- Another great WANDERING ADVENTURE with Princess cruises! This video shows our PANAMA CANAL TRANSIT on the ISLAND PRINCESS in April 2024 through the OLD LOCKS. We had an amazing day, saw loads of wildlife and awesome feats of engineering! Grab some snacks and come enjoy the day with me transiting through three locks on an east/west cruise through the canal!

This was a segment of a Panama Canal Cruise that we did from Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles on the Island Princess in April 2024. It was VERY hot and humid but we had a blast and I would highly recommend a Panama Canal Cruise!

That was absolutely amazing! I've never been on a cruise so thanks, for taking me along on part of yours. Those hammocks did look like fun on the other ship.
Glad you enjoyed it! I have another one to post from Greenland coming that is just amazing! Kind of the opposite end of the spectrum lol I really want to see hammocks on the cruise ships now! Would be so fun!
That looked amazing. My only cruise was Australia to New Zealand and back on the Golden Princess. I spent many hours every day on the balcony, especially on sea days. I found there were still a lot of things to see on sea days. I saw dolphins, seals and sea birds fishing, just to name a few. My favourite sea day was going through the fjords at Milford Sounds. There were beautiful mountains with spectacular waterfalls. I stood on the balcony for hours taking in the view. When I returned inside I found I was icy cold and completely wet from the mist off the falls. I had been so enthralled, I hadn't notice the wet and cold. After seeing your cruise, I would now like to do a Panama Canal cruise.
That sounds awesome! I've never been to Australia or anywhere in Asia but it's on my travel list! Hopefully soon! We had loads of sea days on our latest cruise to Greenland and Newfoundland and there was so much to look at I never got bored either! I love a good sea day for the sheer relaxation of it too :) I'll have to put Milford Sound on the list as well! Thanks for sharing
I have missed seeing you lately. This cruise looks amazing. We have cruised with Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival. I like them all for different reasons. Royal has the best broadway shows, ice skating shows, aqua shows etc and I love carnival for all the live music all over the ship at almost all hours of the day. We did Princess to Alaska and lived all the on board naturalists that gave talks daily. I just love cruising!!!!
Thanks for the info Debbie! That's cool about the shows on Royal. I wouldn't say that princess has the best Broadway type shows but sometimes they have a good comedian and they seem to be trying to offer more naturalists on cruises other than Alaska which is nice! I did love the information they were giving over the speakers throughout the day about the history of the Panama :) I love cruising too :D
We went thru the canal in a small cruise ship in the late 1980’s. I will never forget the poor guy (who was huge by the way) who stood on the lick side throwing up tie ropes to the top deck of our ship. It was so hot. He’d come out, try two throws then go back to the shade. I don’t remember those vehicles pulling along side.
Amazing! It was soooo hot and humid when we were going through I was happy for the moment of rain! Do you think that they had to install those vehicles along the sides as the ships pushed the limits on the size that they could build to fit through?
We did a partial canal cruise before, and it was amazing to do! We cruise with Carnival, Holland America and Princess, have had amazing cruises and have seen lots of new places.
I love how cruising makes it easy to see a variety of places without much travelling. Waking up in a new location every morning is so much fun and much less tiring! I'd be exhausted having to travel to each of the locations independently!
Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, has the tallest lift lock in the world. It is part of the Trent Severn Waterway. There are TH-cam videos if you'd like to see it in action.
