I don't know about the UK as I'm from Illinois, but, here in Illinois, the O N L Y traffic law that doesn't apply to cyclists is the speed limit (as they can't reach it). Lane discipline, stop signs, stoplights, all that other shit applies.
Hi there, I'm so glad you made this video, you sound like such a sensible guy. I've been saying these things for years, and the situation has got much worse since the start of the Pandemic, with more bikes on the road. One of the advantages of cycling in London is being able to weave in and out of the traffic, and being able to go to the front of any line of traffic., but this can be very dangerous, as you so rightly point out.
Hi Taylor good way to let out about Cyclists, becuase like just eat and deliveroo students. ride where ever dont stop at lights . they over take you and not just them electric scooter as well.
Cyclist are a pain, and the fact that they're always recording and saying to drivers "YOUR ON CAMERA" when its not their fault is attention seeking because they are really bored
Couldn't agree more. When a bus is pulling into a bus stop in a cycle lane and cyclists are on the cycle lane, they complain and harass the driver for cutting them up, drivers can't leave a metre space from the bus to the bus stop to let cyclists past, the passengers will just trip when getting off, where else are the drivers supposed to go?
Exactly! Bus Drivers always have to be considerate of other road users and pedestrians all the time it just would be nice if other road users could do the same sometimes I think all it is road users don't know what it's like from our perspective I think if they could get into the cab and see what we see they might be able to understand the challenges of driving a vehicle of this size and how dangerous it can be
Sounds like you've got your defensive driving skills sorted which is good because as you are discovering you need them. Cyclists ( not all of them) can be a pain..like everyone else on the road you have to think and drive for them..many years ago I saw the same cyclist go through red lights every day....one day the Police were on board and I pointed it out...guess what, it cost him chunky money and from that day on he stopped at red lights....result...
Same in my city hundreds of thousands euro have been spent making cycle lanes and Bollards everywhere in my city yet there left there empty and not being used because according to cyclists there dangerous 😂 in the mean time all the streets have been narrowed to accompany these lanes and ZERO bus lanes have been created huge complaints going in now of how long public transport takes and always late but it’s due to the fact there’s traffic and no bus lanes only cycle lanes in my city 😂
Cannot like this video enough, you’ve summarised what I’ve thought for years. I don’t understand the mentality of many cyclists, they’re easily the most vulnerable set of road users but seem to think they’re super human. The stupid things I see really never cease to amaze me. What winds me up are these stories of cyclists going up the side of lorries and getting squashed and killed.....then there’s a big uproar about a cyclist death! No! You should have stayed behind the lorry! I have a bike myself though I haven’t used it often. I’ve had several occasions where I’ve been totally embarrassed using it. One was on the CS3 route in Central/East London where (as you say) there was mass ignoring of red lights, people almost crashing into other bikes trying to go faster, ignoring zebra crossings, ploughing towards elderly people/people with kids....same sort of thing happened a few years ago on the Regents Canal too. The attitude of many cyclists is absolutely awful, and really self centred which I think takes away a lot of the awareness they should have. I don’t watch cyclist videos on YT, they really wind me up, many of them are on their own mini crusade trying to tell other people they’re wrong, but the cyclist really can’t see the truth in front of them : (
Your wasting your time, even if those who run red lights see your film, won’t take any notice of you, as it will continue well after we die, so just sit back and enjoy it!.
Nah mate they need to start getting some sort of cbt before they can go on roads. Most of these cyclist dont have basic road knowledge which is why alot of them are horrible. They dont shoulder check when they change lanes and just assumes everybody is gonna give way to them. I saw a cyclist just change lanes without checking whats behind them and another cyclist who was a deliveroo rider was trying to overtake him at 25mph and the deliveroo rider crashed into him lmaoo. It was the funniest thing ive ever seen.
blah blah blah, as a cyclist and car driver myself I think you are on the wrong job if you find it difficult to share our tiny roads lol 😂 I find it very annoying when buses stops inside cycle boxes at traffic lights which majority of drivers like you do anyway.
