The snow is a super absorbent polymer (SAP) and most likely sodium polyacrylate, which is also added to diapers. It can absorb 300 times its volume in water by locking it into between the structure of the sodium ions in the compound.

Sorry to be a science bore (again)- the sand is 'hydrophobic' thanks to it having been coated in a compound which causes cylinders (or masses, which can be sculpted) when it enters water. This reduces the surface area- think of the sand as lots of little scared people huddling together because they're near something they're afraid of (in this case, water!) When the sand is removed from the high concentration of water, however, it repels it quickly and becomes free flowing once more, parted from its sandy collective ('I'm not scared! Were you scared? I wasn't scared!'- basically)

I'm sick with the flu and really needed some distraction and comfort, so I called up this video and my three-year old was watching cartoons and this video caught her eye. She said "What is that girl doing?! She's PRETTY!" And I just about died from the cute. I also wanted to say a few things about this video in particular, I am kind of a science fan myself and what the "slick sand" was doing was repelling the water molecules because it's called "Hydrophobic". Also, the "instant snow" is the same material they use inside disposable baby diapers!
started watching these with my restless 1.5 year old on a night or naptime and when i do shes out like a light :) another asmr watcher in the making lol

My baby ferret is incredibly loud at night while I'm trying to sleep. I did some stippling by his cage and he stopped thrashing around and fell asleep. It's been a few minutes. Let's hope it sticks. I think i found the fix Ally!

If you're interested, the substance used to make the fake snow is likely to be a polymer such as sodium polyacrylate (commonly found in disposable nappies- or diapers, I guess you'd call them). It's wonderful at absorbing water and expands on contact with it, hence the dry snow.

I'm very picky with my ASMR and not very many ASMR artists are able to trigger me but your videos never fail! I had an idea and I thought I would share it with you if possible. I thought it would be fun to do a sort of "count down to Halloween". So have like Halloween themed Tutorial Tingles like a tutorial on carving a jack-O-lantern or Halloween makeup, Time Travel Tingles and have a themed vote on favorite old horror movies such as Halloween, Freddy Crooger, Poltergeist etc. maybe even a "scary" role play and a Thrifty Tingles Halloween edition and maybe a Fairy Tale Tingles "Horror edition"... I thought the suggestion would be worth a try! Thanks again for your hard work and dedication to ASMR your videos are truly amazing! Your ASMR fan, Nataly :)
