The mystery underground tunnel that runs from Priory Park in St Neots to the Old Priory (Waitrose carpark) in the town centre has many rumours on where it started and finished.
Originally I thought I found the beginning of this tunnel near the little wood on the edge of the park beside Priory hill road.
Had a message from one of my viewers saying he thought it was in the middle of the park in a wood, so come with me and let’s see if we find this new entrance to this underground tunnel.
Well I have lived in St Neots for the last 80 years and the idea of a tunnel from Priory Hill to the town centre has always been talked about. I think its pure fantasy !
Hi Peter, thanks for watching. I’m not sure either about the tunnel, but it’s fun exploring lol. You never know, I might really find it.
This a great video i never knew there was possibly a tunnle!! Keep it up!!!!
Newark222 hiya, cheers thanks for watching, I might find it one day, so many rumours about it lol.
What a cracking channel. This one is great. Nothing like looking for a mystery!
Bad Driving UK, thanks very much for your kind comments. Andy
That was a pleasant surprise! Wasn’t expecting my name to pop up. Thanks Andy! I grew up playing football in priory park and I went to Longsands in the 90s! Always heard rumors of a tunnel but never saw anything...Great times! Awesome video 👍🏼
Cheers Dan
There is a tunnel in toseland hall manor house cellar that leads to a farm house behind loves farm, use to be called monks hardwick and I have also found a different entrance to the one in your video in priory park
Hi Holly, that sounds interesting about the new tunnel entrance. Tell me more
i have heard tails of this tunnel mostly by the name of the nuns tunnel my whole life. People have said oh yer i went in them in the 60/70's but no one has ever shown me where it is.
i have never found any solid evidence of it actually existing. back in the late 90's when i was a kid me and a few mates looked in to it quite alot we even went to the library and dug out the old maps to see if anything was on them. about the only thing we ever found was these stone blocks, metal railings and what looked like the start of a steep it was roughly at 52°14'01.5"N 0°15'24.1"W you might have to look quite hard we had to dig to uncover them. we did plan to dig them out more but with only limited time after school and the weather consantly claiming back what we done we gave up.
in the last few years there are other story's of the basment of a shop in cross key's wall collapsing exposing an entrance to this tunnel as well but from what i can tell that is only a rumour.
also this place you visited in this vid we looked at as well and it was always a pond from what we could tell and it was full of water back in the 90's
Hi Nail, thanks for your comments and very interesting. Like you I have heard a lot of rumours but as you said not really any proof anywhere. Makes a good story though, but you never know, ‘no smoke without fire’ as they say. Cheers and all the best for the new year. Andy
Hey man i new to the Channel i saw the Abbotsley vid my friends lives their and their is a lot to the village like the golf club and lower down the village could u make another vid please
Hi Pesky Brit, thanks for watching, no problem, I can do a revisit. Cheers Andy
Your earlier video on subject i stated this was an ice house for the Rowley estate .I was born in st neots and never heard of this second entrance
Hi David, yep I understand, thanks for clearing it up for me.
Would be nice to get in and explore this tunnel there also meant to be one huntingdon.
Hi Kev, haven’t heard about the one in Huntingdon. If you know anything about it let me know pls. Maybe we can do one together
@@andrewwardmedia I don’t think you can access the tunnels but we did get into somewhere we thought could be access to it which I think recently been sealed I will try and find out more.
Hi Andrew. Was it you at Caxton Gibbet McDonalds today at lunch time (Fri 23 Oct)? I wanted to say Hi but was too shy.
Hiya, not me lol. Last time I was there was just before lockdown
I see. I think you have a doppelganger then!
That 1st “tunnel” could be a Victorian cold cellar? Underground fridge for the old big house 🤷🏼♂️
tim moser hiya. I recon you are probably right about being entrance to the cellar for the big old house. There is a rumour that the entrance to the tunnel is actually in the cellar but it’s all filled in now. So many rumours lol
My dad was poaching in the park in the 50’s and got caught by the police.
I believe he had a shiling fine and a whack across the legs.
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
@@TheWoodlandhoBo ha ha, that’s a good story about your dad. Thanks for watching
I love to take my engine RC car out so if you here an engine that would be me
Have you found the pond in the middle of the park¿
Hi Carl, the only pond I found in the park is this one where I thought the tunnel was. It was dried up but I’m sure in the middle of winter it’s full of water. Thanks for watching
Thanks for sharing Andy, always a pleasure watching your videos; I know the St neots skills campus was moved, but is the building still there?
When I attended the school I was told it use to be a holding jail??? Or something like that? Then I'm just going on info I heard years ago.🤣😅
I'm keeping and hope you are also, stay safe.
Michael Bevan hiya. Well, I know the school Longsands is still there. About being a holding Jail, ha ha, I don’t know. I was actually brought up near Windsor during my school days. I know the school backs onto the park. Keep safe as well, we’re heading for our second wave now.
@@andrewwardmedia cheers. Yeah I used to travel to St neots to visit my gran; I also attended the skills campus for vocational training.
Yes the building was located very close to Longsands schools, but thank you for the content you upload, it's well received. :D
Oops there it is loo
