    The best part of the Everse for me is using the App. I find it incredible useful being able to mute and EQ channels wirelessly from the EV app. Especially when it comes to bride and grooms EQ with the mic and muting channels. Its so easy to send the mic up hot and not have to worry about the bride/groom/officiant having to fumble with the mic of lapel receiver AND not being forced to stand by the receiver to press play on a song or adjust levels or EQ on the speaker.

    Rachel, I appreciate your videos so much. You go in depth where others will not. I am a firm believer and patron to EV systems, but this one takes the cake. I have been using different speakers starting with the Behringer MPA40 Pro and a Moukey. Although they have great features themselves they just do not give me the sound that I'm wanting my clients for their ceremonies that I expect. I know I am not on the level as you are as a professional wedding DJ, but with proper information it helps me evaluate what I need to get to the next level in today's market and be more competitive. I have found that my 37 years of experience as a wedding DJ they has trouble keeping up with the newer guys and what they offer. Keep up the great work and thanks again for all that you do in the DJ community. 😊

      Thank you so much for your time to check this out. I really try and create videos that I would want to see when making a purchase, especially since we as mobile DJs have so many choices out there.
      I just returned from Harvest of Sound in Boston and was able to hear the EVERSE 8 amongst several other battery powered options and I can unequivocally say it blew all other away. People were very pleased with its performance and sound profile.
      Definitely a GREAT move if you’re in need of a battery powered speaker. 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by the channel.

    Great review. I've been a big EV fan since the 80s. I have enjoyed massive EV concert stacks and many very impressive EV nightclub setups over the years. I am now a happy owner of a pair of Evolve 50s and I just ordered the Everse 8. Thank you for keeping me up to date with EV products, they always sound amazing.

    Thanks for being the first and only video on this product that has a sound demo! We don't need 20 videos going through the specs of a product like this if it doesn't sound better or match the competition. It's as though most companies don't realise what the consumers need to know before making a purchase like this. Would be lovely if we could hear how hard it can be pushed before clipping / farting and how far the sound projects with a decibel meter!

    • @DJRachelLynch
      @DJRachelLynch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I understand why it’s hard to do this and why some didn’t bother with a sound test. Things don’t always translate well through a phone. I played it at max dB one click below limiting. I hope the clarity of this top translated in this video. It’s a great sounding top but it can be challenging to capture accurately in a recording.
      Speaker specs matter. Sound is also very personal so someone may hate the sound of this while others will love it. I tried my best. Thank you so much for your time to stop by the channel and check it out. 🙂 I appreciate you being here.

    Rach, luv ya girl and appreciate all your hard work and dedication to helping the industry! Wanted to share some info regarding the Mackie Thump Go! First, I'm an EV loyalist and have been for a hot minute! I've got 18 ETX subs, 18 EKX subs, 15 ETX, 12 EKX tops, 3 Evolve 50s, and RE20 broadcast mics! Although the Mackie Thump Go may not provide the same amount of extra utility as the Everse, I do believe it belongs in the discussion with the other three, especially the JBL Ion! It's got an 8in woofer and a 1in compression driver, it puts out an impressive 115db SPL, ,a fairly nice feedback eliminator, Bluetooth, and one hell of a battery! EV got in the game late, so I went with the Mackie Thump Go a few years back and it's been fantastic! I'll add the Everse in white but I just wanted to happily share this feedback with you! Stay beautiful!🫶🫶

    Ok I' not here to blow smoke up .....yeah exactly. I'm also not sure where to start. I'm used to watch about a thousand videos everytime I'm in the market for something...sometimes even too many. There are literally thousands of reviews out there, don't need to tell you. Some meh, some awful some good...and then yours.
    This one came in a category I haven't seen yet. It's like I gave you a script of what I was looking for in terms of specs and comparison and you did it :) YEah including the S1 pro which I had and sold and almost bought back until I realized the Everse was out...and that was 24 hours ago.
    This is BY FAR the best review I have seen in over a decade of TH-cam. I was a content creator before it was a thing and my channel was closed for copyright infringement for a couple of covers (Amongst 600 uploaded videos) which is hilarious if you consider how many covers are out there :) Anyway not here to talk about me. Thank you VERY much for your video and the previous one that brought me here (the wedding you did end of last year).
    I was a DJ in Italy (I'm italian now in CT) for over 2 decades and stopped when I came here (Although I still upload on mixcloud) and the passion you put in what you're doing almost made me want to go back in the circus again....yeah although I'm not 20 anymore LOL
    Thank you Rachel. Outstanding review and great performer. Hope to be able to see you at one of your shows.
    Right now I'm busy I need to buy two of these damn speakers...since (that's another question that Bosch wasn't able to answer btw) you cleared that they DO connect in TWS :)
    Outstanding :)

    First off… I am a HUGE EV fan. I had the JBL EON One Compact and sold them to buy the Mackie Thunp Go’s because I HATED the knobs on the JBL’s. I hated that they didn’t terminate. So you couldn’t adjust the volume unless you were looking at them. I bought the Thump Go’s before the Everse 8 came out. But what I wanted to say is that as you said the Mackie isn’t in the same class… BUUUuuuut, For the money the Thump Go is an amazing speaker. They really sound good and are built amazing. Why did i sell them to buy the Everse 8’s then???Because 1. am an EV fanboy… and 2. dont judge me but…. I HATED the green color on the thumps. Loving your vids. Keep up the good work.

    • @DJRachelLynch
      @DJRachelLynch  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! The green knobs are the main reason I sold my JBL. I HATED them. Couldn’t see it in bright sunlight when using it out doors and they seemed gimmicky and cheap. Wasn’t a terrible speaker, but didn’t love it.
      Don’t get me wrong, the Mackie for the price is solid, but it’s definitely not in the same class as the EVERSE. I’ve heard both side by side. The Mackie doesn’t have the output the EVERSE does. Nothing wrong with it. There is a speaker and price point for everyone. Thanks for your time to check this out.

      I too own an S1 Pro, 4 years old and like new, very little used. But if I trade it in for the EV Everse8, I'd likely have to shell out $300 or so. Just not worth it, as all we do with the S1 Pro is to have karaoke party fun now and then. The S1 Pro is now $700 as compared to $600 when I bought it in 2018.

    Great review! I REALLY like the EV8. However, I bought a pair of S1 Pro+ for $300 less. Bose is less powerful, but they upgraded the third channel input from 3.5mm to 1/4”, so I can plug another instrument directly in…game changer for live musician! Also, the new, built-in wireless system is more elegant than strapping another box to your speaker. Honestly, I almost bought a single S1 Pro+ for busking and a pair of EV8’s for larger events; but, I got a discount deal to buy 2 S1 Pro+.

    • @DJRachelLynch
      @DJRachelLynch  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So glad you found something you love! Bose definitely did a nice upgrade to their older S1 version with the pro plus version.
      There are a few features that the EVERSE 8 has that warrant the additional cost, like weatherproofing, the ability to power a professional mic base, onboard DSP, power/charge an additional tablet or device, etc. To clarify, it also has combo input/high Z so you can plug in an instrument directly too.
      I believe if you get the added Bose S1 Pro+ Wireless Mic/Line Transmitter - XLR, it’s $848. An EVERSE 8 is only $749.00. The difference is with the added Sennheiser packs I had to buy and now I use for wireless transmission, it extends the range and reliability SIGNIFICANTLY more than the Bose transmitter. When you need wireless to work, it’s best to buy once cry once IMO. Unfortunately reliable wireless is expensive.
      Sounds like you got a killer deal! Enjoy your new speaker and have a rockin' 2024! Thanks for your time to check this out! ☺️

    Hey nice video! I just just auditioned the Everse 8 and the JBL EON 1 Compact. While using onboard EQ on the JBL, I could make it sound acceptable, the EV flat just sounded better and had a lot more headroom so I agree with your assessment. The JBL is currently $629 and the EV $749. At $120 difference, I feel the Everse is really worth the upspend.

    • @DJRachelLynch
      @DJRachelLynch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for checking this out. I appreciate your time and your comment a lot! Your assessment is SPOT on! It’s fantastic feedback.
      Back in December I went to a DJ conference called “Harvest Of Sound” where we did a speaker shootout with a lot of the major brands and popular tops. Literally did a side by side comparison with music and some other nerdy stuff.
      Specifically, we had a battery powered speaker shootout and compared the JBL EON Compact, Bose S1, EVERSE 8, Mackie Thump, and Maui. As part of the side by side, we did a “pink noise” test to assess the frequency response of each top. They all were run flat, meaning no EQ enhancements or DSP altering.
      What you said is EXACTLY what the results determined. The EVERSE was the loudest and most “flat” meaning it had the best clarity and natural sound without needing to do anything to the top. It’s a FANTASTIC speaker for its size and offers a lot for the price jump as you said.
      Thanks again for stopping by the channel.

      The reason the EVERSE is significantly hire is because it is a MUCH better speaker. As reflected in the price and specs. The Mackie Thump Go is not on the same playing level as Bose, EV, or JBL. Mackie does have some lowend, but the buck pretty much stops there. ha. @@DJRachelLynch Awesome, thanks for the reply. I appreciate your feedback and your correct. Sorry, I forgot to mention that I actually own the Mackies and they are great for small events/houseparties , cocktail hour, and wedding ceremonies, DJ monitor, however, thats all I use them for. I wouldn't use them for my main speaker systems or for backup. Only for supplemental use or to spread out the sound outdoor or in a smaller indoor venue situation. I have a pair of EV ZLX 12' and I prefer the voicing of the EVs much better than the Mackie's, but at their (mackie) price point and similar feature richness as EV.. they seem to do a decent job with less cost.

    • @DJRachelLynch
      @DJRachelLynch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@djrease7354 I have never used the Mackie Thump GO. When you say feature richness can you elaborate a little? Does it have an IP43 rating? Phone charger? Mic base DC power port? Swapable battery? 12 Hours of battery life? Stereo Bluetooh? Sincerely asking. I'd love to know more about it. I feel like EV has had the time to build a better mouse trap and they did.
      So glad you have a great solution that works for your small stuff. It's been great to see all these companies give us stuff to do our job in easier ways!

      @@DJRachelLynch Awesome!!! Thanks for asking... So I just looked at mine right now. The IP rating is not listed on the Mackie, so the IP rating would have to be verified by the manufacture, therefore I'm not sure or certain on that. It does not have DC output ports or phone charger, possibly the reason for the lower price. It does have stereo Bluetooth, and yes it does have 12-hour battery, It also has different voicing options to select from depending on your situation. It also has built-in two channel xlr/line/ 1/8" mixer with an xlr thru output and master volume control knob. Yes agreed, its awesome that companies are developing these products with mobility in mind. With new battery technology coming out, I can foresee that most main top and bottom speakers including full sized subs will be 8-hour or more battery powered within the next 5 years. A total game changer. I cant wait...lol Cheers!!!! I forgot to mention that the mackie thump Go also has automatic feedback reduction builtin so if your using wireless microphone during ceremony your good to go!!! Also I personally use the Sennheiser or XVIVE for wireless XLR to the Mackies Thump Go, and it still manages to exceed my expectations for the price and limited use case.

    I appreciate your review on these speakers. I've been aware of the quality of EV for decades, but they were slow to get into the "race" for supremacy in the battery powered speaker race. I can't agree more with your thoughts on the JBLs as I own a pair of them, as well as a pair of the Bose S1s. The tuning lights are ridiculous and totally useless. Neither set of speakers seems to have the punch I need for solo performances. One thing I wish you had covered is the performance for live vocals. I've been using Shure SM58s with both speakers and find them to be lacking in sensitivity. Having watched this video, I'm leaning toward purchasing a pair with an EV microphone as well. Given the price, it looks like it will be one speaker at a time....maybe even one component at a time. Keep up the good work. (Maybe it's time for a follow-up review with the mic system included, as well as the features of the app?). Best wishes.

      Apprecate your time to check this out. While I don't specifically speak about the Shure SM58, I touch upon the microphone here including the anti-feedback setting (works great). I can promise you this is miles above the JBL or Bose S1. I think you'll be very happy with the built in DSP and vocal settings built in to the speaker. th-cam.com/video/pfcaP3ZvnZI/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks for the early review. I am looking for Bose S1 vs EV Everse8. This for mainly karaoke setup at home for my daughter. In the past I tried Ion (lower range) with Tonor wireless mic and S1 with same mic. I liked S1 and was thinking of buying that and then I noticed EV has launched this. I would possibly visit a store that allows playing each of those side by side for our kind of music (strong focus around vocals) and decide. I generally love Focal speakers but for my use case those are too costly.

    I’ve just done my first gig with the Everse 8. I was looking forward to being able to charge my iPad whilst using it to play my music. Unfortunately there’s an awful buzzing sound while using the USB connection and 3.5 mm input together. It warns you this can happen in the trouble shooting guide in the manual. I prefer a wired connection as I’d be worried mobile alerts could interrupt Bluetooth streaming.

    I would love to see a side by side comparison with the Bose S1 Pro. I use the S1 as a wireless speaker during the reception, similar to how you had the EV set up in the corner. I connect to the headphone port on my mixer with the Sennheiser EW100 system. The bass hits too hard for the S1 to handle and it clips badly at any volume, so I can't use it for loud music even if I turn the lows all the way down on the S1. I only use it for mic audio and low key music during cocktail hour & dinner. I would love to see if the EV can handle the transmitter without clipping

    • @DJRachelLynch

      I can tell you this is significantly louder and clearer than the Bose S1. I've heard both extensively, and it's also proven in the specs. EV has had time to get it right. I can assure you this is the best speaker out right now because they took the time to do it right. If you're clipping your Bose def try and check this out. You'll be pleasantly surprised. This has a significantly higher output.

      The answer is… it depends. 🙂
      Here are my thoughts about answering the question “will this speaker work for…”
      The number of people in attendance is only one consideration when selecting a speaker and almost impossible to answer.
      It depends on the TYPE OF EVENT your doing.
      It depends on HOW DENSELY PACKED the people are going to be.
      It depends on your SOUND OBJECTIVE (how you want to fill the space).
      It depends on HOW LARGE the room/dance floor is.
      It depends on HOW LOUD you need to be at the farthest point in the room.
      It depends on the UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS of the venue/room.
      It depends on your CLIENT’S EXPECTATIONS (think student prom vs corporate picnic; do they want or need to to be crushed by sound?)
      It depends on INDOOR/OUTDOOR considerations (sound moves differently with and without walls).
      It depends on your knowledge of PROPER GAIN STRUCTURE and knowledge of BUILT IN FEATURES of your speakers.
      It depends on what your speakers are realistically DESIGNED FOR/CAPABLE OF.
      Maybe some other things I’m forgetting too.
      Point is…
      Always do a site walkthrough.
      Always understand what is being asked of you.

    Have a nice time! May I ask you a question? Everywhere they write and talk about 6 and 12 hours of battery life. Is it when all three channels of the amplifier work simultaneously: microphone plus guitar plus backing track or just one? For example, backing tracks with a bass guitar and drums require more energy than one connected guitar with a microphone, and even more than just one guitar. What should I pay attention to when using all three elements at the same time? On the volume indicators so that they do not reach the limit values?

    Interesting, I'm glad you mentioned you sold the Eon One Compact before buying the Everse. If I’m doing a complex wedding ceremony with the musicians and such, I’ll use my Electro-Voice 30M. That’s honestly why I got it. The 30M is my main ceremony/cocktail hour speaker. However, for a small ceremony, something out on the beach where I don’t want my 30M near the sand, simple cocktail hours in a different area, or a small PA for announcements, or filler speaker the EVERSE is a great compact choice.

      Is what you’re using now of similar size or SPL? If yes, this is could be a good option if not, then probably not. I hope that makes sense. 🙂

      No. The stereo Bluetooth does not work with mics or XLR inputs. Only Bluetooth music. You’d need to run a XLR from the mix out in that case.

      It’s not the same mixer. The EVOLVE 30M is a 8 channel Dynacord mixer. It has a lot more inputs. However the EVERSE had a feature filled DSP, just like the 30M.

I’m thinking the ev Column speaker you have as a satellite might be the trick for me. Thanks!

    Rachel - I recently bought the Everse 8 for ceremonies and would like to buy a second for cocktail hour. I definitely think this speaker needs a sub, but EV does not make a battery-powered subwoofer to match. Only Yorkville makes a fully-mobile sub (EXM) and I am thinking of pairing those together. That said, do you think the Everse 8 could be used as main tops (with a small sub) for intimate rooms, like bars, lounges, or house parties? I'm hoping to use these speakers for everything but main dancefloor work - is that too ambitious, or should the Everse 8 just stick to light duty/ceremony/cocktail?

    • @DJRachelLynch
      @DJRachelLynch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve heard the EVERSE 8 with the Yorkville sub, and it fills it out nicely. It’s a great pairing and adds extra punch to make it more appropriate for a house party or a tiny gathering.
      IMO, adding a sub undermines the purpose and design of the EVERSE 8 by adding elements that expand the footprint. This is designed to be a quick, compact, and efficient solution for mobile DJs/musicians who need an excellent option for a ceremony, cocktail hour, floor monitor, satellite speaker, etc. I would bring a speaker system more appropriate for the event or venue if I needed added benefit of a sub like an Evolve 50. That’s just me.
      The answer to your question is it depends. 🙂
      The number of attendees is only one consideration when selecting a speaker.

      It depends on what your speakers are realistically DESIGNED FOR/CAPABLE OF.
      Maybe some other things I forget too.
      It’s a great top. I love it, but it is only an 8” top. It has its limits. You’d push it hard for the bar and lounge applications if there is any dancing or party vibe.

    hello, nice review ! Which one between Bose s1 pro and the EV everse 8 is the best for a home and outside bluetooth speaker ? Is it possible to listen the everse 8 at low volume ? thanks

    • @DJRachelLynch
      @DJRachelLynch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really boils down to what features are important to you and what your budget is. The EVERSE on paper is a better performing speaker, but there may be something about the Bose S1 you like better. I’ve outlined what makes the EVERSE a great speaker IMO. I pick the EVERSE over the S1 but only you can decide what’s best.
      You can listen to any speaker at any volume. 🙂

      @@DJRachelLynch Thanks. In Europe the price difference is greater than in the United States, the bose s1 pro is at 500 euros with battery and the everse 8 at 800 euros. That's why I hesitate, if it was the same price I would probably have taken the Everse 8 because it is more powerful.

    Since you have had both the EV 8 and the S1pro. I have heard it often said that the pre Amp in the S1pro is poor and the mics volume is almost not heard until the gain is at 50%. Therefore a mixer/preamp would have to be used to increase the gain for loud vocals. Do you find the EV8 has the same issue or is the EV8 preamps better compared to the S1pro for plugging straight into the PA? Don't want to have to buy a preamp mixer with the EQ when the EV8 already has the EQ built in.

    • @DJRachelLynch
      @DJRachelLynch  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t own the S1. Never did. I have heard it side by side on a few occasions to the EVERSE.
      Unlike the S1, the EVERSE has a built in fully capable DSP. This can also be controlled with their EV QUICK Smart app. Tons of settings and amusements for EQ and such.
      It’s significantly louder and has a large sub by 2” inches. It’s a better top. Newer technology. The EVERSE is a better choice IMO.

    What would you recommend far as EQs and volume when djing?

    • @DJRachelLynch
      @DJRachelLynch  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no way to answer this really. It depends on what you’re using the speaker for, the size of the room, the type of music you’re playing, what your sound objective goals are. Etc. Sound is also very personal. What sounds good to me may not sound good to you.
      Also, keep in mind there are a lot of other parameters available within the QuickSmart app. My advice is to play around with the speaker and make adjustments based on what your ears like and the type of music you play.
