From the drone video, they were being kept warm by the jet fuel. The Turkish drone did happen to take the scenic route and overfly a lot of Iranian national security assets like military bases

7:14 Iran fires 300 drones at Israel and all but 7 are dropped by defensive weaponry. Ukraine launches 100 drones at Russia and they lose aircraft, fuel and weapons depots, now ships. Sheesh!

This may be counterintuitive, but I think Ukraine’s current operational methods are about ideal for this stage of the war. Drawing the Russians forward into prepared defenses is bleeding them heavily.

We don't know if he "insisted" on flying. Three helicopters were in a group. I'm sure all pilots were very experienced. They have located the wreckage- looks like the middle of a mountain. Don't know if it was a "controlled crash" or whether they just flew into the mountain. Nine people on board were killed.
The incompetence of Russia / Iran / NK can never be underestimated. When the dictator says I want to fly then the pilot is given no choice.

Every time theres an air accident there are many errors. I enjoy mentor pilot's videos about crashes and why or how it went wrong. Here you have extreme weather and mountains, pressure from the president who can have you killed, and while reliable, the helicopter is certainly lacking the best cameras and avionics. If i had to fly for emergency through that, i want a pilots from 160th SOAR (us army SOCOM/JSOC) flying their specialized Blackhawks specifically designed for flying blind. These have terrain mapping tools and a memory of the 3-D map, plus the most recent thermal and night vision cameras, so MAYBE the best pilots in the world make it. I agree it wont hurt Iran, but we can dream. And im hoping to hear more about that ship!
