I have watched this scene a number of times, and no matter how many times I see it, I still tear up when that piano music that plays when Brenda turns around to find Jason. :-( I always wonder what would have happened had it been written differently, but I am so happy that they will finally get the wedding they deserve this week!! :-)
This proves Sonny only ever truly loved one woman. He was willing to let Brenda go, keep her from the pain of his lifestyle. He's never done that for anyone else.
Lila, Alan, Bobbie, Ruby, OMG LUCY!!!!! Mike, the real Jerry Jacks, Justus, Felicia, Dara, Gail, Simone....oh how I miss these characters! THIS was General Hospital!
@RST432 IT's crazy when you think about it because MB only left briefly. Once he realized the steady paychcecks weren't gonna be there he went right back to GH and has been back ever since. IF he had just stayed until VM left, they would have got married and maybe had a kid Who knows??
I can understand why Sonny felt he had to leave Brenda but the way he did it was awful. It must have been so humiliating for Brenda and sending Jason was cowardly (and unfair to Jason for making him bear the brunt of everyone's anger)
@neetrab Yes he really left, it wasn't very long but he left. VM eventually left (that's why they never were together again). If memory serves (and anyone correct where I'm wrong) MB left, she went on with Jax, MB came back, they talked but were never really together again, MB left again (for a very limited time) and then B "died" (VM left).
Boy, what a painful scene.. especially since Brenda looked so happy in the beginning. I can understand why Mike would yell at Jason after he asked Jason if Sonny was coming back and Jason just stood there, not saying anything, as he often did, with his now-famous 'stone face'.
@aphroditepandora actually i feel the complete reverse that brena is that obsessive i can't live without you, while carly he just loved. he loved brenda so much he didn't want to bring her into that mob life or have her marry a damaged man.
Even if they were to marry on this episode, don't the groom already supposed to be on the front like all weddings? You mean the groom was going to walk down the ale too? wtf kind of wedding was this
What a crappy thing to do to a bride. I don't get why she was walking down the aisle without the groom there in the first place. But then, it's a soap, right? Made me sad all over again
I'm not understanding why he felt the need to humiliate her in front of her family and friends. That was just cruel. And then to wait outside and watch--sick! I mean I guess unless he truly broke her heart in a million pieces he figured she would keep trying. NEVER got the appeal of Sonny or Jason for that matter. There are way better characters with more layers.
@aphroditepandora - Actually when Brenda recommended that she live with him he said he didn't want that. Then she pretty much gave him an ultimatum, THEN he said he wanted her to stay. So I would say that qualifies as him acting as if he couldn't live without her. To get the whole thought check out "Sonny & Brenda -"I brought you another present..Oh My God" start at 2 minutes.. then "Sonny & Brenda - Brenda needs more from Sonny" last, "Sonny & Brenda - "I love you, Brenda." Hope you like..

I think the writers could have given a um.. well...happier storyline even though he was leaving the show.. Like, he had to move away to puerto rico for a while but he'll be back.. and maybe told brenda to hold the wedding plans or something. I don't know... just couldn't stand him leaving her the way he did.
I usually skip over these S&B wedding clips . It's too sad for me. I couldn't stand sonny during these times. And when he married carly, and they would try to make them the powercouple... I pretty much stopped watching that show all together.. I just started watching the last 4 months again and I'm glad he's not with her anymore, but I'm still pissed that he has a kid with her.
Isn't it ironic that Sonny ended up doing the same thing to Brenda his father Mike did to Sonny's mother? Sonny knew better than to do this to her. His is a coward and a very cruel man.

I COULDN'T STAND JASON IN THIS WEDDING SCENE. HE WAS COLD TO BRENDA LIKE SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO JUST ACCEPT SONNY'S CRAP OF AN EXCUSE. HE COULD HAVE BEEN A MORE UNDERSTANDING MESSENGER. How I wish he was still the nice quartermaine I knew from back in the day..i'm tired of him trying to act like he's a sonny wannabe.

I want S&C to have a happy ending, but that doesn't seem likely right now :( I really like Brante and Brax, though. Jax is so sweet with Brenda, and she actually deserves it (somewhat), unlike Carly who just walks all over him (and he lies to her, of course).
