How i fell in love with cooking is I chose my spices which are thyme, oregano, dill, paprika, coriander, rosemary, garlic powder, bay leaves, salt and lemon pepper, I use these in EVERYTHING but i experiment with their quantities and everything always comes out delicious and different

Haha I loved your video so much and laughed through a few things because it resonates with us so much. So, your friend Sakina hates washing dishes - early on I realized this doesn't bring me any joy and makes me cranky so I got my husband into doing it day-by-day everyday. Then one day I found a video of Barack Obama where he said he washed dishes when he was in the White House because sometimes it important to do simple things and feel accomplished especially when he had to make other bigger decisions and felt stuck. I was like yessss I have to show this to my husband because he really respects him (infact we both love him)... Present day scenario - every morning my husband gets up at 6 in the morning and first thing he does is washes the dishes while feeling like Barack Obama who has to go do other bigger things next... My life is set Helena, dirty dishes are out of my life - I can concentrate on cooking, eating and all other simple joys of my life 🤣

It doesn’t matter where you live. I have never longed to go to France although I’m sure it’s beautiful. I think you can have peace within anywhere you live it up to us. I live in Central California and I love the all the forest around the hillsides the ocean and all the wonderful back roads. I wake every morning and thank God for all the beauty around here.
There are many wonderful people here. Any place you live in your going to find good, real caring people and some not so much. It is up to us to slow down to surround ourselves with people who are positive and caring. Enjoy our gardens, the wonderful small bakeries and our families. I really enjoy your videos, I am glad you have found joy where your at and have a wonderful day.

Was the a hurricane? Great view from your window, I bet you now feel inspired when creating new videos, I remember that you, just like me, cannot create properly in every environment, you prefer the calmer ones when you want to boost your creativity, and I am the same. Loved the no electricity evening idea, just you, your hubby and tons of candles, doing whatever doesn't involve technology! And yes, I always loved handwashing dishes and I still do, for me it's so relaxing and I love the contact with the water during the process. Great video Helena! Your 'no electricity night' reminds me of what I do sometimes especially in summer - simply not turning the lights on in the evening (or using computers, etc.) and letting the day end by itself.

This was so aesthetically pleasing, I love the colours of your couch cushions, so pretty. Homemaking wasn’t a priority for me for a long time, but since I am staying home more, I am getting a renewed perspective on it. Many women in my family were (part-time) homemakers and proud of it. It’s self-respect and self-love to care for your home, I find.
So true Michelle! 🤗 I also find that when I take of my home more, it's a reflection of how I take care of myself and the people around me. I used to dislike cleaning and all the homemaking things before I moved to France, but I've learned how to love it. That simple adjustment in thought and intention has brought a lot of more peace and FUN in the present moment!

*Wow that water spout was huge, I would of been so scared; but it would still be cool to see. It's hot where we live so I keep the bathroom door open at all time as well as the window to help circulate the air. 😊 your home fits your personality so well I love it, I believe all our homes should reflect who we are.* 💕💕

I never loved homemaking either. Some years ago, I found an old book by Alexandra Stoddard, "Living a Beautiful Life" and she talked about washing dishes as a ritual, just like you do. Enjoying the bubbles, buying a dishsoap that you love the smell of (Mrs. Meyers) and savoring the fact that you have food and dishes. I even went so far as to get rid of some dishes and utensils that I didn't love and now I'm delighting in the hot water and the opportunity to clean my things. (What still sometimes annoys me a little is if my husband says, "I left the dishes for you because I know you love it". HA!) Thank you for all your content. I've had a bit of a slump since the pandemic started and I'm gradually getting my groove back. Your vlog is exactly what I've needed. Sending love from Vancouver. ❤️❤️
I leave the bathroom open so the cats can use their litter pans. I do try to not have a stinky house.

It amazes me how different the perspectives are on home making in France vs the US. I'm originally from Europe and upon moving to the US, I was so surprised that people don't take their shoes off when they enter their homes (very common; there are people who do, of coarse) and that people move every 5 to 7 years here. That was not the mind set I had before the move. I love seeing the snippets of your beautiful home. Thank you for once again a truly wonderful video and message!

Gaining a new perspective on how or why we do a thing can make all the difference in how we feel about doing anything. When I was young I hated cutting the grass and trimming the bushes, then one day instead of a chore it became a work of art, to have a beautiful lawn and shrubs gave me great pleasure from a job well done along with a good sense of self worth. i love cooking meals that are enjoyable to eat and having clean dishes and silverware ha ha the little things. Look at all the positive comments yeah! Keep up the good work beautiful soul. Big ((HUGS)) Mwah!

Wow, you are really savoring the present moment and discovering home care as a relaxing extension of self-care as if it's a spiritual practice. I think some people think drugs are needed to find this level of chilled, simple, alive enjoyment and contentment. I prefer sober!

I wash my dishes by hand even though I owned a dishwasher in my home, not because I like washing the dishes but because I just find it less work than putting it in the dishwasher😅
