Also forgot to mention if your worried about their soft mouths try putting a rubber snubber on your set up to give your setup a little more give. You'll rip less lips in the long run
I fish an area like that. No downrigger, I use a wedding band spinner with a Royal Coachman fly and because they have soft mouths, I use a rubber snub to absorb some of the hook set energy. Never go without a limit but the other Secret spot I fish has Kokanee to 4lbs. Sure are good eating!
You need to play with downrigger clips. Line should pull free most of the time. Smaller clips, different style, or tension adjustments. I have 3 downriggers on my boat.
Soft mouths, just keep line tight, no jerks. Taku my mouth is watering especially with the squeeze of lemon. Nice colors, nice drone, wife and dog too. Lake to yourself. Adam you are very efficient in tight quarters with double downrigger.
Not all Kokanee are white like that. In fact I have never caught one that is not dark pink and I have caught a lot. There are a couple of reasons why these may be lighter fleshed. My first guess is these came strait from the hatchery. Second guess would be the lake they are in does not have enough of the right kind of food. Unlike their ocean going brothers and sisters, land locked Sockeye salmon feed almost exclusively on plankton. The lakes I primarily fish are abundant in tiny scuds and fresh water shrimp that I believe impart the pinkness. They grow much bigger than this in fresh water, up to about 6 lbs. My personal opinion is that they are every bit as tasty as an ocean salmon (hatchery fish just aren't the same).
@@slacktide_angler okay perfect thank you for letting me know. I recently moved from San Diego to Idaho, so I have to get used to fresh water kayak fishing. Gonna miss those halibuts.
It's better than trout? Maybe so, matter of opinion, but I never looked at salmon as better than trout, just different, and I think trout is one of the best eating fish there is. I bet those kokanee were tasty cooked up fresh on a stick like that, though. Seeing them all bright and silvery makes them seem like they'd taste good.

I guested you don't fish California delta at all... Salmon do come in fresh water... some good news if you want to go try... steel head season is up you must go try in California delta to America river.. but watch delta regulation... I think there is a hatch close by... so they only let you keep certain kind
Is this a hidden spot? or is it a public reservoir? Id wish some youtubers would disclose the public reservoirs they go. I'd like to think they are trying to get people into fishing by these vlogs but i don't know. if it was like a certain spot on the ocean I'd understand.
@@Whitemale69 Yeah thanks bro, Ive also seen it in other comments. Just found it interesting they won't give the names of public reservoirs they go to.
Even if he didn't mind sharing the location, youtubers can get a lot of crap from other fishermen for sharing 'their' spots and contributing to spot burn. I'd understand why Adam wouldnt wanna get caught up in that. I'm sure they wouldn't mind telling you in a DM.
Adam grinds for fish and totally puts in work for his channel! Y'all drop a sub and support this fisherman!!! 🙂
Appreciate the support!!!!
He’s the man Diggity! I got to bag it up! 🎣
They are landlocked sockeye salmon and good job trying the hoochie and flasher 👍

I'm surprised youtube lets you say hoochie
@@fishiganstate3880 aw naw .. ya got it wrong ... youtu.be has issues with coochie .. they're all good with da hooch
Thanks fort the tips!
@@DieHardFishing hi Adam ... you guys rock. Have you seen many people out on the Adventure Island of Tandem Island?
Good stuff man, those hoochies are bar none the best landlocked king, and kokanee bait. Keep the content coming.
Bullards bar?
Looks like it for sure!
I caught some of these near Tahoe. They're the size of trout and body of salmon, perfect for kayak fishing
Nice!!!!
BULLARDS BAR!!!
Bro I could watch your videos even if you didn’t catch fish you never stop it’s amazing and thanks for introducing us to you friends as well
when you "stack" the downrigger with a pair of clips and two lines, do you have issues with tangling on a retrieve of a fish?
As long as you manage your lines well, you shouldn't have any issues with tangling
Home of the record spotted bass.

mini mountain salmon, looks like lots of fun! hi Olaf👋🏼
Im gonna catch those here in Washington State when it gets warmer a little bit. This is a good video. Thank you Sensei
Have fun!
That looks like a ton of fun!
Great video Adam. Fish on a stick! Love it! 🎣👍🏼
Can’t get any better then that. Fish looked delicious.

which lake is this?
You should do another catch and cook!

Bullards Bar isn’t a secret honey hole. They have Kokanee tournaments there.
That's why I roam through the comments section. LULZ. It's not like Adam is in Lake Sakakawea ND, or Lake Elwell MT...
Why are you spot burning? They never tell where they are for a reason!
Good job buddy 👏
Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
Nice vid you couldn't have done it after this weekend!🤣🤣🤣
Love me some BB and Kokes!
Adam, how long after heavy rains do you wait to fish for surf perch?
Mmm that salmon looked 😋
Where is this lake at ? Thanks
I love the intro scene but it's so hard for me to not just imagine the PBBBBBBBFFFFFFFFFVVVVVVVVVVVVVV of that drone flying around.
Sick!!
Interesting little fish, I guess the limit is 10. I saw they look like a white meat salmon. It's all new to me. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!

Hey Adam, what number do you call to get that on-lake food service?? Nice video, keep up the great work!!!!
“Kokanee baby” ;)
Anyone know what lake is that?
are those kokanee hard to filet?
How good would one of those be for live bait in the ocean! If only
Straight fire!!!!
Do you have any videos on how to set up your down rigger? Is it for a Hobie or did you modify it from something else? Love the videos, so thank you!
It's a Scotty lake troller. Super easy to mount on any Hobie or kayak. Moo moo Outdoors has a video describing how he sets his up.

Aloha, first and only time I fished Kokanee was Ballard’s
Bullards Bar. Should have limited, but pulled alot of hooks. Soft mouths. Good eats.
make ur leader to the hoochie like 10 inches ull catch more fish
Where is this like at thank you I wo
You can make 4 pieces of nigiri from one of those fish
Olaf sighting!
Excellent quick catch and release! That was a hog, better check your gear for damage! Always a good show!

Freshwater salmon need to use a rubber leader on them to not rip their jaws off
I actually catch bigger Kokanee in Beryessa
BB hot bite
If only they were bigger than 8 inches lol
shout out ..from philippines
Land locked sockeye
Taku?Cooking on the kayak it don’t get better than that
oh oh oh. Lol
Lmao u and taku lost the first fish lol
They are not stocked for the bass to eat.
They should be
Kokanee are technically a small sockeye salmon. But they just go by Kokanee.. not Kokanee salmon
You need to set the hook harder
Shorten your leader👈
For sure especially at that lake I fished it in August and I shortend the leader and doubled my hits ! Limit is ten there because there are so many
please do catch and coooooooookkkk
I thought using corn for bait was illegal in California. But I know how things change.
I enjoyed your these old video then you got a motor on your kayak so I lost interest.
