What a cool day! Especially as an unplanned substitute day for bad weather. My favorite NZ Bird is the Kakepo - Worlds largest Parrot - so cool. But only a few hundred left alive sadly. There are some in a few zoo's, and the rest live on 3 islands (no go zones) bottom of the South Island. Best part of a walk in the rain, in beautiful country; is getting back home or into a pub for a hot pie and a beer.
Kakepos are so cute! Apparently you can apply to feed them during the breeding season on one of the islands which seems like a really good opportunity, we might apply. A good pint after a walk cannot be beaten!

Sad that you weren’t able to film the kiwis 😢 feeding the eels looked like good fun however
