undercut and release the log pile onto you. Cutting into a standing log pile will eventually catch up to you. You need to send logs off from the end with a cant hook. At least 1 buffer log behind you would offer some protection. Working with your back to the pile is a disaster waiting to happen. Good luck going forward. 👍

Watching how you do things might I suggest your going to need a new wood yard sooner then later.. your gunna need a place to dry and store all that bagged firewood.. go big or go home.. or in your case, go big at home.. PS... tell gramps " for God's sake be careful"..

We don't have machinery in our operation we have years of cutting like this. The video was to show what can happen and the things to look for. We watch and roll logs down with peaveys as we can. This load was piled higher than normal and the driver has been asked to keep all new loads piled up no more then 4 feet tall. We have cut out of log truck loads our whole lives. 2-3 full loads per week. It can be dangerous so you need to keep alert and pay attention for sure.we appreciate you stopping by and your input

If you are doing this much wood, get yourself a 5 ton excavator with a thumb. Safer and easier on the back with no bending.
