This is the Everse 8 and I love this speaker so much, I’m ditching my old battery powered setup. This has so many smart designs features about it, and I’m going to go over it to see if it’s right for huge. Huge thanks to Sweetwater for sponsoring and sending me this for the channel.

    On the subject of "We're just going to hope for the best"… I was playing on a cruise ship (private cruise) a long time ago, and they'd set up a giant party for the last night on the back deck. Rain kept looking more and more likely, and we could see giant thunderheads on the horizon. The crew kept saying, "Cap'n says it's not going to rain" and they were trying to convince us to set up. I finally had to be the "bad guy" and said no. My band members looked at me as if I'd really screwed the pooch… and then thirty minutes later, the deluge was unbelievable. WHEW!

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yup! Someone has to be the “bad guy” in those situations. Our other guitar player had to do that at one show where they just refused to have us covered. We could literally hear the thunder as they were talking. The lady wouldn’t even look at us the rest of the night she was so furious.
      My favorite was “if there is ANY chance of rain we will move inside.” It absolutely monsoons (this was in Wyoming), and afterwards she goes “well it’s done now right? So you can setup?” Luckily there was another production crew (who I helped tarp everything) and I just had my IEM rack and stuff like that. There were literally power outlets upside down in puddles all over the stage. She still wouldn’t move it inside lol. It’s insanely frustrating. Always have insurance on your gear and do not be afraid to be the “bad guy”

    • @Mooseboy08
      @Mooseboy08 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ScottUhlMusic Hah! Another quick "rain's coming!" story: About two years ago, we were playing outside, facing west (I'm in Nebraska). We were watching the radar and seeing a big storm headed our way. The giant thunderheads started looming on the horizon, with big flashes of lighting. The audience, with their backs to it, didn't see it.
      At the end of our second set, we said, "Well, we'd better skip that last set and get out of here!" There were quite a few "Boo!'s". Then we said, "Turn around and look behind you…" The audience was gone inside of ten minutes. We luckily got our gear torn down and packed away just before all hell broke loose.

    Watched this as a very, very happy owner of the Everse 8 (for acoustic solo and duo performances using an extra pedalboard for guitar plus extra channels such as stompbox and BeatBuddy via a StompMix 4 mini mixer). It‘s every bit as brilliant as you point out, and I say that coming from the Bose S1 Pro, which I‘ve enjoyed using for many years. The Everse 8, however, is in an entirely different league. It reaches deeper down in frequency, has a much more transparent and authentic treble region (which tends to be comparatively a bit harsh without EQ, but it has plenty of EQ options to tame that), and it offers tons more control over every parameters, plus compression and built-in reverb you can actual tweak. There is no reason at all to get a Bose S1 Pro anymore, unless of course you prefer its Bose signature sound, which is warm and a bit muffled by comparison, or like its slightly smaller form factor better. I‘ll probably still hold onto my Bose just as an extra floor wedge, or to expand my one-speaker Everse E8 setup if and when needed. I figure it won‘t net me much cash if I try to sell it nowadays, especially since the retail price has plummeted since the release of the Everse 8. P.S.: The clarity of the Everse reminds me a lot of my old Mackie SRM 450 powered speakers (the ones that used to have the Italian chassis built in, before Mackie started to use the Chinese ones): Very transparent and true-to-life with just a wee bit of EQing. I found I can once again use my higher-end mics because you can actually hear there subtle differences - the ones that got lost on the Bose S1 Pro, with its tendency to press its (admittedly pleasant) sound signature on everything.

    Hey Scott! I follow you and keep up with all of your videos. I'm a big fan! However, this video was extra special. I'm an old guy but for the past few decades, I've been associated with EV as a designer and user via the rep firm I worked for. I, of course, have lots of EV gear and my main system is the Evolve 50. I reviewed the Everse 8 when EV released it and at that point, I figured they had another winner and as you and others have shown, they do! I just want to thank you for your review of this outstanding product and I hope your readers and subscribers really come to understand this product as it not only has great features but when one considers its SPL capabilities as a battery powered speaker, there simply is no comparison. I hope you may consider reviewing other EV products such as their mics and wireless products. I use the RE520, RE420, RE20 and the N/D 868. I also have their Zx1's and the rare SB2a subs. I would suggest looking at the RE3 wireless as it can broadcast uniquely via the 600Mhz band. Very handy! And FYI, because of your reviews, I am a Phenyx Pro and Stage Traxx 3 user! Thanks again Scott!

My 90s band I play in is the only show that I do not have to provide PA/sound for (when we need to bring sound) and my singer has an EV setup as well. We are huge fans, so I was extremely stoked to get to review this system. It’s so well designed, and I would love to review more in the future 🤘🤘

    Thanks for the review Scott. I'm currently using the LD Systems Maui 5 Go (column system similar to a Bose compact) paired with a Behringer Flow 8 mixer for my battery powered set up at weddings. The Maui's sound great and have plenty of headroom on recorded music but can break up a little if they are pushed in live music situations. I find this pretty common with other battery powered speakers I've used. How do you find the Everse 8? Can it handle live performances like a regular pa speaker? BTW "We're just going to hope for the best" - happens to me at weddings here in Australia all the time.

    Would you recommend using this speaker for a small band that uses the Berringer 18, and would you recommend getting 2? Currently I was eying up the Mackie Thrash 212 GO Battery-Powered. Usually with a band it’s better to get a bigger PA system. I use the EV evolve 50s for my band, and singer had the EV ZLK 15s and subwoofers. Those are better for bands. I use this one for speeches for weddings and for acoustic/solo/duo stuff. I’ve used it for my band, but it was a small room. It did work, but we also had a subwoofer and another speaker

    Nice presentation and information. I've enjoyed my pair of 8s for about 6 months. I do about 11 one hour shows and plug them in while performing the 12th show, rinse and repeat! I am interested to know this: I currently use a mixer to go L/R from my keyboard and L/R out of my mixer to each speaker *achieving stereo. I am able to put my mic in the mixer, thus it comes out of both speakers. I was wondering if I can use a wireless mic transmitter in to one 8 speaker and somehow get the mic out of both speakers? If so, I can also do (2) other transmitters from my keyboard into each speaker for stereo? I would hope this works, if so..would be amazing. I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS - they sound so good.

Chaotically, without a specific time interval. Hi Scott, your channel is great! I'm thinking about getting a couple of these Everse 8, but after some research about the stereo setup capabilities I'm having some trouble understanding, or maybe I found a bug in the DSP.
    I know you can only share the bluetooth signal when linking the speakers wirelessly, not the inputs, so I'm thinking about using the Mix Out with only the R signal and panning the inputs in the mixer mode (since in the Mix Out it gives you the option to send L+R, just L or just R), BUT in all the videos I've watched, including this one, the input menu doesn't show the PAN option. Neither in the speakers DSP nor in the app, so how are we supposed to use the Mix Out with L or R only if there's no option to pan the inputs?
    The manual says there is a PAN menu between the FX and Ducker, but it doesn't appear in any review video. Hope you can help!

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! You would control the L/R from your mixer. So my Behringer mixer sends a stereo out, so I would send the L output (or output 7) to the L speaker and the R output (or output 8) to my R speaker.

    • @robguevara7
      @robguevara7 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ScottUhlMusic thanks for replying! Yes, I know I can do that with an external mixer, but I'm talking about the Mixer mode in the Everse DSP. In your video, at 7:33 you show the Input 1 menu and you can see the FX and then the Ducker, when the manual says there should be a PAN option too. This is supposed to mean that the actual speaker you're working with is one stereo channel (of your "main out" in the internal mixer) and the Mix Out could be use as the other channel. That's why it gives you the option to send L or R or L+R.
      You actually showed the manual in the part of the Ducker. If you look at it again, the PAN menu section is right abover the Ducker one (I downloaded the manual 😅).
      I just wanna know if the PAN option is available somewhere else or if it's completely missing? If that's the case then Electrovoice needs to update the DSP.

The Bluetooth would not be used for live backing tracks or anything we don't use those, it would be used for break music without having to unplug the input from 3/4 that's why I was asking that part - again thanks for the quick response. Hope I explained my thoughts better on why I was wondering about this and if you have anything else to add feel free. Appreciate it take care 👍

    It's a great speaker. But for wedding ceremonies, it's not good for mission-critical. I need a knob for EQ to access quick. Can't be messing with a DSP when you need to adjust gain, EQ quickly.

    Hi! Happy New Year! I have a question of the century! From the category of "I want to know everything"))) Judging by the technical data, the JBL Eon One Compact battery (amplifier power 150 W, maximum volume level 112 dB) has a capacity of 6100 mAh × 14.8 volts = 90.28 wh = 12 at medium volume and 4 hours of operation at maximum volume compared to Everse 8 (amplifier power 400 W (volume maximum level 121 dB) - capacity 6000 mAh × 14.4 volts = 86.4 Wh = 12 and 6 hours of operation. Why does the Everse 8 have the same duration of operation at medium volume and a longer maximum operating time with 2.6 times more amplifier power and less battery charge??? According to the technical specifications comparing the power of amplifiers and batteries, the duration of operation of the Everse 8 should be less. Or am I wrong, mathematics and physics don't work here. Then how is this possible?

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s above my pay grade haha. I just know that it survived more than a 4 hour set with the volume very loud and it still had a lot more to go. I haven’t had issues with battery life with this system

    Hello. How long does the battery actually last? and not according to the manufacturer's advertisements for 6 and 12 o'clock. Have you checked? There is a strong suspicion that the 86.4 Wh power consumed by the Everse 8 battery is not enough for as many hours as it is written in the instructions.

      I think it means whether it is possible to sing into a microphone and play guitar with backing tracks. Yes, you can. This is what it is designed for, to make the most of the speaker system. The main question here is how long the battery will run continuously until it runs out. Personally, it bothers me. Because in this mode, when all three channels are working, 100% of the battery charge lasts for 2.5 hours at high volume. I played outside three times, microphone, guitar, backing tracks. Found out.
